LYRICS
Who's that peeping in my window?
I don't really know what they here for
On the corner just with the Starbucks
I was just looking for a come up
Right there used to be a crack house
Now it's an organic garden
Tell me what to do when the block gets slow
And the money get low, but the rent rise up
White folks poppin' out the blue they done torn that down
And made that to a Whole Foods
Landlords looking for a payday
Now it's run the school, that's where we used to sling yay
What you gon' do?
When they move in, move in, move in
You move on out
Where you gon' go?
When they move in, move in, move in
You move on out
What you gon' do?
When they move in, move in, move in
You move on out
Where you gon' go?
Cameras on the corner and now they feel safe
'Round more, have a field day
Damn they made at a dog park
Hoes sold pussy right there like Walmart
I used to watch with them parked cars
Now it's just white girls drinking on White Claw
What you gon' do?
Tell me what to do when the block gets slow
And the money get low, but the rent rise up
White folks coming out the blue and they torn that down
And made that to a Whole Foods
Landlords looking for a payday
Now it's run the school, that's where we used to sling yay
Rent down, when I'm 'bout a stack out dough
Eviction notice on the front door
Across the street built new condos
Talking about three G's for a two bedroom
Y'all better check my head soon
About to have a nigga out here with a loose screw
What you, what you, what you, what you
Tell me what to do when the block gets slow
And the money get low, but the rent rise up
Nowhere to go when they telling you no
When there's nowhere to go where we gon' end up?
They all looking for a payday
Now it's no sunshine, so the sky's grey
What you, what you, what you, what you
What you gon' do?
When they move in, move in, move in
You move on out
Where you gon' go?
When they move in, move in, move in
You move on out
What you gon' do?
When they move in, move in, move in
You move on out
Where you gon' go?
What you, what you, what you, what you
What you, what you, what you, what you
What you gon' do?
What you, what you, what you, what you
What you, what you, what you, what you
Who's that peeping at my window?
I don't really know what they here for
On the corner, just with the Starbucks
I was just looking for a come up
Right there used to be a crack house
Now it's an organic garden
What you, what you, what you, what you
What you gon' do?

