This is where the magic began for me, so to speak. I remember watching this video not long after it was posted and now I'm happy I got to see them live multiple times. It's crazy to think that they've just celebrated a decade of music together 🖤
5:50 that scream really scared the shit out of me
😆
Same here #hailsatan 😈😂
That's a good vocal representation of teenage angst....good old classic teenage angst! : - D
Is that scream symbolic of teenage angst or the scream of an Eagle or possibly....both!? : - O
what you KEXP are doing is beyond human comprehension!
and for that
I salute YOU!
I love this bands honest sound and emotion that punches through the language barrier. I made a point to catch three of their performances during Airwaves'14
I wish Kælan mikla had an album with this music on it. It's Raw, Powerful and full of Emotion with punk . Not saying the songs on the album released are bad. Just like the simplicity of the instruments. No guitar and no synth. Thank you for giving us this.
Surprised no-one has responded to you. The album "Manadans" is this stuff, kind of a demo album that they released after the first album. Its on iTunes. You might have to fact check what I've written; but, I have the album and it's good.
Rena, Thank you for the response. Yes at the time of my post iTunes did not have Manadans listed but since then I did find and get. Agree with you all the way what a great album I grab up everything I came from this band.
Thanks again
I love all their material, but this set, and the live sets at KEXP are cream of the crop
how did i ever survive with this band not being in my life; incredible. xoxoxo
This is so pure.
Right? The emotion transcends language
This band is my discovery of this 2020.I am very happy when I listen this music. i wish you a great success in the future.
I have no idea what they're singing, but I dig it
Looks like the intro was what a priest says in iceland when they start an exorcism !!!
"aiieeee aiiiieee the rape is bad! aiieee aiiieee it is so hard! my iPad's battery is dead, like my soul! aiiieeee when will my period end?!! aiieee it is so awful! they ran out of black liiippppp STiiickkkkkkk!"
You're welcome.
I know, right!? Sure I can't understand Icelandic but it's a beautiful language and this band hasn't done a song I don't like! : - D
@@Monkey-Boy2006 ॐ Well I shiva will go down with this ship And I will not hold up my hands and surrender There will not be a white flag above my door I am in love and always will be
@@shivamons810 that sounds beautiful! But I'm confused, is that lyrics to one of the songs?
I don't know your language but when she screams I feel it
SanguineVulpes right? Gives you the chills... In a good way.
Awesome bass and drums, I didn't understand a word of the vocals but I loved every syllable. Fantastic band, Great riffs, hypnotic drums, engaging vocals, and I love that High octave sound she goes into.
Saw them in London and they were incredible. Pure talent. I could compare but no need, strong influences from the best bands but unique and a joy to have them in 2022. Robert Smith would be proud! Oh yes, he is!!!!
Ian Curtis would also be beaming RIP
I love this band. That raw sound, the passion....yes, there may be other more "technically" advanced bands, but they are getting better and better all the time, and I love the sound.
PS The lead singer could be arrested for aggravated assault on a microphone any day now......if any microphone isn't too scared to press charges.
I love these girls! If the cure and bjork had 3 daughters this would be them!
Being old enough, I detect the echoes of Enya throughout modern culture. This is a nicer example. The Feminine w/o a dictated pre-fab corporate image in tow, but instead a reference to a sensibility prior to the all-encompassing wisdom of modern Feminism. Yeah, the Pagan vibe is marketable, just no constructed, soft, lowest common denominator compression.
Großartige Musik, tolle Band. Menschen wie euch braucht diese Welt. Wenn ich euch sehe, ist doch noch nicht alles verloren.
this is absolutelly incredible, Kaelan Mikla is poetry
looking back this has been one of my favorite live recordings of a performance by kælan mikla
Raw and intense, beautiful and so simple. 🖤

Tryhard. The song list was already in the video don't description. You literally copied and pasted it dumdum.
