  • www.gobeyondthe... - Don’t bring anything you don’t have to. In addition to being relieved of most of your hair, you will be given everything you need down to pens, pencils, and nail clippers on your first day. Everything else you bring will end up in a storage room for the first couple months. When you see it again, whatever it is will almost certainly not be useful to you and will be a pain to store or dispose of later. So, take the chance to start fresh in a new place with absolutely nothing but the clothes on your back, which will themselves be placed in a cardboard box for shipment back to where you came from a couple hours after you arrive.

    No matter how ready you "think" you are for Plebe Summer and what follows --- YOU AREN'T!!
    Not only that, chances are that you and most of your new classmates will arrive as members of the top 3-4% of the academic achievers in the nationwide entering college Freshman class. You and your classmates will be hard against the far right end of the nationwide probability curve
    Like it or not, you will now find yourself belonging somewhere under a new probability curve, consisting only of your classmates.
    It will not be easy, nor should it be -- but you can do it!!
    Good luck from an old salt who's a member of the Class of 1957 (the last class to have a real Plebe Year)

    Truer words were never stated. The last part was key. 34 years later and I still consider my plebe year classmates as close friends.

    "How's the cow?"
    "I wouldn't know sir...I'm lactose intolerant" ..... is the wrong answer.

      Your point is well taken. His repeated pronunciation errors hurt his credibility in my humble opinion.

    You can go here and go to the marines right?

    • @hunterbruyere5052

      Yes you can. But it’s not a guarantee. I know guys who went to the Naval Academy and are Marine officers. But that doesn’t always work. If you really wanna go into the Marines, I wouldn’t go to the Academy because you aren’t guaranteed to become a Marine.

      Most officers of the US Marines go to OCS in Quantico.
      Naval Academy Marine officers usually get promotions faster and go higher in rank.

      A friend of mine, from high-school, graduated from the USNA, in 1981, and got commissioned into the Marines. My understanding is that, on-average, about one-sixth (16.7%) of the people in a USNA Graduating-Class indicate an interest in getting commissioned into the Marines, instead-of the Navy. I don't know what percentage actually GET commissioned into the Marines

      In the summer after you junior year you can attend a program called leatherneck
      It’s not a guarantee but it’s the main way to become a Marine through the academy
      It’s what I’m going to do

    Whats the difference between the naval academy and navy boot camp?

    • @kieranriyadh2605
      @kieranriyadh2605 Před 7 lety +13

      +Eden R The difference is that the Naval Academy is a college and Navy boot camp is when you enlist into the Navy

    • @72HoursFishing
      @72HoursFishing Před 6 lety +3

      The naval academy trains officers of the navy over a four year college degree. Boot camp is basic navy training for an enlisted personnel
