Love the city, enjoy ♡ one of my fav restaurant is tarma iraqi street food, their appetizers are to die for, the shawarma sandwiches at Halab gate shawarma is great too (they sell on the street corner, you cannot sit down but worth it), and in Pavilion at matcha hero at the tokyo level is one of the best matcha latte I ever tried ❤

If you love beaches, then you should go to Pangkor Island, Langkawi Island, Perhentian Island and Redang Island (this is in the east coast of Malaysia).

Taiping there is the hidden Austin Pool which is much nicer and cleaner than the more well known Burmese Pool. Taking a dip in the waters is refreshing.

Hi - While going north- explore some little cute small town on the coast instead of using highway/fastway. After u have done KL - go to Kuala Selangor - Sekinchan -Teluk Intan - Setiawan - Pantai Remis-Ipoh -Taiping -Kuala Sepatang-Kuala Kurau -Bukit Mertajam-Butterworth and finally to Georgetown People can communicate cantonese in KL/Ipoh - if they cant speak they definitely can understand .In penang people tend to speak mandarin

Specially for you, Flora..most Chinese in Kuala Lumpur speak Cantonese. Ipoh city too 90% of the Chinese in Ipoh speak Cantonese. Of course Mandarin is widely acceptable in all of Malaysia cities. In Malaysia, the Chinese dialect "officially" use is Mandarin because that is the dialect used in the Chinese based schools. However, Malaysian Chinese still use various dialects for everyday use. It depends on the area actually. Central Malaysia, is predominantly Cantonese speaking, and Hokkien is used predominantly in Penang. Other states uses Mandarin, smattering of Hakka, Teochew. I don't know if this helps. But basically the two main dialects used in Malaysia is mandarin and Cantonese.

Kuala Lumpur (pronounced Loom-Poor) is really a big city(and quite congested too haha) yet it has greenery spots scattered around the city. Do avoid the city centre whenever it rains heavily as it is pretty prone to flash floods. China Town or better known as Petaling Street offers you both the new and old and you really need to walk. Cantonese is widely spoken in Kuala Lumpur so you are in good hands. Chow Kit, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman is also one of the older areas in Kuala Lumpur and for more greenery, can visit Taman Tasik Perdana, Titiwangsa, Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, just to name a few. Things to eat: 1- ROTI CANAI (pronounced cha-nai) 2- nasi kerabu (Malay) 3- nasi dagang (Malay) 4- Ramly Burger (street stalls. not to be missed) 5- hainanese chicken rice 6- Hokien mee (Chinese) 7- char kueh teow (Penang state has the best, but you can find one or two good ones in other states. There's the wet version and the dry version. The dry - Chinese, the wet - malay) 8- cendol dessert 9- Teh Tarik (pull tea. Can be found in mamak or indian Muslim coffeeshops or Malay food outlets). 10- apam balik (There's the thick version and the thing crispy version) 11- Bah Ku Teh (literally meaning pork tea. You got to ask the Chinese people where to get it. The ones in the town of Klang are said to be good.) 12- a variety of tropical Malaysian fruits starting with the infamous durian (you either hate or or u love it. But it can grow on you if taken from time to time) 13- Banana leaf rice (indian) 14- tosai, capati, roti tissue (indian) 15- Pisang goreng (banana fritters) 16- indian, Chinese n Malay deserts. 17- laksa. You have Malay and Peranakan versions. The one in the state of Sarawak called Laksa Sarawak was highly rated by Anthony Bourdain. He called it the "breakfast of gods". Places to visit near or in KL: 1- Batu Caves (30 minutes outside KL 2- Eco Park (jungle in KL with tree top walkways and jungle trails) 3- Bukit Bintang and Jalan Alor food street 4-Genting Highlands (entertainment city in the sky just about an hour outside KL by road. attractions include cable car, theme park, hotels, cool tempretures and casino) 5- central market (to hunt for souvenirs) 6- petaling Street (chinatown for fake goods. bargain like crazy for everything. Start at 15% initial offer) 7- all the shopping centres to keep cool on hot days. Notables Low Yat Plaza (computers, gadgets, hi tech stuff), pavilion (branded stuff), Berjaya time square (indoor theme park n rollercoaster), One Utama (the biggest in south east asia, I think) and the brand new Lalaport 8- Night merkets. The well known ones are Taman Connaught NM and the Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman NM. Outside KL: 1- Langkawi island (duty free. Booze dirt cheap) 2- Historical city of Melaka with it's Portuguese, Dutch and English influences. 3- Penang (Malaysia's food capital) 4- Perhentian islands 5- Malay heartland states in the east coast - Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang 6- Johore Baru 7- towns in the state of perak . Notably Ipoh and Taiping.
Please try to visit Langkawi from Penang by Ferry Boat which is calm & quiet with less crowd mostly. Also try to visit Johor Bahru City which is opposite to Singapore and by bus from KL you can reach there within 4-5hrs. Remember their slogan Malaysia is Truly Asia

Since you've been to Penang, I'm sure you tried Peranakan food before. Perak is the state that famous with their signature white coffee, chicken rice, the famous Ayam Garam Aun Kheng Lim. If you a cat person, maybe can make a visit to Cat Beach Sanctuary at Tanjung Bungah in Penang.