What you gon' do?
Where you gon' go?
What you, what you, what you, what you

For those who don't understand Jen's Terrific Vacation, is a play on words alluding to the songs theme about gentrification
Jens Terrific Vacation
gen·tri·fi·ca·tion
Fucking genius man. Its so blatantly there but it takes a minute to grasp. This dude is just on another level
@royalwarlord2342 woah lil buddy, calm down😂, I've come across a multitude of people who have no idea what gentrification is. Believe it or not, this subject is not taught in school, or common knowledge for that matter
Fuxkin brilliant
@@pharaohjazz8290 whoa there little buddy i never said everyone knows what it is lol wtf you coming at me
@royalwarlord2342 A, my bad, I assumed you were being sarcastic, I'm not gone lie I be assuming people be trolling as soon as I comment, sorry about that
Those drums HIT. Kassa Overall did his thing
whoa! This is the first time I'm hearing Kassa Overall. His style is so damn cool.
how tf you get to comment before the premiere
@@tylertron He had a project with Kool A.D. called peaceful solutions which had some bops.
@@nectar526 You can comment during the waiting time before the premiere
another one to check out! thx@@illistas
What I love so much about this beat is that the drums are all over the place, but Danny's flow adds tempo to the whole thing and makes it sound catchy. The guy's truly mastered rapping at this point
WE ARE SOOOOO BACK
Barack
i played that so much as a kid
Awesome to hear Danny rapping about the pitfalls of late stage capitalism instead of glorifying consumerism like a lot of hip hop.
hes a real one!
G Unit rejected him cuz he was too real@@LanaMuckraker
@@MrJemoederopeenstokj nah dude. G unit rejected him cause they thought he looked gay. He didnt fit G units picture of being gangster
@@KilyanAustin Same thing. He didn't look unapproachable or ' tough', which is really fking gay.
@@KilyanAustinyeah that's also fucking lame
Watching this happen to the area I used to live/party in was devastating, the culture, venues, and art places shutter up in favor of overpriced bullshit and apartments that cost a paycheque and a half is something that really fucked with me, and is something I don't think I'll ever really get over after cutting my teeth on the metal/rock scene in the scene. Hearing someone accurately, and appropriately put these feelings in to words has been truly healing in a way, and I've been listening to this song nonstop all day feeling some companionship through the song. Bless you Danny, and glad you're not still planning on dying like a rockstar.
Danny continues to be able to rap over absolutely anything.
This hit me hard. It reminded me of the battle we had with my mom’s dementia. We slowly lost everything paying for her healthcare and eventually, I lost her too. After she was gone, so many times I found myself on the floor in a dark room. Best wishes Danny. Hope life is brighter sober for you.
God...
Hope you are feeling ok, I pray for you Americans to one day be treated like human beings and with dignity.
The U.S medical healthcare system is a joke.
Im really sorry for what you went through.🙏❤
@@tkcaapi2876Americans will argue that healthcare shouldn’t be a human right. We’re fucked.
InshaAllah
This beat is insane. The 15 second clip is all I need to hear.
Edit: LFG
i need to hear more 😭
its on spotify too
Crazy how the drop at 2:15 minimalizes the beat and it somehow hits HARDER. Cannot wait for this album.
2nd
Its all about contrast. It hits harder because its first time the beat calms down. Indeed, hard as fuck
sometimes less is more :)
thats the bridge my boy 💯 the more you know
0:17 тоже сильный момент
This video, as artistic as it is, has a scary truth that has misplaced thousands of people...idk what ima do when the rent go up...but it shouldn't be done alone..thank you Danny
What I love about Danny Brown is he stayed on his abstract artistry despite the negative criticism. That's the definition of a true artist.
Which negative criticism? Maybe poor sells, but Danny has always been a critics favorite, no one has better averages than him on albumoftheyear besides Kendrick. True artist though, undeniable
Yeah the only hip hop artists starting to compete on review sites are JID and Simz. @@dacro2986
@@dacro2986 id say mainstream never fully picked up on danny when they could, sales speak for themselves. danny was seen more as someone to laugh at from someone who never listened to his music. i loved how he had never changed only evolved.
What negative criticism? From who? That's cap. Why make a backhanded compliment.
@@sukhaiiiihe gets laughed at?! Damn bro, I’m glad I don’t pay attention to the mainstream….saying all that, tde wanted to sign him at some point and he was super tight with kendrick schoolboy q.

@@goodguybrian9764doesn't matter bc this shit is hard
@@goodguybrian9764ah yeah but tbf he's got peace with that, he made the album he wanted to make and that's that.
I'm glad to see his success, but even gladder to see him sober and thriving!
@@goodguybrian9764 what does this mean???
@@bestfullyyhe got into debt after making the album
Symbolism is strong, and very heart-felt. It's sad to see the way the world is right now. Very good song.
This album is gonna be interesting as hell. Nothing like either of the two singles. WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE!!! Love the cell therapy samples
When I heard that goodie mob right at the beginning I was like ohhhhh shit 🔥. I Have that Soul Food album on CD, it still bumps.
check out the second latest upload on my ch for some cell therapy
What makes this scene even more tragic is there is a multigenerational element portrayed that the woman in this video probably has lived in Detroit her whole life and has survived multiple eras and has seen all the hard times Detroit has faced to now just be uprooted and made alien in her own community.
This was an out of body experience, I’m so excited for this album (The song isn’t out yet)
Update, it was great
@@slapstick2199 understatement
Not only is this satirizing physical gentrification of communities, but also the cultural products. In other words, actually taking parts of the people being forced out. Great work, Danny. 🔥🔥🔥
Kassa Overall's drumming on this is insane!
That's what I noticed too, great track overall but the drums are absolutely amazing
The drums are like ear candy for me.
HOLY shit this was a trip 🔥
We love you Frank
FRANKP! bro you got crazy taste in music and games bf4forever
bruh you jam all that good shit
Holy shit frank never knew u were into this stuff
Damn I didnt know bro had this elite level of taste
Most people don’t even know the true meaning behind this song and that’s crazy! DANNY BROWN IS A LEGEND! Especially in DETROIT HIPHOP🫶🏻
Danny a 40 year old man whos lived through the worst era of Detroit rapping about its gentrification and how it feels unfamiliar seems... right.
I'm pretty sure being the murder capital of the world is a worse Era than people investing money in the community lmaooooo
@@jaquandrejones yeah sure but it's not what you're used too it's an unfamiliar environment from the buildings to the people. That can be jarring
@@jaquandrejonesdifferent isn’t always better but.. it’s always different. That’s my takeaway. Also it’s corporate greed fueling the theft of their identity and community.
@@jaquandrejones that's not what gentrification is. It's not "investing in the community", it's pricing local residents out of the community. This leads to worsening conditions for locals, which can cause a further increase of violence and continues to perpetuate a cycle.
@@jaquandrejones these "investments" from large corporations and rich landlords will drive up prices beyond feasible earnings for people already living there, making their lives harder than they already were. "When the money move in, you move on out" as danny says in the song.
10 years later still get chills
It's been 25 minutes
Who else is still here in 2043? just me?

