Kinda felt bad for Dyna for a while when the price point was so high that Softail and so on was comparable. Why now it has become Softail only to consolidate the lines. Since Softails priced at the same or near a dyna probably outsold anyway. Or say for 1k more get the softail.
We could argue that modification for a dyna as a canvas but it is true for a Softail or a sportster so it is moot. This lead to the merger of certain dyna styles as a Softail in the family

I specifically bought it to ride the 110ks to and from work each day here in the country. Another guy was on a husky te449 (good overall but cut out randomly alot) and finally the other guy was on a tiger 800 xc. Two of us are instructors and the other was a motocross racer and won a few championships. So we can all ride pretty well. The tiger was a nightmare frankly way way too heavy and too tall geared, ended up cooking the clutch twice. Hey yam daddy I just went for my first ride. I stalled a lot it was amazing and terrifying. It was raining lightly as well. Looks like I need to work on clutch control. Also ran into the I shifted all the way down to first but the bike didn’t. Did the rock back and forth thing you taught me and it worked. If only I would have tried that the first or second time I stalled but it took me like 5 lol. Starting with a 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan 500. Pulls me around just fine. I know it’s carbureted but I got it for $500

Nothing wrong with carbies (aside from having to wait for them to warm up on choke). Only thing you'd get flak for is that everyone should start on sports bike, then move to their preferred style, but even on that you get a pass because the smaller vulcans are fairly sporty cruisers, so it should teach you fairly well.

I mean, I love my SV but the tech package for the price is lacking and while it's a really solid all-rounder it also means it's not the best for any one thing. I'd argue that makes it a great first bike, though. It can be anything but not as well as something purpose-built. That makes it great for showing you the kind of bike you really want for your next bike, maybe your forever bike? Who knows.
But until that day comes when my SV gets traded in for a brand new , I'll still have a lot of fun because, turns out, motorcycles are fun and the SV650 is still a really fun one.

Jokes aside tho, he is right. The SV650 (Gen 1) suspension package is lacking, some of the materials used are cheap, you cant do dank nooners or it turns into an SV325 but damn. Got damn is it a fun bike to ride solo or with the bros. I will always keep this SV650 but eventually I will get a dedicated ADV, 600cc street bike, and maybe even a liter bike for the memes. In summary, the SV650 is an AMAZING machine to start with and even for experienced riders, just don't ask it to be top in class in any particular category. @@KegRaider my first bike was an 03 cbr600rr, rode that from 14 years old until I was about 20, then sold it to buy a shadow to trade my dad for is cbr1000rr. Rode that bike for only a couple years, yes it was insanely fun on curvy roads and long open road with no cops. But that thing destroyed my back and neck, now I'm going down to a new cb500f that I'm picking up tomorrow. Just need a nice light bike to commute to work while the gas prices are insane where I live. I don't really think I need a 600 for the price I'm getting and the gas mileage is great

@@TheBomberman122 Oh that price right!! If you had said to me 20 years ago that it would cost me $30 (Australia) to fuel up my motorbike, I would have laughed at you...... the 600 still gets great economy though, providing you don't wring it's neck every gear and ride sedately. I bought it when I was 25, so now being an old fart on a sports bike, i'm a lot more sedate than i used to be anyway :)

A Dyna or a Softail is not a sport bike and no amount of money can make it one. A 7k crotch rocket will always outperform a cruiser. The difference is this :
Harley Davidson builds heirloom motorcycles. The others do not. No one has ever bought a Harley and then traded it in for a Ninja. You may buy a Ninja for a 2nd bike, but the Harley will stay.
Sport Bikes are disposable, but Milwaukee steel hangs around.

SVs sure cost a pretty penny in the ol' US of A. Last month I bought nice 2005 with 30k miles on the clock for 2,5k here in Europe. And even in a tiny country like Czechia I could choose between like fifteen others going from 2 to about 3,5k. I got my STriple out for engine rebuild so I just bought nice donkey bike to fill in for it. Nothing bad about an SV.

It’s super easy and fun to drive, and a reasonable option as a starter bike. Plus it gets my pp hard so yep definitely nothing wrong with it for me

RSV4 is one of the few streetable liter bikes in my opinion. I dunno what it is, but the 660 and RSV4 are at this point where you can tuck down hard but the upright seating angle is more comfortable than any supersport I've ever been on.

Per Yammie video logic, my first bike was a Vulcan S and my current bike is a GS, I went from dork to potential “try hard”. I think certain GS riders give the bike a bad rep which is sad to me. I like the fact that it is a big behemoth that I can tour with and taken on a fire road if traffic is bad. I think between the seat position, ergos and luggage space it makes a great commuter.
