I was 30 when Lennon was killed. So very unnecessary. In 1965 when I was 15, I saw the Beatles in concert in Atlanta. Yep, I adored the Beatles and their music. Great vlog!
Janet Matthews, I did too. I even have my twin grandsons digging their music from the movie A Hard Days Night.
I know that it was one of the few concerts where you could hear The Beatles , thanks to Baker Audio of Atlanta .
I’m 15 and just got into the Beatles 😂
I saw the Beatles in concert on Sept 1964. I was 13vyears old and will never forget it. I was struck in awe when they came running out on stage in Baltimore, Maryland. Everyone was screaming but I sat there mesmerized. Their first song...Twist and Shout was sung by John Lennon, my favorite Beatle through the years alive and after the sad death. I could not believe it. How horrible. I remember where I was when Kennedy was shot in 1963 in Dallas, TX and where when I heard John was shot. Too bad he and Yoko did not go out to ear instead of going home to see his son. He never did get to see him.

So....he never saw Julian much
Nobody can understand the mind of a killer..one thing I wanted to add about the Dakota...that black lantern by the entrance is always lit...in memory of John..have a great time in NYC!
I never knew that about the lanterns, thanks!
Love the vlog today. I'm a huge Beatles fan and was watching Monday Night Football when Howard Cosell announced that John Lennon died. I was dumbfounded. Grew up in Queens. Enjoy NYC!
I was 24 when John Lennon died. I remember hearing it from Howard Cosell when watching MNF. I remember he said we might as well all go home now. The game doesn’t matter. He liked John Lennon and interviewed him. I was making fruit cake that night and tears ended up in my batter. We were all so heartbroken when he was taken from us so violently! Enjoy NYC Jordan. I don’t get back home anymore. Miss it dearly. 🦁❤️
I’m so excited to see New York City!!! John Lennon’s spirit lives in all our memories. ♥️
This was a great beginning to your NY vlogs, Jordan. I remember well the day John Lennon died; such a sad day. I really liked the decor of the Oscar Wilde Bar and hope your drink was as good as it looked! Thanks for introducing your friend to us. Looking forward to tomorrow’s vlog!
I met John lennon, and even played soccer with him and Ringo at the back of a theatre they were playing at in Manchester England.
🧢
Love NYC! I was 18 when John Lennon was shot. I was shocked, is an understatement. Shocked and saddened by his death. his death was for no reason at all.
Thanks for another great vlog Jordan.
When I was living in NYC I went to the Dakota; I briefly spoke to the Guard and he showed me where John Lennon fell after being shot, and that was pretty Erie.
Aww Jah looks so cute and it's always great to see and catch up with old friends . I remember how shocked i was that he had died John will never be forgotten and his contribution to music will always be remembered . Thank you Jordan lovely vlog . :-)
Humans can be so cruel! All the wrong people are being shot. I love your work Jordan.
It was such a tragic day when John Lennon was shot. Everyone was in disbelief. RIP and God bless his soul
Great vlog! That was an extremely sad day for music lovers especially Beatle lovers. We knew then it was the end of an era with no chance of a reunion.
Jana it was indeed a sad day, knowing that the Beatles would never get together and that John was no longer with us.
What a great vlog! I enjoyed every minute of it and can’t wait to see more tomorrow. Many years ago I made my trip and seeing Central Park brought back great memories.
I remember that sad day on December 8, 1980 I was senior in high school when that happen it was very sad day in history
I remember when Lennon died. I was a kid, not really old enough to grasp the significance. I’ll never forget my dad holding up the front page of the newspaper for me to read at breakfast before school.
My favorite band, my favorite Beatle, my favorite subject. I still get tears. I just purchased a new Beatle coffee mug , and was drinking coffee from it when I clicked on this vlog. How is that for timing.
What an Amazing start to your trip to New York City, Jordan! Thanks for taking us along!
