The US Open is the final Grand Slam of the year and takes place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The 2021 US Open saw Russia's Daniil Medvedev and Great Britain's Emma Raducanu claim the men's and women's singles titles. It was both players' first major title, with 18-year-old Raducanu becoming the first-ever qualifier to achieve the feat. The 2022 US Open main draw is scheduled to go ahead between August 30 - September 11.

So Emma went from 0-2 down in the first set to winning it 6-2, then going 5-0 up in the second...... 11 games won in a row, from a qualifier !

emma's mental game is amazing, sometimes u forget she is only 18. she is consistently smart, talented, and skilled.. she is def on her way on winning a few more grand slams

This young girl fought herself out of qualifiers. She still shows the joy of the game. Purposeful, focused, modest. Regardless of her genetic components, nationality, what she accomplished is amazing. Incredible performance. She and her helpers deserve all the credit.

@@fatwp6345 I wrote because of the unworthy reactions I read here. Wherever you live, you can respect this girl. I live in Hungary, so I am not affected in any way. I have no prejudice against any nation, so it doesn’t hurt for me when a British is proud to have a British flag next to Emma’s name on the scoreboard.

It's clear that this kid got so much more mobility and range of motion, plus unbelievable determination.
And to think that Shelby Rogers had just beaten the no.1 player before she played Emma Raducanu.
This match really showed her mental resilience. She was down a break to begin the match and Roger was about to break Emma's server the second time with two breaks down in the third. If she had broken down then and Roger hold serve, it would have been 4-0 and potentially had a bagel set but she managed to claw her way back in that game and went on that crazy 11 game streak. She then was tested again serving out the second set up 5-1 with double break but managed to win the game and match. What's telling about that game was that even though she was up 5-1 she treated it like she's down 1-5 trying to stay in the match showing much passion and outbursts.
Are there any stats of how many break points she faced in US Open compared to other players ? And how many she actually won ? I feels like a million......to me this seems her biggest asset, to face numerous break points and still win.

@@kimacronym2521 Not just that, even if she gets broken, she will break back twice more as it happened a few times, and as we know, no tie-breakers in any of her matches so she broke back plus one a few times.
@@gaskellr44 Yes my bad on not adding a 's' to Shelby's last name and probably more clear if I used her first name instead. Having said that, the video content is about these two ladies and the other responders don't seem to have any problem understanding the intent. I guess some need that extra clarity to be not mislead.
@@morninghope1 ye the lol was more directed at myself as i'd just read an article on Roger Federer discussing that Rad and young tennis players like her need to be aware of the dangers of social media which is why I was probably thrown a bit.

You can only beat the one on the other side of the net. But, yeah, Barty would've been probably a tougher out for sure.
US media actually chose Leyla for their story. So thats all the hype about. Osaka and Kerber have all been defeated by very ordinary players in the past but the sensation and the hype created is because of winning the match after facing the match point. The problem here is that Emma despite being an underdog in almost all her matches, never played like an underdog. Leyla on the other hand started to enjoy playing as an underdog. And crowd loves underdog. They even forgive and ignore the lack of sportsmanship of underdogs.
Strange, that anybody should think of Rogers as a weak player. Her credentials include some impressive victories
@@abadullahkhan9998 yup I agree. But I think when media said that Emma wasn't facing top opponent that's why she could win,, I think that's not true. Because she is the real winners, she could beat who has beaten top players that was Leylah in final.

She’s exhausted. Her coach sent her on holiday right after. It’s tough on her as an Aussie being unable to get home since March (covid rules) and she’s a homebody too. I don’t think we’ll see the best of her again until 2022 season starts tbh

What a biased compilation of shots and commentary, anyone who did not know the result might have thought Rogers won this match yet she was thumped by Emma R. Clearly a biased US bit of work here.

To bad your so late to the game. All these us open clips have been out for weeks and weeks. Maybe next time don’t wait a month after the tournament has ended. Real tennis Enthusiast will find it right away not a month later. Do better!! You would have had triple the likes and views had you been on the ball.
Perhaps there were certain contract stipulations with certain broadcasters eg. Amazon Prime, that prohibited the CZcams release of the entire match until a certain amount of time had passed?

Shelby Rogers has won 2 matches against Leylah Fernandez. Hate to break it to you but in 2021 Fernandez did not even win a set at the Australian Open, French Open nor Wimbledon. In 14 out of 17 tournaments played she went home losing in round 1 or 2. Fernandez has a awful 2021 record outside of this US Open run

Kerber and osaka have repeatedly lost matches to less than ordinary players. Not one offs, repeatedly
So many winning points from the loser, yet this Yankee propaganda video makes it look like Shelby was the winner? Radacanu slaughtered her really folks???
It's interesting that in all her matches her opponents had lots of winners but never won a set and lost in quick time. Raducanu never gives up and has lots of shots, if she can keep this up she'll be hard to beat. Plus the blood break, whilst totally justified, showed some street smarts, particularly while Fernandez lost the plot.
I observed the same, very poorly compiled highlights. Watching highlights alone, one could easily think Shelby won the match, in reality, obvious it was the opposite.
Raducanu hopefully won't end up like Kournikova or that canadian instagram girl I can't remember the name of.. Pretty girls sometimes take the easy ticket to fame and endorsements. Would be a huge loss for the sports and the fans.
This will not happen with Emma. You can tell she was raised right. Much credit to her parents.
She has won a slam. Instantly that takes her somewhere where neither Kournikova nor the Canadian (I presume you mean Bouchard) have been before, so I wouldn't be concerned about where the trappings of fame and endorsements may take her...
I heard she has plan to go to university in the future to pursue ecomonics major...she has been.raised well by her parents...i guess something like fame will not bother her alot...because she has plan her future verywell
She's already said 'It's nice to get invited to events, but she would rather being playing tennis.' and 'I never went out and partied, as I loved practicing more'.
Her easy ticket would've been to have kept her old coach and not bothered pursuing a more experienced one, which shows how serious she is about her art and her development.
It also so shows she is as ruthless off the court as well as on it.
this definitely wont happen with emma, she has the eye for the prize and was raised by strict parents
