- Egan Performance upgrades for Sthil 362CM Chainsaw.
Installed and test Air Filter and Exhaust from Egan Performance Saws.
Save 6 seconds per cut - wow what a difference. Makes the the Sthil 362 sound pretty bad ass too.
Thanks for a great upgrade and product support Egan Performance!

Thank you for sharing this. Don’t mind these negative comments! People can be mean sometimes. The saw ran faster with the barkbox and new filter. I think it’s great! I do not have a 362, but I have a 2024 Stihl 261 with 20” bar, mine is manual carb adjust model. I think I am going to add the same mods as you! The before and after looks great!
I think im gonna take a bath with a toaster oven after watching this video! For crying out loud man!!
Need yo work on the video skills - especially speeding things up! I get it.
I don’t have a toaster oven but I hope a hair dryer will work🤣
I have the straight shot and the dawgs from Egan on my 400. Definitely going to check out the air filter kit thanks for sharing!! New subscriber 👍👍
Thanks for subscribing 608! Happy to have you. Doing a short overview and review of a new to me log splitter from Split-Fire today.
Hey 608 - I should have asked are the dawgs worth getting? What type of difference did they make?
@@100Acre-Firewood yes I think so. Seems to keep the muffler further away from the log. I was cutting a dead oak tree once that had no bark on it and after my cut I noticed smoldering embers near my cut where the muffler was touching the log.
Do the dawgs grip better then stock?
@@100Acre-Firewood yes for sure!
Great Video! Just picked up my 362 R CM this week to start clearing new property for a build site. Although I will run stock for the first couple month, then plan to use the West Coast Saw Bark Box & filter upgrades. but I liked your resetting of the M Tronic steps. Could really hear that difference in the recalibration occurring.
Did you perform a break in on the 362 when first bought it? Read forums and some say to just idle the first tank of fuel or perform light work with 75% throttle for first couple tanks of fuel then off to full use. Any Thoughts?
I just did some light cutting and ran through about 3 tanks of fuel. I used the Sthil fuel they sell with the saw but mostly because it extends your warranty. After that I did the upgrades - have not been out cutting for a while due so damp crappy weather up here. Looking forward to get back in the game soon!
Two stroke engines need back-pressure to develop high RPM. Expansion chambers have been used for years on dirt bikes, snowmobiles, and yes Hot Saws. Straight pipes only make more noise.
Thanks for the note.
The expansion chambers and mufflers are for the sound waves, not back pressure.
Nice i need this on my 362 just did it to my 500i and hell of a difference. Your 362 sounds good hope it was a cutting day for you im hoping to get out this weekend when im off
I didn’t get out cutting much wood that day unfortunately. Hoping to spend some decent time on it next week destroying some ash trees! Loving that it will save some time with all the cutting I need to do. Would LOVE to try out a 500i with these add ons… must be a treat.
i only did the exhaust and that woke her up .hope that happens for you100. im working on getting out to the yard myself but sadly time is not on my side right now . enjoy it and keep them coming
Would recommend trying the intake too - I kind of wish I ordered the dawgs from Egan when I ordered the intake and exhaust.
Man i bought a new 362c and i have buyer's remorse as my buddy just got the new 562mk2 Husky and his Husky is much faster stock off the shelf! Ive got the same straight shot and filter as you on my 362 and his stock 562 whips my saw!! We both have the 24in bar and i got us each a new C83 chain so it was a even competition! So ive got a newv362 for sale and ordered the 562 mk2!!
Ted - you guys do a video of the face off? I have had Husky’s in the past and they never seem to last - I have an old Stihl Farm Boss from 19 years ago still kicking. Would love to see that face off between the 2 saws.
The 562 is faster but a 362 is a very durable saw and I’m betting it will outlast a 562. So I guess it all depends what’s important long life or some extra speed. I fix saws for a tree service and a bunch of his 362’s are 10-12 years old.
@@christopherlehman4045 oh I rebuild saws also and I get 562s in still running with over 1000 hrs on them! Saw was just to cut my firewood!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for the super love Big Hearts!
make sure you spray that filter
Not pre-oiled enough in your mind Jalen? It did seem a little dry vs what I am used with dirt bike filters. Thanks for the tip - I will give it a little top up.
These comments are amazing.
Thanks!
Was that a 30sec cut ? An I the only one wandering what is going on . And also why did it stop cutting in the cut . Upgrades u need bigger saw. Imo
If I remember right it was shorter then 30 seconds and I didn’t stop… I will have another look.
What size bar are you running on that 362?
I am running the Sthil Light 06 25" bar on the 362 - I was blown away when dealer showed me the weight difference between the Light 06 and the stock one. My other saw is a MS 241 with a 16" bar so the difference between the 2 is significant. I like the short/smaller MS 241 for a lot of quick stuff but the 362 is the first that I have had with over an 18" bar and what a difference it makes bucking up logs - way less bending and a lot faster on the big stuff.
Not trying to be crazy... you give me anxiety watching. Those bolts you put in the bottom were for the top because of the thickness of the new exhaust housing being larger. Your top bolts engage that many threads into the head before you start to torque them. I was happy for you that it did not strip the head out.
Martin - I give myself anxiety! I totally got lucky with that - right after I did it I reached out to Jason @ Egan Performance and asked someone that knows... He told me those were for the top - I think that I updated that in the video with a little fly out. Thanks for pointing it out - I will also add that to my description for the video. You can now be less anxious - when I took those top ones out I was surprised I got them to thread in.
I am happy it all worked out. These saws are not cheap. Then, having to replace or tap something for our own screw ups really burns. No worries, though we have all made mistakes. That is how the "expert" mechanics on here actually became expert. Lol
I am by far that expert, but I am over observant.
stand up and buck bro learn the tip of your bar
I hear you Chad - learning from Buckin Billy!
you know it bud merry Christmas bud@@100Acre-Firewood
I dont like straight shots, too much sound. A regular side muffler mod does the same thing with less noise.
I have not tried a side muffler mod - might give that a shot on my smaller saw to get a little more power out of it. I really like the sound out the the Straight Shot and we do not really have houses or people close to us where we cut most of our wood.
You hit the dirt everytime… dulling your chain.. lift the log it’s on a bobcat for Pete’s sake .
Damn it - did I hit the dirt it these? I have to take another look. Still get getting to know this much longer bar. Never had a bar over 18” before this one.
Lol..a blade.
Damn it did I call the bar a blade? That is lame for sure... First couple videos - still nervous on camera I guess... Maybe blade will catch on? ;)
Painful to watch
I know need to get better at fast forwarding…
Get a bigger saw if you want more power
Didn’t want to break the bank on the 500…