I live in the Dakota and would have invited you up 👍
Have always been by that building and has always fascinated me
Is the building truly hunted and have you seen or heard John?
Wow maybe that would be a great vlog! if you showed Jordan the inside!
Did Lennon buy his place from Actor Robert Ryan?
TheDerek47 yes.
Paul Goresh, the photographer that snapped the famous photograph of John Lennon signing the autograph for his killer died in January 2018. Lennon's killer contemplated killing other celebrities such as Johnny Carson, Elisabeth Taylor and Ronald Reagan but settled on Lennon as he was the most assessible.
Thanks for vlogging the Dakotas and Central Park.
Janster59 Sadly it's true!
yup
The morgue photo was better
John Lennon was my favorite of The Beatles. It broke my heart when I heard of the news. Central park is beautiful. Loved the horse and carriage. This is a great vlog Jordan and my goodness you have friends all over the place. Thank you until tomorrow
Thanks Jordan for sharing this, I can remember like it was yesterday. I was watching TV with my mom, and the breaking news came across the screen. It's as sad today as it was back in (1980) . thank you so much for sharing this with me.☺️
I was 8 years old
That was a very good vlog. My favorite song John Lennon imagine
The day John Lennon died, I heard it from Howard Cosell, on Monday Night Football. I could not believe it!! I was born in '54, and been a Beatle fan since day one. Also, Jim Morrison's birthday is 12/8/43, and MY brother's is 12/8/46!! What a day!! Another brilliant musician lost way too soon!! RIP!!
Oh Jordan! This was an AWESOME Vlog!! Your travel vlogs just keep on getting better and BETter and BETTER!! GREAT Job!!
Thank you so much for this Jordan! I love NYC more than any other place on earth and you just couldn't have started out better than with John. I'm really looking forward to your other blogs this week!
Really amazing & sad vlog. I was in high school and the death of Lennon was a real reminder of mortality. Found out from Howard Cosell on Monday Night 🏈. Surreal. Take in a Yankees game , the Tribe in the big 🍎 this weekend.
I was hoping you’d vlog New York. Can’t wait for your upcoming episodes.
Just wow! Great story and thanks for this perspective of Manhattan. I’ve never been and when you explain what everything is it’s super interesting.
Thank you for doing this vlog, Jordan. I'm sure many of your subscribers will be absolutely so happy to see it also. I never knew that Central Park was that big, and has a lake? Hmmm...thanks again, and I'm glad you're in New York. It's a city that NEEDS to be vlogged!
Oh, when I used to live in NY City I was so busy all the time and so worried about paying my rent that I never took the time to stop by the Dakota and pay my respects.... I wish I did...
Great Video, Jordan! Wish I had time to see all the vlogs you make..
James seems like a cool and chill guy to hang out with..
What a very cool vlog. Never been there, but I'm so glad we get to see it through you!! Nice bar!!
I work with one of the biggest Beatles fans ever. I'll have to show him this video.
Great VLog Jordan, the Rock and Roll stuff is outstanding, Have a great trip in the Big Apple. Jeff
Thank you for sharing Jordan ❤️!
I’ve been told by my older brother that it was a sad sad day... My brother would play the song “Imagine” for days over & over it was burned into my brain... he basically grew up with the Beatles, so we knew how much he loved them and of course John. Thanks for bringing us along, Jordan, take care, be safe 🌸🌹🌼🌺🌷🎶🥁🎸🌶🍅🌻🌻👩🏻💻
Excellent vlog. My favorite place in NY is Strawberry Fields...Have been to the Dakota...you feel John's spirit there. Thank you for this great great video...Saw it on Facebook also !!

Wow!! What a great first day of your NY trip!!! Visiting Strawberry Fields then the Oscar Wilde bar that night!! I'm sure you had the most fantastic day!!! I sure hope you were able to get a photo of yourself sitting next to Oscar on that bench outside the bar!! As always, a terrific vlog!! And as always, thanks for taking us along!!
