    $1700 and $1000 for these packs and that was 7 years ago??? I built two kits with both ofvthose same Blackhawk bags myself and SARC issued medical gear which included vampire bags and IV equipment. In 2024. And it didn't cost that much. No surprise that they went out of business

    Hi I've just watched both videos Brilliant kits. I'm an ex British military BATLS ( Battlefield Advanced Trauma Life Support) trained medic and I have to say these are without a doubt the most comprehensive medical kits I've seen outside professional full expedition kits and for the price they are excellent, well thought out well stocked and well organised the only problem I have is I don't know if they are available outside the U.S I'm assuming due to the weight,shipping would be Massively expensive and also there may be problems with customs with some of the medications I will be checking out their web site to order some of the kit, again, depending on shipping and things if I could I would order them both. Thanks for the excellent heads up on these Happy 4th (even if you did kick our ass lol) peace and love to you all

    What I honestly miss in these kits is basic diagnostic equipment. Without a finger pulse ox and a stethoscope it‘s hard to recognize a tension ptx, especially if not experienced in the medical field. Without a BP cuff you‘ll not know for sure how bad the shock your patient got is. Especially in such a comprehensive kit, I‘d also highly recommend adding a glucometer and oral glucose.
    All the equipment I just recommended is way less invasive in use and way less dangerous if used the wrong way than an ARS needle or sutures are.
    Suturing the wrong wound can kill.
    So as far as they tried to put together kits that work for not (or barely) medically trained preppers, they in some cases went way above the scope of practice these people would have.

    MrSnakedHD thoracostomy and thoracentesis are relatively synonymous terms. Thoracentesis is normally the term used when a physician aspirates fluid for treatment(i.e. Pleural effusion) or biopsy. Needle decompression thoracostomy(NDT) is the more common term for treatment of tension pneumothorax and can be performed anteriorly or at mid axillary where a chest tube would normally be placed. Most EMS systems prefer the anterior mid clavicular site. I agree that chest tubes are not common in the field by a medic/corpsman.
    I served for eight years as a medic in light and mechanized infantry units and have spent the past 18 years as a paramedic in a busy 911 system.

    All this is awesome and all but like training with a firearm, people need training on using these "first-aid" tools and techniques. You can do more damage trying to help then not deploying the bag correctly.
    Oh and for reference, I was Doctor #2 on episode 4 season 3 of Grey's Anatomy. Happy July 4th.

    • @MrSnakedHD
      @MrSnakedHD Před 9 lety

      nathan rubio We can see that the bag is made by people (and for people) without major knowledge in medical care.
      For instance, what will people do if there's a massive facial trauma and compromised airway ? I don't see any special tubing, needle for coniotomy or tracheotomy.
      Everything can be added and I like the concept

    • @normrubio
      @normrubio Před 9 lety +2

      Have these "people" ever done a chest decompression? Are they trained to do so? What happens when they try to decompress and hit the aorta?? Because without training, they can kill someone who may not be that bad off.
      I've seen people do CPR chest compressions to people trying to push them off.

    • @MrSnakedHD
      @MrSnakedHD Před 9 lety

      Well first, before decompressing, they need to identify the symptoms of a tension pneumotorax. A lot of guys have been decompressed without the need to do so.
      There's not even a stethoscope.
      The rule is treat as needed, especially when there's no medical facility nearby. Putting someone in a semi-fowler position may be just fine with most of the non major breathing distress.
      If you cannot evaluate the different symptoms or have the perfect knowledge of how to your gear, you better stay away of any surgical procedure.
      Even with my training and experience, there's some situation where I would not try some stuff without asking a physician.
      But still, having those is better than nothing because you have better chance to find someone that knows how to use them than finding those medical supplies.

      @normrubio Před 9 lety +2

    Seems like since you know they're out of business, you could at least put up a new intro to the video or a flyover that stays up during the video saying it's not available. I feel like the video is a good example of what should be in a kit, but had I known these weren't available, it sure wouldve saved me the time I spent searching for them. Maybe even a pinned comment to let people know.... still gave ya a thumbs up, though...

    These are really well thought out and put together kits. They are rather expensive, but quality medical items are expensive, and these kits are full of top of the line gear. I've been piecing together my med kits for years (I have friends and family in the medical fields) and I'm sure I've spent at least what they are charging for these set-ups, just a little at a time. Well worth the money, especially considering all of the gear and the time spent gathering all the items. Unfortunately that's a decent chunk of money to drop at once. Maybe if there was a way to buy individual sections for $100-200 each and then eventually the complete kit would be together. I don't know, just an idea. If I could afford them and needed a medical set-up I would buy these in a second. Thanks for reviewing them. Peace.

    My suggestion is they should sell the individual kits separately. I think people are more likely to build their own bag $100 or $200 at a time than plunk down $1800 or $1100 in one shot. For $100 a month I can get the big kit in a year and a half.

    Are the suture kits packed in a steril way? It doesn´t seems like that.

    • @TWANGnBANG
      @TWANGnBANG  Před 9 lety

      Ricardo A. Quesada Camacho These are exactly the kits you find everywhere. You must sterilize the tools before use, though they are reusable. As mentioned, each kit includes sterilization products just for this purpose.

    • @ricardoa.quesadacamacho1748
      @ricardoa.quesadacamacho1748 Před 9 lety

      TWANGnBANG So, those are the usual non sterilized kits for dissection labs in medical schools. I don't know exactly the products included but, usually, every sterilizer solution needs at least twenty to forty minutes to achieve the proper sterile level,so, just as a comment, it will rather be already sterile. Even if every sterile package, of any kind, has a expiration date. thank you very much for your fast and kind answer to sn Costarricain surgeon.

    • @robertharley4518
      @robertharley4518 Před 6 lety

      No. They are not sterile. The needle' s are, up to the expiry on the package. When SHTF or your out for a long treck, if you are suturing, then there isn't any help handy. In that situation, go for surgically clean, not sterile. Having a Pt laying in the dirt and grime is not even close to a treatment table at the far off ER. There were lots of negative posts on these kits. Yes, you need to take the training, but the whole idea of prepping is to have stuff on hand just in case someone there has the training.
      I have been a first aider with St John's Amb, Hospital Nursing Orderly, EMT, Paramedic,practical licenced Nurse, 26 year combat medic and a Physician Assistant for 14 years in a rural ER and a VFF as well.. I know a little.
      Ìf you suture, make sure the Pt needs it and is willing to want it. Don't worry about the sterile vs. Surgically clean. That's why you would make sure your Pt had follow up with healthcare professionals whom I am sure would Rx some AB's for the potential infection.
      I enjoyed your videos and am sorry you had some, colourful replies. Even at my level, I found the layout ok and had never seen the book on plants in NA which I will now look for. So for all the negative out there get your cup half full and then look for the good. If not, then I'm afraid your attitude will get mired down and life for you will never be perfect. For sure, if I stumbled across a scene and I didn't have my gear but you had these, I would gladly use the items after a very hasty equipment check and an even longer scene size up and situational awareness.

You will quickly learn why these cost so much- their prices are chosen to be less than what most people can do on their own for the same gear. Thanks for watching!