Thx
Amazing performance 🖤
I really wanna know the fuck they're talking about
Try Rosetta Stone
Jim May
You really mean he should learn icelandic just to understand their lyrics?
(I guess it's icelandic)
DerEchteBold it is, yeah.
DerEchteBold
Ja
i thought you were talking about the band haha
KM are by some margin the most exciting new(ish) band I have come across for years. had the enormous privilege of seeng them earlier this year, pre-lockdown, and they were fabulous. Sold their own merchandise and was able to speak to all three. They were all so graceful, friendly and, let's be honest, absolutely gorgeous - and it was a joy to spend a few moments with them. They need and deserve to be massive but I hope they keep their open and natural natures when it happens. Natural stars and so very talented
Her teeth so so cute omg I’m in love
This set is just so incredible, I return again and again - you don't need to understand Icelandic to feel the power that these women possess
Saw these beautiful ladies live
AGREE, THE CHARM OF THIS BAND IS THE SIMPLICITY IN THEIR MUSIC, I LIKE...!
True! However such simplicity is compensated with large amounts of passion in their interpretation, creative assambleges between them and the unique atmosphere they create in their songs.
Find myself coming back from working day and the first thing i do is looking for this in the "Tube" !!! love your music...love your art ...
Beautiful
I really dig what they're doing with just bass, drums and voice. Those who want more can go elsewhere.
To early OM perhaps haha.. also just drums, bass and voice :)
Agreed! 😊
I just love them 💙
consistently brilliant
I don't understand a word she's saying... And I don't care... These Chicks freakin' Rock .... Wow.. I love the whole put together
First time I heard Kalt I knew I was going to listen to this band for years haha
iceland is killing it. make america like iceland again.
Best comment 😂😂😂😂
Totally agree, lots of awesome bands
well, the vikings had a chance and they missed it
After Greenland, Iceland is next on USA shopping list.
@@peterpiotrowski8995 Israel. Not USA.
Again?! America is a fucking cesspit.
The bass really has that 'Joy Division' kind of vibe.
I agree, the bassist plays very melodically!
They're fans of Joy Division, The Cure, Portishead, and others. The influences are definitely clear.
@@BryceKatz dont forget bauhaus
It's because that whole sound is stolen and completely unoriginal.
@@davidmata4786 and
First time i hear them, pretty amazing !
the bassist is wicked ...man I wish I could understand Icelandic ? - The Drummer has a beautiful voice
Brings me back to the Joy Division and my goth days back in the 80's
Don't forget The Cure and Siouxsie, please. ; )
love it.. its true
No clue what they are singing but what a great band, great music.
Awesome band!! Love their dark essence... Well, I'm going to take a Icelandic course!! 🔥💪🏼🖤🇮🇸🤘🏼

Let's go this one!! :-) www.songkick.com/concerts/32146904-she-past-away-at-bi-nuu
I love this band
Very raw yet awesome, the bass sound, the voices and simplistic composition is great.
awesome!!! wanna get an album
absolutely love it.. looking forward to seeing your band tmrw! in LONDON!
In Portland/Seattle they make bands without basses. In Iceland they make bands with ONLY basses. I think KEXP may be looking for a merger. This is international relations at its finest.
Merge this with "Gothic Architecture" have a listen gothicarchitecture.bandcamp.com/
I'm sure the drummer would beg to differ.
So does Death From Above 1979.
If music knows no language, this is one. just wow!
Graciaaaaaas❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
need to bring back the drummer for live shows
atmosfera e performance intenso. diferente e estranho ... mas da vontade de escutar novamente . original e isso é diferencial ... parabéns
its old icelandic poetry i think but im pretty sure they didnt write it they just made a new version with a new feeling of the poetry but for those who dont understand icelandic it dont really matter its the feeling of the music that allways matters the most
i like it
En la simpleza de su sonido se encuentra la perfección, maravilloso.. saludos desde Colombia!
Love, love, love, these bad ass ladies
3 Icelandic schoolgirls went out on the winter solstice and stared at the full moon too long, which turned them into witches......
