  • We were fortunate enough to be able to visit the single biggest airport terminal on planet earth, being Daxing International Airport in Beijing, China. The starfish design building with only 8 vertical columns means it's a spacious and well lit environment with a maximum of just 8 minutes to walk to each and every gate inside. It's a phenomenal bit of infrastructure so here's a tour!

Zaha Hardid's architectural practice was actually in London UK. She was a renowned British/Iraqi architect. She was originally from Iraq. She designed the London Olympic Aquatic Centre and many other famous buildings in the world. She and her team won the archetectual design of this fantastic airport. Sadly, she passed about 5 years ago, but her practice is still going strong and has a branch office in Beijing.

China has always been good at looking after luggage. I talked with an international traveler, he said he never lost luggage in China, but often did in other countries. Want to visit China again when travel opens up. Maybe i will fly thru new Daxing airport. They are just completing another airport built like this in Chengdu, it will be a hub for that area. I think a bit smaller.

Zaha Hadid is a truly gifted architect.😍 I had the opportunity to visit one of her first buildings in the South of Germnay. It was ment to be the fire fighter house but the firefighters refused to work in the building after a couple of months. Some of the walls are not strait but bent, which makes people feel dizzy😵 Today it is a museum. 😉It think this is a great example to show how long it takes to achieve mastery.

If there's one hard fact about the design of a Zaha Hadid-designed structure, it's that they were built to be noticed. And that's certainly the case with one of her final projects before her untimely death in 2016, Beijing's Daxing International Airport. Critics and fans alike wait years, often upwards of a decade, to finally see the actualized version of her imitable vision, witnessing the delicate weaves of her lines go from a proposal to a physical structure. Which was exactly what happened yesterday, in China's capital city, after five years of construction, when the Pritzker Prize-winning architect's Beijing Daxing International Airport was completed.
