yes it is very hard. People have to get there at 8am or there are generally no spots left

What is your career goal ? you should socialize more, it really helps you when you get out in the real world. It helps you to understand people and what makes them tick. Also understanding how to help your career advance and help others with their careers, this is essential in life success. If you are selfish, it's much more difficult in the real world. That's what silly average people do out there. You seem much more smarter than that.
