  • There are a number of places in SE Alaska to see bears but one of the best is the Anan wildlife observatory. Anan Creek has one of the largest runs of pink salmon in Southeast Alaska, which supports a high density of black and brown bears. The facilities here consist of a viewing platform and photo blind that overlook the stream. The site is a short, ½ mile, walk up from the beach.

I can’t thank you enough for this wonderful video! I just shared it in live chat on the new Anan live cam in order to give chatters perspective on the area. Bravo!

Thanks, very informative. There's a new live cam at this site but its focused tightly on the creek and doesn't show the wider area like you do in your video. Curious how the black bears respond when a brown bear shows up.