You should try Malaysian durian since its in season. Malaysian durian is different from Thai durian. We let the durian ripen naturally and fall by themselves so the taste and flavour is stronger than Thai durian. You should try the different varieties of durian like XO, D24, Black thorn, Red Prawn, Musang King, kampong durian and many many more.

You've done Petaling Street mostly chinese area, explore Batu caves & little India and try their dish like roti Canai and famous drinks Teh tarik (pulled tea). For Malay, try explore Kampung Baru, is the last Malay village in the heart of KL, you can try Nasi Lemak Wanjo and there is a new pedestrian bridge that link Kampung Baru and KLCC with colourful light in the night. Since you have car, you can also explore Putrajaya. Try google for the place mentioned, for more information. Like Penang Melaka has been declared as a Unesco heritage city. In addition to the traces of Portuguese, Dutch and English remains, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday there is the legendary Jonker Street night market, where there is a variety of street food that is often praised by vloggers like you. However, if two of you are heading to Penang, you can also stop by the city of Taiping, which was the capital of Malaysia before independence, which used to be called Malaya before Bristih's administrative capital was moved to Kuala Lumpur.

In addition, there is a taxi service from Kuala Lumpur to Melaka. While in Melaka city, in addition to the public bus service, you can also use the grab service. Yes people in Malaysia can speak both Mandarin and Cantonese.. mostly the Chinese can speak Cantonese. So either is fine. BTW Note’s pronunciation for Mee Rebus is very accurate. 👍 yes durians in Malaysia is better than Thai durians for sure! Oh I miss Malaysia… I should make a trip down soon.

Yes, only durian is better than Thailand and nothing else, everything else is better in Thailand. Chinese are a minority in Malaysia, not true that many people in Malaysia can speak Chinese.
Flora/Note, while in KL, you must do a walking tour of River of Life and visit Kuala Lumpur City Gallery! Also walk to Perdana Botanical Garden. The park is HUGE!

Welcome and have a wonderflo stay in Malaysia. While in Peninsular Malaysia, you must visit Perhentian Island. I recommend you to stay at Long Beach. Let us know how this island compare to Thai's island. And please plan for a trip to hike Mount Kinabalu, the highest peak in South East Asia. The view at the peak is totally out of this world. You need to get in touch with a tour agent who will arrange for the trip. The price for 2D1N hike is close to RM2K but it is definitely worth it. While in Sabah, a hike to Bohey Dulang peak is a must! Enjoy!

It really depends on where you are in Malaysia, the main Chinese dialects changes. In Kuala Lumpur & Ipoh, mostly speaks Cantonese and while you move further 30 km to Klang, people speaks Hokkien like in Penang. But, Mandarin are used in nearly everywhere in Malaysia.

I truly hope that you can travel to each state in Malaysia because each state have their own unique charms, cultural, attractions and foods. The foods... you might find everything that each state's specialty in KL but it wont be the same as the ones that is made at their original state. I hope that you can travel later to south peninsula (Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor) and east Malaysia which is the Borneo (Sarawak, Sabah) Can't wait for your next video

is it KL118 cheated due to very tall spire to make sure their get the title of 2nd tallest tower in the world? the answer is yes and no because actually after the construction fully finished as a tourist u can climb inside the spire to look at 360 view of KL at the highest point, basically the spire its not just cosmetic purpose only haha
Great!! Since you are here in KL/Malaysia, one of the experiences you should not miss the opportunity is to try out the potpourri of great food here in Malaysia. Good thing you have a car cause some of the great food is not found within KL city but the satellite towns around KL City. Some recommendations here you should try out is Klang Bak Kut Teh, Fatty Crab (in Petaling Jaya) and Soon Kee Beef Noodle (in KL itself) to name a few. Try googling best eateries in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

In KL they mostly speak cantonese, in Ipoh they also speak cantonese, in penang the mostly speak hokkien. Mandarin is universal

If you love beaches, then you should go to Pangkor Island, Langkawi Island, Perhentian Island and Redang Island (this is in the east coast of Malaysia).