Again I'll say Thank You Jordan for all the coverage from the plane views to the sad ending of life of a Icon John Lennon. That gate was so cool! To Central Park, to the Historic Oscar Wilde Bar. That was beautiful. So excited for the next vlog. Stay Safe.

Jordan...great vlog as always! On the first trip I made to NYC the very first thing we did was visit the Dakota. Looking forward to seeing what else is coming up on your latest trip. It'll be great I'm sure, there is just so much fun and cool stuff to see and do in NYC.
Two days ago I finished the book "Life at the Dakota." It was so good! Your vlog fit right in. Thank you for vlogging this!
Thank you for all the vlogs that you do. Recently discovered your channel. I love history and music as well. It is great to learn new things about all the places you visit. You tell the stories so well. Love your dog too. Looking forward to more of your vlogs. Take care.
Loved the vlog Jordan! I was in 1st grade when he died...my mom is a huge Beatles fan and I remember my mom in tears that day...Fools Rush in is a great movie
Fabulous vlog! Thanks Jordan.
Stunning architecture, very sad that John's life was cut too short. Great work Jordan thank you
Did he say he remembered MTV shutting down and going straight to John Lennon's funeral? Lennon was shot on Dec 8 1980 and MTV started Aug 1 1981 so I think that dude is mixed up a little bit.
There was no funeral. Just the world minutes of silence the following Sunday I remember it like it was yesterday
Great video... I remember that story well. John was a musical genius. Jordan very well done buddy. I could listen to your stories for hours. You are very talented. ❤️👍
Awesome vlog Jordon. You always give us more than we expect. Very sad day for many when John was killed, I remember it well.
Home Run Jordan! Well done! Check out the old Shea Stadium, home plate is in a parking lot!
Thank you for taking me places I will never be able to visit. I feel like I am with you on each trip. Thank You

I love this channel !
Great video! Thanks
Great vlog, loved this one! 💜
This is like 9/11..you remember where and what you were doing when you heard of this. I couldn’t stop crying even though I was so young. 🤭 ✌🏻 I grew up loving the Beatles because of my older brothers. WOW Jordan LOVE the Oscar Wilde bar..♥️ have fun! 💕
What a great vlog, Jordan! I went to college in NYC in the 80's. Can't believe I never got to check out Central Park as it was during that time when everyone said not to go in there or you'll get mugged! I still regret it. What a NEAT bar that was!! I had to look up the inside of the Dakota after watching this. Gorgeous place!
i love that the palm trees in your opener look like buds
Great blog , as always . ♥️❤️♥️
Finally, I’ve been to a place that Jordan has vlogged!! I went to the Dakota and Strawberry Fields on the 1 year anniversary of Jerry Garcia’s death. Didn’t plan it, just worked out that way. Thanks Jordan for seeing this through your eyes!!
Loved this video! I miss my hometown💕
This is a great vlog. I can't believe he was murdered by a fan. So sad. Its surreal to see the actual place he was shot
Such a shockingly, tragic day it was. Being a New Yorker, I can understand why John Lennon loved it so much. Central Park - his backyard and one of my favorite pit stops. Filled with such history, amazement, and adventure. Thanks for another great blog.
I love NYC.... I visited The Dakota Building when I was last there in 2012, but somehow, didn't manage to find Strawberry Fields..thanks for showing me what it looks like. Great Vlog, I'm looking forward to seeing more of the city...have a great time Jordan.
Really nice vlog Jordan, thanks for sharing.👍🌟💙
Hi Jordan, those hot dogs looked fabulous! It looks like you had a nice time in Central Park. I can't believe that it is nearly 40 years since that tragic day, I remember it well. The Oscar Wilde Bar looked really nice place, hope you both enjoyed your drinks. Great vlog Jordan.

That was a really sad day Jordan, I remember a buddy and I were watching Monday night football when Howard Cosell announced John Lennon was dead. Great musical talent who tragically died way too soon. Thank you Jordan for posting this.
