Agreed The voice acting in this movie is very annoying for example they put a joke in a tense moment of the Gorgosaur Pack hunting the Pachyrhinosaurus herd
We seriously need a big budget dinosaur movie set in the Mesozoic Era with no talking. Because of the voice overs, this is kinda like (Disneyâs) Dinosaur 2.0
Man. For what issues this movie had (and...yeah, it had them) the visuals are still genuinely gorgeous. Imagine a proper, updated WWD-style documentary with this level of animation.
Somewhere out there is an alternate timeline where Foxâs executives didnât ruin everything, and this was the movie we got. But seriously though, I really like this.
You know what the best part about the CC is? You can actually determine the charactersâ personalities for yourself based purely on the animation. I felt like Patchi and Juniper were a million times more relatable, sweet, and developed as both characters and a couple just due to the fact they didnât talk and just used body language
The fact that they spoiled the whole thing just to add personality and connection with the characters is super ironic considering the Ornithocheirus in WWD was a million times more connecting than those Pachyrinosaurus were. I still remember when the Ornithocheirus was slowed by the rain and had to rest under that rock, and it showed the face of the Ornithocheirus. I remember that because you could relate to that desperation and irritation and annoyance just by the eyes alone. Surprise, surprise, he doesn't say a word in that episode at all!
Wow, I actually just got done watching the theatrical version. The protagonists just wouldn't shut up, I was wishing I was watching this version the entire time
Where the hell is this version on Disney Plus?? This director's cut is amazing! It's subtle, majestic, and pretty intense at places. It's a testament to how sometimes all you need is some really expressive animation to convey a story. It's why I love silent films; they may not always be a hit, but when done well, silent films, or even just silent scenes, can contain some really poignant animations. You don't need fart jokes, Justin Long or John Leguizamo when the animation is this good! And again, it doesn't make sense for Disney to not use the version that represents the BBC series better! It's like the Recobbled Cut from The Thief and the Cobbler.
I actually have the whole version of it since 2020, and I canât stop watching it unlike the 2013 theatrical version which I have to stop at times when rewatching it.
Two years ago they were showing the Walking With Dinosaurs film on IMAX and while I contemplated going to watch it I had already seen the OG version and decided not to. I only found later it was the Cretaceous Cut and I was so dissappointed of missing it.
Actually it wasn't the cretaceous cut, it's a third different version of the film that was edited to be like a documentary, and narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch. It's a shame they made it IMAX exclusive.
20th century fox (the distributor) was afraid that the movie wouldn't be popular with kids, so their "fix" was to add voice overs as a last minute edit. It failed, rather horribly.
@@riamus7258see thats where they are so wrong. I watched the original walking with dinosaurs as a kid and despite the fact there was a nature documentary narrator I still loved it. I also loved the short little movies in the 3D Dinosaur Adventure computer game with no dialog. They are dinosaurs! Kids will love them regardless and thru can perfectly understand whats going on without it dumbed down. The voices made it seem like they wanted a movie aimed at three year olds.
Well said partner and Iâm with you to the end that the Cretaceous Cut is better than the actual version of Walking with Dinosaurs Movie. Great video and I hope youâll upload more in the future.
It's much better than the original but it still has some problems like the rewind scene, dinosaur names popping out for no reason, all of these scientific inserts with jokes (but with complete silence), childish jokes and the annoying bird that gets way too much screen time and shouldn't even be there. I'd love to see Walking With Dinosaurs 3D as an *actual* documentary.
I plan to get the blu ray 3d version to experience the cretaceous cut. But I never minded the voices at all, even after 8 years. This was always a childhood favourite of mine, but I'm nearly 17 and I do agree the voices were unnecessary. However I would be lying if I don't find at least some of it hilarious (such as Alex cracking up about Gorgon's tiny little arms and Patchi explaining that he had to dive in to save Juniper). I think the reason I don't mind the voices is that I am a total nerd for all things dinosaurs and prehistory whatever the occasion, so I would always research all the various different dinosaurs used in the movie. Another reason is because the animation of this movie is the BEST I've ever seen in any dinosaur movie or TV series. I'd even say the animation here is better than that of the Jurassic World movies.
