    I'm also guilty of buying plants and keeping them in their pots for years. But I finally got a new allotment plot after a 2 year wait. So now my 12 roses can finally be planted out this autumn. I vote for the maple, it's beautiful. I dream of having a hydrangea hedge one day.

      You are my people! 😆 I always get backlash about buying too many plants and not planting them right away. Sometimes they just speak to you, or there’s a great sale that’s too good to pass up lol. I’ve wanted a hedge of hydrangeas somewhere for a long time, I’m happy it’s finally happening and I can’t wait for you to have yours too!
      PS I love that you had all these beautiful roses that took such good care of and finally got to plant them. I like celebrating moments like this, thank you for sharing.🤗

      Also the Styrax was my first choice, but am doing deep research on size and its root structure to make sure it won’t impact our foundation. Either way we have two to add somewhere in the garden. 🥰

    Gorgeous outcome! Your tree options for the corner of the deck are fabulous. I initially thought big container until you showed us the tree varieties. I can't make up my mind between the False Cypress or the Styrax. First response was the False Cypress but the Styrax can provide an arch!?!? What great options and a good problem to have. You could make up for the lack of red with your choice of annuals, if you don't use the Maple (which is also beautiful).

    • @InTheGardenWithClaudia
      @InTheGardenWithClaudia  Před 24 dny

      Kathy these are all valid points. I took the day to place each tree with the exception of the maple in the corner to see how it felt. They all looked great but after looking at the Styrax I’m thinking we use them
      In the side garden instead since they will have a bit more room to fill in. The False Cypress also looked stunning. I think it will be between that and the maple. 😊💚

    I would plant the maple for the red and it should do amazing in a big beautiful container. I love the other tree though. Just remember you won’t be able to see “through” the maple until it gets larger and is trimmed up. And I think the carex? Would not provide any shade or fullness you may need. Also, it’s green. I think you need the red. Wow your garden is beautiful. New sub is here. I watched the video garden tour Janey did and had to come see for myself. Love it. Tfs.

      That’s a great idea! The plan is to eventually remove the bottom boards of the deck and replace them because these are so old. We thought about either replacing it with a different wood or maybe doing concrete squares. But removing that half moon now might not be a bad idea and lay down flagstone. I think my OCD brain would enjoy that a lot more. 😆

    Hi Claudia, just found your channel through Janey. Your garden is so beautiful. Loved your cut flower video!
    To help your OCD brain, can I suggest switching the hosta pots? I think the larger one nearer the house would help with the weight of it.
    As to your tree question, I’d put the 3 pots you are planning out on the deck & then you can picture your other options a little better.

    • @InTheGardenWithClaudia
      @InTheGardenWithClaudia  Před 23 dny

      Aww Lisa you’re too sweet! I’m so happy you’re here, so many new friends from Janey. 💗 You’re so right about the hosta pots, I didn’t even think of that. The hostas on the right are bigger and may carry more weight on the opposite side, I’m going to switch them.
      Regarding the trio of pots, I did just that! The morning after I quickly staged them to see how they look and it feels like the red maple is winning. I’m excited for part two so you guys can see how it all comes together with me. 🤗

  • @helenazzopardi1713
    @helenazzopardi1713 Před 25 dny

    I vote red maple and I wonder if a container that is incorporated to the container collection that you do in the deck would be a viable option.

      Oh my gosh!!!!!!! I love this idea!! I just saw a video today on instagram where they had a rain chain that went into a big container! Hi Claudia. I vote maple for a few reasons. The deck is kinda dark and it would complement it. I feel so sorry for the maple getting crispy from the sun. You do need some red in that area. Excited to watch this come together. I met you at Bauman farm when Janey was there.

He is so so AMAZING! His knowledge is unbeatable) I think the pop of red from the Maple would be very pretty, but, I like the other with the arching habit as well. I’m with you, the maple adds the missing color, but the styrax will add the whimsy element- however we’d need to stay on top of pruning. I’m going to trial them each for a day in that space and see how it feels to us. 😊
