Here are two legends in the sport. This footage was recorded in Akron, Ohio! Pat Patterson vs Bob Strampe! Fred Wolf and Nelson Burton Jr provide color commentary!
A historic show. Nelson Burton was very modest in his commentary, but showed the great insight he was later famous for. Pat Patterson was a true gentleman in response to his bad breaks and Mr. Wolf's somewhat sarcastic banter. I wonder if this was Patterson's last show on TV. Thanks for posting this!
Thank you for posting this. As always. I wonder if this was Pat Patterson's last time on television, with Championship Bowling or the Tour. He got some bad breaks, but seemed unable to sustain any kind of excellence in shot making. He took that foul following a 4 bagger with dignity and good humor. He passed away, I believe, within seven years of this event.
is this Nellies debut as a commentator? it took it him a bit but, as the hour went on,he became the voice i know and love. Something to say about everything by end of show lol
Iv'e had the privilege of shooting pool against Bob Strampe the past couple of years at a local bar that holds a tournament every Sunday. Once and awhile he tells me story's of back in the day of his bowling career. One of a up and coming little Pete'y

Bo at the mic in '65? what a find this video is.
Nelson and Chris were my favorite pair of color commentators, didn't get any better than that. Bo seemed a little shy in these early days.

Robert Strampe puts a tremendous amount of roll on the ball.

Hard to tell ... was Patterson using a polyester ball on this telecast ? If it wasn't polyester, it was some kind of mottled rubber ball .....
