I'm 54 years old and this is the first time I got to see the woodpecker actually eating , so they peck the bark off and the wood boring grubs come out of their holes to become dinner . Fascinating !

Also a small animal, so doesnt need to eat as much as you, those small wood créatures and worms are more than enough of what it could ask for.. so think again... life would be easy. Its eating, natural and unrefined foods that wont make it crave ussless extra. Us humans would have to work a whole lot harder for our food. Look at amazonian tribes and other ancient tribal cultures for example.

It’s an interesting maneuver. They have a type of tongue bone that they use by wrapping it around their brain to cushion it while it’s pecking through thick tree bark.

As it is already mentioned in another video, about this bird, it's a Arboreal bird never sitting on ground always sitting "vertically" on tree trunk. Very interesting indeed. In India we have few varieties.

My grandson and I seen three of the redheaded woodpeckers today. My grandson is 5 years old and that's the first time that he had ever seen them. I told him God blessed us to be able to see three of them at one time. In the woods on our front porçh . Thank you God for blessing us for this rare find of nature.