I’m getting “Lost” music video vibes from this and I love it 😮
Drum breaks are 🔥
the song starting with the cell therapy sample sets the tone immediately. fantastic song, cant wait for the record danny
I knew the beat sounded familiar
Yes, loved it! Even his opening line references cell therapy also.
@@soulance8342i caught that too a couple listens in! super slick
Thank you, this was about to kill me if I couldn't find where that was from.
This sounds outstanding.
Man... Danny's music taste and lyricism is just... No one on this level.
If you haven't listened to Aesop Rock yet, you should check him out. He, Danny, and Busdriver did a track together called "Ego Death". Normally, Aesop is my favorite on most tracks, but Danny's verse is so good in that song.
A danny and andre3000 album on the same day is the definition of christmas come early
Absolute art.
dope song. I experienced this living on the east side of jax. making the community better was low key causing many of us to go more broke and losing alot.
Better jacksonville plan really messed the city up
Now a bunch of empty lots shit condos and old boarded up houses
Production is next level
those lyrics f*cking hit
Jenns Terrific Vacation = Gentrification
this man really has made himself a voice of a generation and he deserves it.
Such a good track. Making original music in 2023, props to Danny for doing himself
Enny whispering in my ear was a welcomed surprise
Danny I lOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this song gives me a panic attack in a good way
The video with this song make for an unreal combination. No one is talking about it, please do. This is art.
MAN THE BEAT HERE. Cell Therapy meets El P got me open. Danny never left YET he's BACK!
Album will be legendary
Man… This was sick. This is the most creative way I’ve heard a producer flip this Goodie Mob sample too. Also, the DRUMMMSSS
Danny entering his second prime and I'm all for it
Flippin that Goodie Mob sample!! Absolute Fire!!!🔥🔥🔥
A very vivid way to personify a perspective of the black experience.
One of the best songs I've heard from Danny, actually
my seasonal depression has been officially avoided this year, thank you Danny 🙏🔥🙏
Thank you Mr. Danny Brown
I can’t get enough of the Goodie Mob sample!!!
That’s my auntie in the music video! So happy to see her! ❤❤❤❤

Only Danny can make a song like this.
Solution... Revolution ✊🏿
I'm honestly obsessed with this song and the whole album. Danny Brown is on another level.
This song and Tantor are setting up Quaranta to be amazing!
this song is so good and the symbolism in the video really supports the theme of gentrification
Crazy video. Looks like one of Guy Maddin's films emulating the silent era. And the lyrics have a very powerful message.
WE READY!!!!
Idk how Danny can be, a rap/punk/rock artist! Amazing music.. like nothing else
Goodie Mob who's that peeking in my window vibes. Love it
Yes, this is what we need.
This is the best rap song I have heard in awhile as alot of other rap songs that have been released this year have been disappointing especially for the 50 years of Hip Hop. Danny Brown is keeping the Hip Hop vibe alive!!
from the singles it seems its gonna be an insane album
DANNY BROWNNNNNNN!!!!!
Danny rapping is a breath of fresh air every time
most normal danny brown music video
man...danny doesnt compromise his art!
The drums are so perfect. Danny is the new favorite. Love the producing
Most underrated.
THANK YOU DANNY... ONE MORE TIME FROM THE TOP!
this is gonna be SICK on live performances
DANNY BROWN IS THE GOAT
2:45 that part is so good
He’s so incredibly good
Those drums are so fire and Danny killed it
The first 3 seconds reminded me of Goodie Mobs Cell Therapy lol
Buzzing for Friday! Danny Brown is having a crazy year. Scaring the Hoes, Year Zero feature on billy woods album and now this new LP. He’s spoiling us