Taiping there is the hidden Austin Pool which is much nicer and cleaner than the more well known Burmese Pool. Taking a dip in the waters is refreshing.

Hi - While going north- explore some little cute small town on the coast instead of using highway/fastway.
After u have done KL - go to Kuala Selangor - Sekinchan -Teluk Intan - Setiawan - Pantai Remis-Ipoh -Taiping -Kuala Sepatang-Kuala Kurau -Bukit Mertajam-Butterworth and finally to Georgetown
People can communicate cantonese in KL/Ipoh - if they cant speak they definitely can understand .In penang people tend to speak mandarin

Specially for you, Flora..most Chinese in Kuala Lumpur speak Cantonese. Ipoh city too 90% of the Chinese in Ipoh speak Cantonese. Of course Mandarin is widely acceptable in all of Malaysia cities. In Malaysia, the Chinese dialect "officially" use is Mandarin because that is the dialect used in the Chinese based schools. However, Malaysian Chinese still use various dialects for everyday use. It depends on the area actually. Central Malaysia, is predominantly Cantonese speaking, and Hokkien is used predominantly in Penang. Other states uses Mandarin, smattering of Hakka, Teochew. I don't know if this helps. But basically the two main dialects used in Malaysia is mandarin and Cantonese.
Sawatdeekrup! Finally you guys made it to Malaysia, a country I call home, after Phuket. Kuala Lumpur (pronounced Loom-Poor) is really a big city(and quite congested too haha) yet it has greenery spots scattered around the city. Do avoid the city centre whenever it rains heavily as it is pretty prone to flash floods. China Town or better known as Petaling Street offers you both the new and old and you really need to walk. Cantonese is widely spoken in Kuala Lumpur so you are in good hands. Chow Kit, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman is also one of the older areas in Kuala Lumpur and for more greenery, can visit Taman Tasik Perdana, Titiwangsa, Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, just to name a few. Hope Malaysia gives you new adventures and stay safe!

Things to eat:
1- ROTI CANAI (pronounced cha-nai)
2- nasi kerabu (Malay)
3- nasi dagang (Malay)
4- Ramly Burger (street stalls. not to be missed)
5- hainanese chicken rice
6- Hokien mee (Chinese)
7- char kueh teow (Penang state has the best, but you can find one or two good ones in other states. There's the wet version and the dry version. The dry - Chinese, the wet - malay)
8- cendol dessert
9- Teh Tarik (pull tea. Can be found in mamak or indian Muslim coffeeshops or Malay food outlets).
10- apam balik (There's the thick version and the thing crispy version)
11- Bah Ku Teh (literally meaning pork tea. You got to ask the Chinese people where to get it. The ones in the town of Klang are said to be good.)
12- a variety of tropical Malaysian fruits starting with the infamous durian (you either hate or or u love it. But it can grow on you if taken from time to time)
13- Banana leaf rice (indian)
14- tosai, capati, roti tissue (indian)
15- Pisang goreng (banana fritters)
16- indian, Chinese n Malay deserts.
17- laksa. You have Malay and Peranakan versions. The one in the state of Sarawak called Laksa Sarawak was highly rated by Anthony Bourdain. He called it the "breakfast of gods".
Places to visit near or in KL:
1- Batu Caves (30 minutes outside KL
2- Eco Park (jungle in KL with tree top walkways and jungle trails)
3- Bukit Bintang and Jalan Alor food street
4-Genting Highlands (entertainment city in the sky just about an hour outside KL by road. attractions include cable car, theme park, hotels, cool tempretures and casino)
5- central market (to hunt for souvenirs)
6- petaling Street (chinatown for fake goods. bargain like crazy for everything. Start at 15% initial offer)
7- all the shopping centres to keep cool on hot days. Notables Low Yat Plaza (computers, gadgets, hi tech stuff), pavilion (branded stuff), Berjaya time square (indoor theme park n rollercoaster), One Utama (the biggest in south east asia, I think) and the brand new Lalaport
8- Night merkets. The well known ones are Taman Connaught NM and the Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman NM.
Outside KL:
1- Langkawi island (duty free. Booze dirt cheap)
2- Historical city of Melaka with it's Portuguese, Dutch and English influences.
3- Penang (Malaysia's food capital)
4- Perhentian islands
5- Malay heartland states in the east coast - Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang
6- Johore Baru
7- towns in the state of perak . Notably Ipoh and Taiping.

