    Freshly sliced bloomer with salted butter (NO MARG OR MAYO) thinly sliced, freshly cooked steak with English mustard. Or freshly sliced granary bread with salted butter again, and bitter thick cut marmalade. Just like Paddington bear. In terms of sandwich fillings I weirdly have also been well into coronation chicken recently. I go through phases of really liking it, and I made my own recently which was a little less mayonnaise-heavy and a tad more spicy, and it made an excellent sandwich or toast-topping. It sounds weird but I also really like a tomato sandwich: fresh white bread, buttered, with some nice slices of beef tomato that have been allowed to come to room temperature, salt and pepper to taste and a couple of torn basil leaves if you want. I only started having them recently when trying to expand my sandwich repertoire but they're really good. I have a copy of Mrs Beeton from around 1900 which has some interesting sandwich suggestions that I'm keen to try, including her 'good for invalids' toast sandwich.

    • @cdwc
      @cdwc  Před 3 lety +1

      Those beef tomatoes sandwiches sound nice. Tomatoes always seem to taste nicer in Spain. I agree about Coronation Chicken, it is definitely one I like for a week or so then go for something different. I have also been enjoying cheese, salami with a bit of burger sauce (which is basically dill sauce). I edited that bit out of the video due to someone in a noisy car driving past.

    A really lovely walk- you are making London seem almost worth a visit! T-shirts look pretty darn cool too.
    Favourite sandwich filling currently is a lightly mayo'd tuna with sundried tomatoes & rocket on soft white bread.
    A difficult choice as I spent 6 years as a professional sandwich maker! The most popular ones that we used to sell were Chicken, Bacon & Avocado... or if the avocado's weren't ripe it was the brie, bacon & cranberry. Though ham, cheese & coleslaw was also surprisingly popular. Weirdest sandwich I was ever asked to make was a chicken with egg mayo and mustard, which just felt wrong on many levels.

    • @cdwc
      @cdwc  Před 3 lety +1

      Six years! The Chicken, Bacon and Avocado sounds good. I admit I sometimes go for ham, cheese and coleslaw as it feels like a safe choice. The brie, bacon and cranberry sounds like an excellent winter sandwich.

    B.E.S.T. ( Bacon, egg, sausage and tomato ) rules supreme in the hot sandwich world in my book whilst ham and cheese enhanced by a good chutney on crusty bread is my favourite cold sarnie. Coronation Chicken is yummy though. Nice walk too!

    • @cdwc
      @cdwc  Před 3 lety

      The B.E.S.T is the same as the all day breakfast one right? I also agree with some sort of chutney to spice up the ham and cheese. I am a big fan of Colman's mustard. Also I think grated cheese always seems much better in sandwiches as opposed to slices.
