From a mechanic to a shade tree mechanic , DO NOT impact tools on things like that !!!
Furthermore if you are going to use impact tools at least start the bolt by hand so you don’t have to deal with stripping bolts due to the impact tool

You just saved me a ton of money was having this issue took my car to the Stealership I mean Dealership They replaced spark plugs to no avail then charged labor. Still misfiring on 2 and 4 told me they would need the car for a few days and open a tech case with Kia for a bunch of techs to stand around and tell the tech working on my car to replace the coil pack that I had a friend do for me after ordering these Kia parts from Kia. Bought him dinner as a thank you

great video, I recently had a misfire on my Kia forte 2019 model at 41k miles (just ridiculous) not sure exactly why, but it happened... anyways this made my day because I was going to take this to Kia for warranty.... but instead doing that and waiting a century while they try to sell you on more crap just decided to spend little money to fix it. Just crazy how soon it happened with a car I barely drive. my SUV drives perfect... but this Forte has been some trouble...

I have a 2019 Kia Forte.. one day I decided to change the spark plugs cause they needed to be changed. My Kia has 130,000 miles and a month after changing the spark plugs I started to have a misfire so I changed all four coils. After changing the four coils the check engine light is still on and I'm still having misfires, rough idling, and sluggish acceleration. I just wish it wouldnt be so damn aggravating. Now a few days ago the A/C stopped blowing air even when i turn on the heat.. people told mw blower motor fuse is probably blown but i guess thats my next step.

I've had a 2013 and a 2017 forte both started having engine troubles around 100k well the 2017 one not as bad as the 2013 this time it's just this misfire with the 2017 and a p0014 and p0017 code for sensors I had to replace. Bout to replace the coilpacks n plugs next weekend n see if it fixes my misfire. Oddly though turning on the ac for some reason helps alleviate the stuttering while idle and regulates the idle rpm so it's not dropping down to 500 and the car cutting out. Long as the ac is on the car will keep running and idle around the normal 1k rpm. Cars at 103k miles. All I know is this happened at the worst time (right before the scam that is emissions testing). So I've been driving this bad boy around with outdated tags lol. So I need to fix this asap cause I damn well am not paying the hefty fine for having outdated tags if i ever actually get pulled over for tags. You mafuckers going to have to take my license before I pay the 1200 this state wants for a registration ticket.

Wish me luck the new coil I ordered that's coming in a few days fixes my problem, out of the blue my 2016 Forte started having a cylinder 1 misfire but I honestly think the car also has bad wiring since the check engine light will come on, go off, flash, then even go off on its own and scanners claim there's no code after 1 day finally saying cylinder 1 misfire. Spark plug looks fine and isn't cracked. I needed a new oil filler cap, I think some leaked out and got all over the number 1 coil and ruined it...I couldn't find much info online if oil can ruin coils but I cleaned it and its still misfiring so I guess so....really really really wish the code would show up on my scanner though, that's what perplexing me. I pray to god this thing just lives until it's paid off in 2 more years. I've limped it along for awhile with a pretty bad oil burning problem I have down to 0.5q a month instead of 1q a week it was using before by using 5w30 oil, some RESTORE here and there and Liqui Moly Motor Oil Saver. Really been one thing after another with this car, regret getting it from the bottom of my heart

I have a 2017, and about a year after owning it (~20k miles), the service guy at the dealership said there was a recall (I believe it was actually just a service bulletin) for the ignition coils. The documentation said technician should replace either spring or the entire coil. Of course, it said they opted to replace the spring which probably means they did nothing. Is it even practical to replace the spring? Anyway, long story short, around 45k miles I had to replace the first coil. Then maybe another 5k miles later another one did the same thing, so I replaced the remaining 3. I used Delphi coils since kia branded ones seem to suck. No issues since then. Warranty claim was useless as the issue was intermittent and dealership treated me like I was making it all up.

I started having a cylinder 3 misfire took it in and was informed that the TSB had already been performed for the previous owner but they said they would look at it. I gave them simple repeatable instructions to coax the issue into repeating itself there wasn't a hard code set yet they claimed no issue was found four days later it happened again. I swapped the coils and the next day it moved to the other cylinder I ended up eating the cost because I wasn't gonna lose my car for another day for them to pull the same BS.
The car drives fine but has never idled smoothly I usually run the HVAC fan on 3 all the time to keep the rpm stable around 950 otherwise it stumbles around 640 and occasionally stutters down to 590

I’ve swapped the coil packs 1 and 2 to see if the code follows, and it’s still throwing a cylinder 2 misfire code. What else could be the issue? I’ve heard these gdi engines have carbon buildup issues. Help a girl out!! 😫

    • @daringmotors
      @daringmotors  Před 2 lety +3

The next issue that you could have is the cylinder 2 injector isn’t working properly or not firing at all. You can take a long screwdriver and put it on the injector then put your ear up to the screwdriver and listen for a rhythmic click. If you aren’t hearing anything then the fuel injector is bad. That is what I would check next

It’s normal for it to idle rougher with ac on, but if it still ides rough without ac, check the other spark plugs or change them they are cheap. Usually do not get an engine code for just spark plug but will get one for bad coil pack. If that doesn’t fix it, could be fuel filter or something else

My car is at 57,000 miles and I’m assuming it’s never had the coils or spark plugs changed. Pulled them - P0001-0004 all 4 cylinders misfiring! Took it to the dealer they cleared the codes and said nothing is wrong. As soon as I left the dealer cel came back on. They then said it was my injectors due to bad fuel ( I only use 93 and this has been constant for a year ) get the car back still misfiring. Took it to another dealer and they won't do anything bc the cel is back to being intermittent, they say they need a permanent code to warrant a replacement. I'm so sick of ts. I told them screw it ill buy the coils and do it myself. $900! Absolutely insane. Idek what to do man. I'm about to lose my mind tho this is absolutely ridiculous.

Dealer finally looked into the issue after dealing with this almost a year ( they kept sending me away bc the cel was only intermittent ) and they found out that 3 of the cylinders had lost compression due to scoring and checking on the cylinder walls. They're saying it was due to carbon build up which is insane at 15k miles... luckily I have a warranty still so it's been there for about a month and they're replacing the engine. It sucks tho bc they gave me a loaner but I'm having to pay $35 a day to use it, they've had the car about 5 weeks or so and saying another 3+ till its finished... really sucks bc of all the time and money I've wasted when the whole time the engine was essentially blown ( bought this way cpo ) and now they're charging me to use a loaner bc the cpo car they sold me was shot from the beginning 🙄 a couple years ago I saw a Forte5 SX that had this same exact issue too and it seems pretty common with Hyundai GDIs so that's definitely what I'd check, do a compression test

I had smelled gas and there was car shake and misfire/engine light. Happened twice. I let it sit 5 sec and tried again - it worked. Never happened again. I assume I didn't tighten gas cap correctly or something. KIA Forte 2018

Plugs don’t cost too much to just replace them.

New cars and trucks suck plain and simple not built to last and the parts fail before they even reach a warranty period pretty crazy how people actually like the plastic pos vehicles out now days.

So i was told that a misfire on cylinder 3 is a misfire based on the firing order of cylinder. The firing order is 1 3 4 2 so cylinder three would technically be 4 if you understand that. I just want to double check if thats correct

    • @daringmotors

That’s is not correct at all the misfire is based on the physical cylinder number not firing order