Please try to visit Langkawi from Penang by Ferry Boat which is calm & quiet with less crowd mostly. Also try to visit Johor Bahru City which is opposite to Singapore and by bus from KL you can reach there within 4-5hrs. Remember their slogan Malaysia is Truly Asia

Since you've been to Penang, I'm sure you tried Peranakan food before. Perak is the state that famous with their signature white coffee, chicken rice, the famous Ayam Garam Aun Kheng Lim. If you a cat person, maybe can make a visit to Cat Beach Sanctuary at Tanjung Bungah in Penang.

You should try Malaysian durian since its in season. Malaysian durian is different from Thai durian. We let the durian ripen naturally and fall by themselves so the taste and flavour is stronger than Thai durian. You should try the different varieties of durian like XO, D24, Black thorn, Red Prawn, Musang King, kampong durian and many many more.

You've done Petaling Street mostly chinese area, explore Batu caves & little India and try their dish like roti Canai and famous drinks Teh tarik (pulled tea). For Malay, try explore Kampung Baru, is the last Malay village in the heart of KL, you can try Nasi Lemak Wanjo and there is a new pedestrian bridge that link Kampung Baru and KLCC with colourful light in the night. Since you have car, you can also explore Putrajaya. Try google for the place mentioned, for more information. Please take note that this weekend, the Highway probably will be congested due to long holiday for Chinese New Year, always be update with the traffic news! Happy exploring guys!
Why don't you two spend a day or two in the southern part, Malacca, a 2-hour journey from Kuala Lumpur, another historic city where the history of the Malaysian Sultanate began. Like Penang Melaka has been declared as a Unesco heritage city. In addition to the traces of Portuguese, Dutch and English remains, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday there is the legendary Jonker Street night market, where there is a variety of street food that is often praised by vloggers like you. However, if two of you are heading to Penang, you can also stop by the city of Taiping, which was the capital of Malaysia before independence, which used to be called Malaya before Bristih's administrative capital was moved to Kuala Lumpur.

In addition, there is a taxi service from Kuala Lumpur to Melaka. While in Melaka city, in addition to the public bus service, you can also use the grab service. It is quite strange that the 4th most developed city in Malaysia has no transport services.

Yes people in Malaysia can speak both Mandarin and Cantonese.. mostly the Chinese can speak Cantonese. So either is fine. BTW Note’s pronunciation for Mee Rebus is very accurate. 👍 yes durians in Malaysia is better than Thai durians for sure! Oh I miss Malaysia… I should make a trip down soon.
Next time he can go order Mee Rebus for me...definitely having it again before we leave Malaysia. We love Thai durian so I wonder if we'll find Malaysian durian better or too strong for us... have to try to find out!

Welcome and have a wonderflo stay in Malaysia. While in Peninsular Malaysia, you must visit Perhentian Island. I recommend you to stay at Long Beach. Let us know how this island compare to Thai's island. And please plan for a trip to hike Mount Kinabalu, the highest peak in South East Asia. The view at the peak is totally out of this world. You need to get in touch with a tour agent who will arrange for the trip. The price for 2D1N hike is close to RM2K but it is definitely worth it. While in Sabah, a hike to Bohey Dulang peak is a must! Enjoy!

The PNB118 is not a cheat. One can actually go up to the thinnest part of the spire as it will, once completed become the world's highest viewing platform. Therefore the entire height is real!

Ipoh is the food Mecca of the country. Almost every street has its own Hawker style cuisine, and it's affordable!!
It really depends on where you are in Malaysia, the main Chinese dialects changes. In Kuala Lumpur & Ipoh, mostly speaks Cantonese and while you move further 30 km to Klang, people speaks Hokkien like in Penang. But, Mandarin are used in nearly everywhere in Malaysia.

I truly hope that you can travel to each state in Malaysia because each state have their own unique charms, cultural, attractions and foods. The foods... you might find everything that each state's specialty in KL but it wont be the same as the ones that is made at their original state. I hope that you can travel later to south peninsula (Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor) and east Malaysia which is the Borneo (Sarawak, Sabah)

is it KL118 cheated due to very tall spire to make sure their get the title of 2nd tallest tower in the world? the answer is yes and no because actually after the construction fully finished as a tourist u can climb inside the spire to look at 360 view of KL at the highest point, basically the spire its not just cosmetic purpose only haha

Good thing you have a car cause some of the great food is not found within KL city but the satellite towns around KL City. Some recommendations here you should try out is Klang Bak Kut Teh, Fatty Crab (in Petaling Jaya) and Soon Kee Beef Noodle (in KL itself) to name a few. Try googling best eateries in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
