have broken God’s commandments, we all have sinned in our lives so none of us
are good. ‘’For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is
guilty of breaking all of it.’’ (James 2:10). Our carnal mind is hostile to God; it does not submit
to God's moral law and it never will (Romans 8:7). We hate the thought of God for the same reason a criminal
hates a policeman - we know we have sinned against God and are guilty of it and we don't want to be damned.
No good works will ever save you. You can't earn salvation by good works, because God will judge us for our sin.
Good News is that Jesus Christ lived a perfect, holy, sinless life and He died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
He was buried and He was raised from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever
believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.’’ (John 3:16)
We aren’t saved by our good works, but only by the grace of God through faith in Christ.

I don’t see how you could improve on this version. It’s subtle where it needs to be and powerful in a way the original lacked. Love the original too but I do prefer the heaviness to this version.

I would say that pentatonix' cover is better, but they are a group of five extremely talented vocalists so it's not really a fair comparison. Chris has some serious skill

@Luke Younts It's cool. He'd already won the Swedish version of the show by this point. The fact that Cowell "guessed" he was a singer was bullcrap as he'd have been very aware of Klaffords success by this point.
Not taking away that this was a beautiful rendition but the show made him out to be a brand new singer that hadn't done it before and it's not the case.

It's a mostly rare occasion when a covering artist does a song in such a way that the audience at large would call it "better than the original"...This was/is such a case. When I heard this rendition the first time, I went through a very bad patch in my life. I'm not out of the woods yet, but this moves me tears every time. My wife has been instructed that this song will be played at my funeral...THIS cover!

It`s actually not that rare. And it is on full display on youtube. It`s always easier to improve on something existing than to create something new. That`s especially true for writing of all kinds (music, lyrics, books, poems). And not all writers were good singers. They did the foundation and better singers build on it. Happens all the time.
The only reason this might be somewhat perceived as rare is that most people prefer the version they are used to.

A true artist doesn't need perfect pitch or magnificent ability to play an instrument. A true artist is one that pulls emotion out of every member of the audience. Mr. Klafford, you are a true artist.

I always come back to this video when I'm depressed. My husband used to have a beautiful voice and I made him sing this song to me for 20 years. Then he had a stroke.
After being in comas and tearing out his ventilators time after time, his voice his decimated.
I miss the good years.
Now, it's paralysis and a hospital bed full of raspy whispers.
Wish we could have just one day again wherein he could sing to me.

This is the day he won my heart. I had tears and goosebumps watching him sing. I will forever think he should have gotten the golden buzzer, should have been the winner!!! It broke my heart to see him leave the show. Best performance i have seen to date on AGT! We Americans love you Chris!!