I fell in love with the Dakota when I seen rosemarys baby, I don't know if the interior shots were filmed there, but I would dream of living in their beautiful apartment..i love the gothic style, and ambiance, the bar you showed went along with that vibe...thanks, Jordan and the Jahster, I have always wanted to experience NYC...and when you panned the Empire State Building, king kong flashed into my mind😊
Thank you for a phenomenal video.
Loved the video
Great video
Excellent choice of cities!! Thanks, Jordan!
Thanks great job again
I was 5 1/2 when Lennon died. I remember it well. Life long Beatles fan. ❤
I was 13. I only know about Paul. We were having dinner when Howard Roswell announced the tragedy.
I meant Cossell.
WOWJORDAN!! I can't believe you were actually RIGHT THERE in my neighborhood!! I live two blocks away from the Dakota and surprised I didn't run into you!! Enjoy your stay here and hope to bump into you!
I love your videos, the background you have in each place or person is amazing, I binge your channel 🤣😂 could do do a video on the Carry on's, next time your here in England, we love a Carry on and it would be amazing to hear the back story x
Rosemary’s baby was filmed there
People keep telling me to see that movie is it worth it?
@Lorry Mckiernan yikes to be honest idk how to feel about that guy... Yeah wife and unborn baby killed ... But I don't support attacks on minors. So I just see it as there is a reason he's not allowed in the u.s. and I leave it at that. Not to be dark just being honest but that's my opinion. If I'm I'll informed please tell me but that's where I'm at with roman.
johan fretzen yes I have it on dvd
Mia and her sis were friends with the Beatles.
Gray's Papaya! Yessssss! Memories of NYC when hanging out with friends..
I was just a baby when this happened. Such a sad day. Nice vlog. Have fun in the City! Been there numerous times.
Everyone has some darkness in them some more than others I know what john failed at was bad but let's just keep his positive actions memorized and not his dark behind the curtain beliefs. Leave the negativity behind. Move forward with positivity!
johan fretzen What ‘behind the curtain’ beliefs did John have?
I heard o. The radio the morning after as I was getting ready for school . Was and am still floored.
I can remember sitting in our car watching it snow, and listening to the radio..While waiting on my dad to come out of the grocery store when the DJ broke in,and made the announcement that John Lennon had been shot down in cold blood.I was 14 years old,and the one thing that I can still remember was how upset that I became after that announcement ..It was such a blow to loose such a kind and talented man.. RIP JL..
Such a senseless tradegy. The Dakota is beautiful and I had no idea how lovely Central Park is. This is a trip I'm going to love.
Awesome Vlog Jordan! I was 3 almost 4 when he died. Ive stood in the spot in August of 2001 where John Lennon was killed. There was an old man at the entrance that was telling me all about it once i told him i was there because of John Lennon. He was full of knowledge about the murder. I had gotten many pictures of the Dakota and New York in general including the World Trade Center. Ironically a month later it was destroyed on 9/11
Jordan you are awesome the NYC vlog was great with such a huge amount of things to do I look so forward to your next vlogs ! So sad and weird one creep steals so much that the world will never see of John Lennon ! Was watching Monday night football when Howard Cosell broke it remember it well ! Thanks Jordan your the best !!!!
Great video :)
Growing up with the Beatles, it was really sad when John was murdered. It's hard to grasp the idea why people do what they do. Wow an Oscar Wilde bar. Awesome. Glad you hooked up with your friend. It will make for a great trip. Loved this Jordan!!! Thank you. Be safe. Much love to you and Jah ❤❤❤🦁
Glad to see you in my city. Enjoy. No place like it!!!
Another great vlog, Jordan. The Dakota has a long dark history -- so much so that Ira Levin used it for the setting of the novel "Rosemary's Baby" and Polanski shot the opening titles sequence for the film there, though in the novel and the movie it was renamed the "Bramford."
Thank you🙏👍
