  • Early season fishing on the Large Stillwaters for many will revolve around Blobs and boobies. In this video I am sharing a couple of patterns that will definitely put fish in your net! The FNF Block 30 has been out for a while and when I first bought it I was not sure it would have much use. After playing with it for over a year now though this is one of the stand out patterns.
    I was in two minds whether to share it as I do still occasionally compete and its always best to have something in the back pocket. I have included the other fly in this video as I often fish these together 10' apart on a 15 - 20' leader. Best lines for these flies is the DI3 or DI5.

    You know me Lindsay..... I’m not partial to synthetic material tying. I just like the natural stuff. Having said that these do look attractive so I ‘might’ get some fritz. Keep well my friend and stay safe.

    Nice work on the video! I have missed seeing you tie. You are doing a great job young man. I like the revisions and feedback that you took into consideration on making your videos better. I really enjoyed seeing the changes since you first premiered the squirmy worm. Keep up great work and stay healthy. I look forward to seeing your next featured pattern!

    That second fly almost a albino bibio. The merger of the colours adds so much to the life and attraction effects of the pattern. Plus that is the subtle extra you add to give difference. The difference that could help induce a take from a fish that sees the same ole thing all day every day. Trout may have a brain the size of a baked bean. But they soon equate that same old orange blob with every time I see that some of my shoal disappear. So it then avoids the threat

    A great lure, loved, may try it tomorrow - if the rainbows aren't too sleepy. If (like me) new to fly tying, I found it easier to split the tube - after it's tied. Otherwise, the split tube tends to wander off the top of the hook.

    Hi Lindsay, I am also a bit OCD and like the near "perfect" look. With our fishery closed it will be a load of fly tying and gardening ….. 12 weeks Jings! Stay well Jim

    Really nice effect the way one Fritz bleeds into the other

    They look great Lindsay!!
    I've tied a few blobs and FABs but to be honest I've never tried one out on a reservoir or loch. It's not that I think they are flies from the dark side it's that I just wouldn't feel confident using them and you need confidence to catch. I'll still tie a few tho (it's an excuse to order more stuff!).
    Thanks for the upload lindsay, stay safe and healthy!

      Chris, I hate tying them to be honest. It's not really fly tying. The thing is though is I really like catching fish and these just get the job done. You see and take care pal.

    Hi lindsey, an easy way to wrap the 2 fritz together is to wrap them around each other first then wrap them around the hook. Hope that makes sense? I find it easier anyway :-p give it a try and see what you think.

    Hi Lindsay, big fan of Blobs, Fabs, Boobies, tied many 100's, yours look v good. I would suggest to anyone who uses fritz to invest in a Foam Damper Pad, [couple of quid] you can get them on Ebay. It makes tying with Fritz a doddle by allowing you to keep it moist or wet as you ty, [tyers pref] and you can see the finshed effect as soon as you have tied the fly. Keeps your mouth free of bits and who knows what as well! Also great when using Marabou. Stay safe all. Roger

    I would have thought when you cut the foam the second time i would have thought you put the cut either side of the hook before tying in.are those scissors italian embroidery scissors?

    • @lindsayiflyfish
      @lindsayiflyfish  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Anthony, If you put the foam either side it can slip down. This impedes the gape off the hook and you don't want that. You end up not getting hook ups but just hard takes. Yes the scissors are Italian Embroidery scissors, they are very good.

    Interesting fly! How would you fish it. To me, it resembles a egg of sorts. Thanks and thanks for the videos.

      @lindsayiflyfish  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Vincent, it can be fished a number of ways. On a sunk line at high speed is popular here in the UK.
