    I’ve worked on some fire trucks that had the same problem. Ended up being a battery issue with the ground side, put ground wires on engine and radiator to frame and such, flushed out the system and it went away. I guess all the electrical stuff was causing electrolysis in the coolant system. Anyway just a thought have a great day enjoyed the video.

    Hey Tim those baby Knipex channelocks are pretty handy.
    Best choice in my opinion

    Tim, I have seen this several times, if you have put new coolant im and it turns back rusty brown like that. Then you are getting air in the coolant system through a bad heater core or radiator. the comments on the ground wires is also very correct.

    You need a complete coolant flush new antifreeze with coolant inhibitors added. It will stop that problem

    Good morning!
    Tim it could be one of the shut off valves is bad I have seen that before
    On the heater hoses
    Or a hose has collapsed or pinched
    Y’all have a good day buddy 👍

    I second the coolant flush, heard of guys using dishwasher liquid or CLR. Just need to get rid of the phosphates and rust.

      @@CrimeVid I've also heard that or letting them sit overnight can eat through fittings, hoses, coolers etc.

    Someone needs to flush that cooling system really. Good. A flush that takes at least a hour will do it a world of good.

  • @islipfdchief
    @islipfdchief Před 3 lety +1

    Flush and add a coolant filter. Your SCA levels must be way off. As a cheat swap the heater hoses to run the "mud" the other way. With 10,000 hours that coolant should have been changed at least three times already. One hour is equal to 30 miles.

    Looks like it's time to wax the cab it's getting a little dull from the sun. Keep a check on the DCA level in the cooling system and it will help control the rust. Good video hope you have heat now.

    FLUSH , ADD GROUND STRAPS AND ADD WATER FILTER. CHECK PH. ON WATER, EVERY OIL CHANGE .

    A flush and cleanse would go a long way. Cascade works wonders on doing the cleanse. Just takes patience to make sure it’s flushed good. Tap water is out anymore has to be distilled water.

    Seen this a bunch on Deere equipment. And im sure it happens on other brands as well. But what I normally do is replace the core, all the lines, the coolant recovery tank, and put new coolant in.

    If you want I can give you a bunch of free advice. None of it will be correct or anything you haven't already thought of... but it will make me feel better. LOL. (life as a youtube subscriber). Hope that worked. Staying in the high 20's here in Western Pa now. Would love to stay inside but I decided I needed a german shorthaired pointer pup and if I don't let her take me for a 2 mile walk, she'll complain the rest of the day. Economy has me off work now. So, I guess I needed this project(pup) to keep me busy.

    Looks like the old girl has a little bit of blow-by. Is that the original engine? We don't get half that many hours out of a deere engine. Or pumps/ pump drives for that matter.

    Is the fan working on it to the heater and or is the thermostat in it stuck open possibly cause usually if heater coil is plugged ya could either get a temp raise in engine cause it's not circulating thru good but just a couple things to check but again I'm sure your aware of it better than I do but again just throwing my 2cents worth in.lol but great vid and godbless

    Are you running Cool Guard in the system. Stop corrosion and electrolysis on you piston liners.
    I thought it was a sales trick by John deere to get you to buy expensive coolant, until you see how clean the cooling system stay with that in.

  • @jimharpine6853
    @jimharpine6853 Před 3 lety +2

    Completely Flush your system and when refilling your coolant system NEVER use tap water ONLY use distilled water. The minerals in tap water will cause the problem you have now.

    I'm not an engineer but I don't know why they use liquid heater core systems. They are nasty in my opinion. I don't see why they can't design an electric heater core system.
