How to Remove Baffles from Indian Scout Stock Exhaust

  • In this tutorial we drill out the first layer of baffles in the exhaust of a 2017 Indian Scout. It may be difficult to hear the difference in the video, but the result is a slightly louder and deeper note from the exhaust. Drilling out the second layer of baffles will further deepen the sound.
Here are the mp3's of the before and after of the exhaust.

Finally got my Scout and this is the first thing I did. The only thing I'd add: On my 2021 Scout, there's a lip around the circumference that extends towards the exit of the pipe. try not to drill into this. move the holesaw past this lip (jiggle it!) before you start drilling.

I just did this in a 2023 scout rogue 60. Used a 1 1/4, it’s harder than it looks. Drill slow, try and get the hole saw past the lip just before the baffle it’ll take some reversing and forward and it getting stuck. The sound difference was VERY noticeable to me. Its a night and day difference with the deep purr, enough to keep me happy until I get the Vance and Hines, but when I heard the difference from the baffle alone I’m a bit scared of the V and H even with their quiet baffle

There is no need to buy a slip on for this bike cause you have 3 settings that you can do, which it was designed for which is not told by the manufacturer
Cut 1 plug will give the tone of a aftermarket but the noise of a oem system. The whistle will go away and be replaced with a uneven firing order gurgle but only 5 dbs more.

Its more about "Hear me before you see me". Not everyone should be driving cars you know. Its easy to buy cars but very difficult to drive them safely. Some car drivers think rear view mirror is a car beautification accessory or used for application of makeup and side view mirrors are for making the car look wider. I live in an area surrounded by South Asians (I am one as well) in Bay Area. I can assure you, if you do not give them a heart attack inducing notification by revving up, they will drive like they own the road, turn when they feel like (indicators have not been invented yet. Why tell your enemy on the road about your intention to turn) , break when they want to and speed up instead of slowing down when the traffic light turns yellow. So yeah.