Yep, good stuff and fun times! ; - )
Oh my this is great. What an excellent thing to stumble upon.
These Women Rock!!!! The Edge is razor sharp!!!! Awesome!!!
The energy is unbelievable, this band deserves global recognition, many people are going to love them - not just teenagers!
it sticks already right to my craw
Amazing discovery! 😻
A beautiful language .
Thanks Kælan mikla and KEXP !
Looks to be a very young band. They keep the heart in it, like I see here, then the music will follow if they stick together. You must begin somewhere and I say this is a great start. The music flowed nicely and the emotion gave a nice punch in the chest. Good luck ladies
National Man Of Mystery
Actually this is the pearls and you are the swine ; )
I just got a strong feeling in 1989 in Seattle there was some wise critic saying " you gotta dig through the dirt to get to the fucking golden nuggets. This is the dirt". ∆ why even say anything idiot
if you have nothing positive to say than say nothing.
Sometimes bad things should be spoken... no matter what. I can't enjoy fully this music, but they definitelly have something to say and they got style... but there are some extremelly annoying parts that very few people can stand... including me. The music and performance will evolve I'm sure. Be back in a few years.
Elas melhoraram muito em 2024. Hoje é a banda que mais ouço.
l like so much this art.
nice bass!!
my friend emil showed me this band
now I can’t contact him because he is isolating from world
I don’t know where you are but please respond me
I miss you so much
Wow!? Hopefully you reconnect with your friend Emil. He sounds great.
I hope emil came back
Emil, show up u dick! People are worried
Emil, earthling brother, go to vipassana meditation
Any sign of Emil yet ?
Ég hef elskað tónlistina hans í langan tíma. Takk fyrir að deila
Magic!
RAW opium for the soul!
Last song, ends with such magic, so deep.
I don´t know yet what the lyrics are about, but hearing both voices ending that song. I wish one day I could see them perform live.
Best wishes from Argentina.
This is so raw and badass and witchy and wonderful! I love these songs and how you guys perform!
Maravilhosas. Embalando minha quarentena.
THE ONE TIME I LISTEND TO A SONG AND NEVER HERAD THE LYRICS, LOVE IT. !!
stuck on repeat
Sounds really good, love it!🤘🏼❤️🤘🏼
i love her voice
How did it take me so long to find this group?
I believe Iceland is a totally unique place. Their music proves this time and time again.
Only just found this band & I'm hooked
I found so beautiful ❤️
A cada rato se me pierde y la vuelvo a encontrar buenisima banda
Insanely awesome
yeah, you are great !!! You are so real. Keep on doing !!! Thank you sisters
that was cool. Going google diving for this band immediatley.
magnifiche !
Amazing, I didn't even noticed early goth had been revitalised 🧛♀️
maravilloso, maravilloso.... Saludos desde México
Excelente 👌 desde 🇲🇽México
Saludos desde México también! Aunque apenas las descubrí este año, me ha gustado mucho su música.
English por favor
Perfect mix of Siouxsie, Anne Clarke and Joy division. Love it.
They play bass and drums. Not all music needs a guitar or synth. I think they're great.
check out "The Garden"
oh yeah, they use Synth ... That is what makes them called the new Cure.
Yeah it works.
All great bands start somewhere...event horizon here...
Weird comments... I'm really liking it so far... :)
To think I almost didn't click on this. Oh what sweet reward! The first of many listens for me for sure.
I'm in love with the banshee bass player
2022 : the drummer plays Atmospheric Keys 👍
Bim! 2 years laters... Still DOPE!
20 seconds on the video, I click Like. After 5 minutes I want to click the like button again. After 10 minutes, I really want to be able to click that "Like" more than once.
This sounds really good.
Magnifique.
This was the last band I seen live before covid stopped everybody's fun. They are awesome live.
Same here. On tour with Alcest. They were awesome. Both
Where Did you seem the gig of the girls?