This gorgosaurus is an example of how a, fairly, accurate dinosaur can still be terrifying. Itâs not shrink wrapped, itâs hands arenât pronated and it barley roars instead hissing and growling, but it was still a formidable antagonist in this film.
The names of the six gorgosaurs are: Gorgon, the leader of the pack Grey, the second largest gorgosaurus in the pack and is gorgons mate Skull, the third largest gorgosaur and is a male Spike, wrath and gnash as the kids of gorgon and grey
@@awesomeproductions7755 nothing for this year at least. I do have a certain series that I'd like to start making videos of, but I have way more projects to finish before I can get to it.
Since all everyone does when talking about this is complain how the original sucks, I wanna comment something different. I just love how the technique of CGI dinosaurs in a real life background works so well.
If this was released instead of the original version it would have easily held the best quality and graphics up until Prehistoric Planet. At least someone took their time to fix the mistakes and save this movie from it's makers.
The 2013 Walking With Dinosaurs movie had so much potential. The designs were fantastic and are still incredibly accurate 8 years later. Other than the cartoony eyes, these are the most accurate dinosaurs I've seen in Hollywood. It's a shame it was ruined with annoying voice acting and dumb humor.
This version and the Benedict Cumberbatch-narrated edit (Prehistoric Planet 3D) are what the movie should've been. It would have also been cool if Pierre de Lespinois had co-directed it, as was the original plan. That's actually how I first heard about the movie two years before it came out and I thought he was the best choice. At least his Walking with Cavemen co-director Richard Dale was the one that turned the movie into the aforementioned Prehistoric Planet 3D.
I like that these âGorgosaurusâ (to be honest these arenât even proper Gorgosaurus and more of Nanuqsaurus) mostly hiss than they do roar since, scientifically, dinosaurs couldnât roar. They didnât have proper vocal organs for complex communication. Though dinosaurs like Parasaurolophus and other such lambeosaurs circumvented these issues by evolving elaborate head crests made for communication. But dinosaurs like tyrannosaurs obviously didnât have these things and more so just hissed, snarled, rumbled, or snapped at their prey to scare them away from their target or to deter rivals from a kill, territory, or mate.
Dinosaurs did have larynxes to vocalize with; a lot of people fail to realize this, but birds actually have BOTH a syrinx and a larynx, and the most basal living birds like ratites rely on the larynx (as the syrinx hadnât evolved by the point they split off). So where did birds get their larynxes? The answer is that the larynx is basal in archosaurs (crocs have one as well). Ergo, dinosaurs had larynxes.
If Samurai Jack thought us anything about visual storytelling which this movie should always been from the first release, they should use visual storytelling to tell an engaging and exciting story just like Genndy Tartavkosy with the amazing Samurai Jack series on Cartoon Network and Adult Swim for the last season.
As much as I like the dinosaurs acting like dinosaurs, I can't help to feel like something is missing like a first person narration or subtitles. Hear me out before trash talking me. . You know films like Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron or the recent Planet of the Apes movies? With Spirit, the main character has a first person narration where he tells his experience from his own perspective, but the voice is separated from the character himself so we can see him behaving and interacting with the environment like how real animals naturally do. Then when it is time for narration to come in, the character would give us insight on his thoughts that is currently happening around him. In Planet of the Ape movies, the apes do sign language to show us that they are "speaking" to each other, but they also give us subtitles to have us know what they are saying especially if we are not educated in sign language. If one of these is done in a mature, well acted, respectful, and incorporated properly like in those two movies instead of the awful last minute and childish dialogue like we got in the final product, this movie would be improved by a lot and way more people would like this movie and this would have been a great successor to the original documentary.
Obviously. Gorgosaurus was 10 times as heavy as a single Utahraptor. Also there are tyrannosaurids smaller than Gorgosaurus such as Alioramus, Qianzhousaurus and Albertosaurus.
What bothered me other than the voices are the designs of the gorgosaurs, they are canât even blend in with the environment they live in because theyâre blue, with the pack leader being the most vibrant one, but itâs still an enjoyable film tho, maybe with or without the voices
Good Cut of all of the voices but with a flaw from what I know *They didnât cut the rewind joke and The closeups of the Dinosaurs especially the Gorgosaurus closeup*
