  • A benchmark ball is typically one you can control on a lot of different lane conditions. There is one very important metric you need to pay attention to when looking at the SPECTO data when considering a benchmark ball and that is the Impact Angle vs. the Entry Angle. When the Impact Angle is very close to or lower than the Entry Angle, the ball is very smooth on the backend and is rolling forward as it enters the pocket. This is a control ball and exactly what you want in a benchmark bowling ball.
    🚨🚨🚨BRAND NEW BRUNSNICK MERCH!🚨🚨🚨
    I have collaborated with Inside Bowling to design some t-shirts and here they are! Sport some OG BrunsNick gear, check out the link!

    With the help of SPECTO data, it'll help tell the story about reaction shape, overall hook and continuation through the pins. Here are the SPECTO data points used and definition of each term:
    Launch Speed - Speed measured off the hand.
    Entry Speed - Speed measured at the pins. (What you'd see on your home center MPH screens)
    Rev Rate - Revolutions Per Minute (RPM)
    Launch Angle - The angle the ball traveled the first 10 feet.
    Break Point Position - Board at which the ball was at its outermost position.
    Total Hook - Total number of boards the ball crosses on the way to the pins.
    Hook Power - Number of boards the ball hooked based on the True Breakpoint.
    Entry Angle - The angle of the ball between 51 and 55 feet.
    Impact Angle - The angle of the ball between 57 and 59.5 feet.
    Pin Deck Exit - Ball position at the end of the pin deck.

    it being a solid it makes me wonder how much of that angle it would retain with 2 or 3k applied .. Great review and some good shooting.

    Not sure if you want to do a comparison with this ball, but the radioactive vibe has similar core numbers, and is also a solid with hk22 and compound finish, just like this ball

    I’m liking the look of this ball. I’m currently using a GB4 hybrid a lot and liking it. How does the ball compare with the Pandemonium Pearl or Intel Pearl? Both are in my collection and have been used often. I could definitely have some success with this one.

    Pre-ordered the break away and BW 3.0. My first HK22 experience was with Tundra Fire and since then my arsenal is nothing but HK22. Happy to be back to Brunswick. Nick, is there anyway you can convince them to remake the OG Melee Jab with HK22 and/or NeXXus f(P+R)/ Nexus f(P) with HK22? 😆😆😆

    Hi! I think you mentioned in a previous video that all coverstocks/base (Solid, Hybrid, Pearl) are the same and the difference between them is determined by the amount of powdered Pearl additive? And that ball manufacturers used to use a liquid pearl additive but the manufacturers of the liquid pearl additive raised the price of the additive so much that ball manufacturers went back to using the older powdered pearl additive. If there's a source/document of that information, I'd enjoy reading it. Thanks for all that you do for us with your ball and bowling accessories reviews!

    Hey Nick, i was wondering how you might compare this to the Raw Hammer Hybrid. Truthfully, i have no need for a new ball, but i can’t help myself in at least experiencing as many as possible. (my shop is hosting a bowl fest including this and many others including the ultimate defender.) I guess my question is- would either of those, if it all, have a similar motion to the raw hammer hybrid? Thanks, love your content!

    • @brunsnick
      @brunsnick  Před 4 měsíci

      This was quite a lot stronger than the RAW Hammer Hybrid thanks to the coverstock strength.

    Is the Entry Speed the same as the speed at the monitors on the bowling center?

    • @christopherwilson7004
      @christopherwilson7004 Před 5 měsíci

      No. My house has the speed at the sweep so it's closer to entry speed. Other places I'm about 1.5 miles fast due to them being by the cameras. I wish we had a speedometer near the arrows. It would be the most consistent.

    • @brunsnick
      @brunsnick  Před 5 měsíci

      Joe, yes. Entry speed is what you would see at the pins on your scoring screens at home.

    Is there any rules to understand how the post drilling numbers change from smaller to larger pin to pap lengths and val angles?

    • @brunsnick
      @brunsnick  Před 5 měsíci

      A lot of variables there but it all comes down to where the mass is being taken out of a given core to how it affects after drilling numbers.

    • @airammitchell682
      @airammitchell682 Před 5 měsíci

      @brunsnick that makes sense. The more you take away from a given part of the core you increase rg or diff and creat intermediate. So post drilling number really are as much about core shape as it is layout. Got it!

    • @brunsnick
      @brunsnick  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Absolutely. Sometimes just a 30° shift in PSA can mean .010-.015 points in intermediate differential because you could either hit the dense moment arm or miss it entirely.

    • @airammitchell682
      @airammitchell682 Před 5 měsíci

      @brunsnick last question. So wouldn't didn't PAPs with same layout strike the core different thus changing after drilling numbers? Which in turn changes the motion? Or is accounting for pap with a layout suppose to allow for the holes to hit the core the same?

    • @brunsnick
      @brunsnick  Před 5 měsíci +1

      @airammitchell682 very minor influence. We addressed this on Perception vs Reality Podcast Episode 43. The numbers were only a few points off after drilling.
