  • I've been visiting San Diego, California for more than 50 years, and photographing there for almost four decades. It truly is one of my favorite bird photography locations on the planet. The Pacific race Brown Pelicans with their fire-engine red and olive green bill pouches, are indeed the stars of the show, but there are lots of other great birds there that are relatively easy to photograph. Check out this five minute video to see the potential.

From here in San Diego all I can say is great summary Artie. Lots of construction has occurred down by the cove, new condos at Goldfish Point, a new restroom complex coming together down the hill by the swimmer's beach. Only thing I would add for folks doing this IPT is keep your eyes open for peregrine falcons, they have been in the area. Also black oystercatchers out on the rocks. I was at Santee Lakes the last few weeks and never have seen as many wood ducks, dozens at a time. Enjoy.

Thanks a stack, Roger. I had a peregrine image in the video but it did not make the cut :) with love, artie

@@arthurmorris4932 one more thing Artie, Santee Lakes now has a lovely restaurant with a large patio over one of the lakes. Sip a drink or grab a meal while watching the big white American pelicans fly by. Another great attraction in that birding hotspot

Hello, Mr. Morris! Love your work. I just got some nice shots of pelicans myself at Anna Maria Island. I posted them on dpreview under Nature and Wildlife Photography, titled, "Pelican On the Pier." I know you're a busy guy but if you found the time would you please look at them and critique them, I would be honored.
Nice video, I always enjoy them and I can't wait for your next one.
