Take a Walk with Tavia #40 highlights Gateway Joe Pye Weed (Eupatorium maculatum ‘Gateway’.) The large flower heads on this plant attract many different types of butterflies.
Gorgeous - thank you for the video. I'm going to try to plant this at the back of my gardens as you suggest - fingers crossed it can handle my average garden soil (rather than the moist soil it generally wants).
Hi @TheSuburbanGardenista, is your Joe Pye Weed growing okay? Just thought I'd check in with you and see how spring is treating you and your garden. Be well!
@@taviacathcartbrown4147 I just started it from seed sowing last fall - I'm still waiting for the wee ones to pop out of the soil! Thanks for checking in! Fingers crossed they make it!
@@TheSuburbanGardenista You are more patient than I am by growing it from seed :). By the way, if you know anyone who has one, a tiny section can be chopped off (dug out) and it won't hurt the clump, and is a great way to get one started in your garden.
@@taviacathcartbrown4147 I'm hit and miss with my patience lol Thanks for the tip! I don't know of anyone, but if I find a friend with one, I'll ask them for some! Thanks again! 💚
@@TheSuburbanGardenista Most gardeners wish they had a magic wand to instantly create beautiful gardens! It's a great irony because we work hard to create a beautiful and nutritious place for ourselves and pollinators (and other wildlife). I think most successful gardeners must be optimistic, tenacious, and yes, stubborn.
Beautiful plant! It's nice to know there's a smaller version that will work in most gardens. Thanks for sharing your video.
Hi Kristi, I'm glad you watched! Thanks so much! Enjoy!

Pinch them once or twice before it blooms in mid-summer-August for a shorter JOW but with much more branches and flowers!
I need one of those in my garden.
Hi! Yes, we should all have this wonderful plant in our gardens. It's especially beloved by butterflies and bees.
Get at least three!
Gateway Joe Pye Weed is a gateway to harder Joe Pye Weeds.
Funny! Enjoy!
