There are VERY FEW singers who can effectively cover SADE's songs....and I think the sista did an EXCELLENT job.
So true. They both have husky voices. Sexy!
There aren’t very many vocalists that can do justice to Sade music! Kandace is an exception!!! Well done, from a jazz enthusiast.
Spot on my friend, she nails it.
Not to take nothing from Sade, one of my favorite vocalist, this womans voice is so effortless and covers every inch of the sky like a blanket!
My first thought was Sade'.
just smdh...because *why* would you need to compare them? to be divisive like that? to mention Sade at all? why do you believe (per your comment) that they cannot coexist, both amazing in their own, individual way(s), without at least *mentally* pitting one's singing against the other's singing?? what a weird way to give, what i assume (maybe wrongly?), was meant to be a compliment??
but you need to qualify Kandace's musical gifts by making sure that *you* and/or potentially, at least thousands of people *who do not even know you,* would somehow see your appreciation of Kandace as a *slight aganist* Sade?? Kandace, with her amazing talent, she doesn't stand out on her own enough without having to be compared to another in a comment? and even *if* she, herself, has mentioned Sade being an influence and/or someone whose music she loves, why can you not just *simply* like her vocal stylings?? CZcams is just so *absurdly RIFE* with 1 person vs. another person's talent, etc., all over this platform.🙄
@@DiandraStarShine exactly Thank you I very much agree with you Period
geometrical gold I thought of Sade the second I read the title of the song, this is a Sade song right? So why can’t Sade’s name be mentioned?? The original comment says Sade is one of their favorite singer/vocalists...no harm to no ones comment but I like this version of Sade’s song that Kandace has complimented quite well.
Willow B
I personally didn’t understand why Sade was mentioned at all. It didn’t connect with the rest of the message.
Until your comment. You see, I reacted out of ignorance; I didn’t have the information/knowledge that this is a remake of a Sade song. I just searched for it to confirm.
Division is the wave, and has become draining and harmful, so I believe that’s where the other comments are coming from.
Anyhow, I’ve now removed my initial question. Though it was respectfully posed, it is now void with my new understanding.
Thanks for the info, checks and balances are key for a god society.☯️⚖️☮️
At time of writing "WAP" by Cardi B is the Billboard number 1. How can that crap be a chart topper when we have someone as sublime and as talented as Kandice Springs performing this wonderful song?
The perfectly executed cover for a song of this degree, leaves you assuming that it's an original piece. Kandace did exactly that!
Achingly sorrowful and beautiful at the same time...
This song reminds me of how I use to see my mother do things for us to survive.
This reminds me of myself
First two lyrics and I'm clicking the like button. Her voice is like dark chocolate....Pure Silk
Jenelle Griles Yeesss
She got style!
Perfect rendition of a Sade classic. Kandice is truly gifted to express her version. Please support her music.A beautiful pearl of a woman.
Love Love Love it!
Din't now her senc now 😮
I am ssooo NOT mad at her for this rendition. It is not often that a remake of a classic can stand up to or surpass the original! Kandace gives this song just as much emotion as Sade Adu... But with a Billie Holiday "Strange Fruit" twist. Raw. Effortless. Smooth. Just as chilling as the first time I heard it from Sade Adu. 💜
What a hidden Gem of the Jazz World
Rarely do Sade covers speak to me like this one. Really beautiful.
🎶👍
I second that.
Amazing song and performance. This made me cry a bit. Remembering my late mother who works in the farm and all sorts of hard labor to help our family survive. It’s her death anniversary this Feb. 13. Thank you for your music beautiful lady. Let’s love our mother.
They called Mel Torme the Velvet Fog because of his smooth vocal style. I'd call Kandace The Velvet Glove. 🧡
I treat Sade tracks like my hair-DONT TOUCH IT lol- but you ladies did such a breathtaking version of this. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You ladies are very talented
I fall for such a masterful voice ... I love jazz. Greetings to all from Peru
Totally lovely , wonderful and captivating, Kandace renditions of this Sade's classic , as well as the innovative 'n incredible version of "I Put a Spell on You" ... Bless your heart ❤ 💙 gorgeous and talented new Queen of Jazz. Best regards and greetings from Chachapoyas , Peru 🇵🇪 !!!
Such depth of expression. Please stay the same always. No compromises.
Her voice is smooth as butter. Sade is smiling as she hears her song. Love both versions. My ears are so happy at this moment. This video reminds me of the movie "Mo Betta Blues" with Denzel Washington and Wesley Snipes.
I’ve never heard anyone cover this song omg i love
It was covered by India Arie years ago but with a different feel. It's just a very powerful song. She has a beautiful job with it.
@@Calicaramel You forgot to mention Dobet Gnahore's feature on that cover. They both elevate Pearls to an etheral realm, a percussive prayer.
I like Kandace's jazzy version as well. The way she blues the notes is effortless.
Angélique Kidjo has a cover of this song too.
@@mahmutioc you are right. I forgot about that cover and it's beautiful too.
@@VizionHeiry I haven't heard that cover yet. I'm going to look that up for sure. Thanks.
She covered this song effortless, I love it ❤️ 🎶 🎵 🎼
I've been a singer for the past 60 years now and I fell in love with your work the moment it hit my ears. I wrote a song, but never found the right voice to sing it until you. Please, find me so I can give it to you.
I love Sade, Pearls was made for Kandace Springs voice. Her voice is so soothing, soulful, harmonious and simply pleasing to the ear.
It's almost criminal for such a voice and a talent to be wrapped in one sooo beautiful. Continue to do you Queen! Always a fan!
Kandace with her amazing voice, phenomenal talent, and hopefully I don’t sound a bit impertinent, that hair of hers, OMG, marvellous.
Oh my, oh my, oh my...this remake of what was perhaps Sade's most poignant song is truly beautifully done, and absolutely MESMERIZING! The incredibly gifted Kandace Springs just might be one of the most underrated musical artists ever.
Just discovered this young talent. While she has her own voice, I hear a bit of Phyllis Hyman in her. And I loved PH. Kandace is simply amazing.
Didn't think I'd ever hear a cover of this gem that would be this euphoric. I love it
Sheesh. The vocals, lyrics and instruments wrap round you like a warm blanket
Deserves millions of likes.
It take guts to cover Pearls.
And she nails it.
My cat accidentally launched Amazon music and this song played ! That goodness for my cats 💕🐈
She got this quality to make a song her own…. GREAT!
Standing Ovation 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Sade approves!
Usually covers of Sade are much lower in quality, but this one is successful version, as to me. Congratulations!
Stas Pro

That bass is seductive
Daaayumm , this was amazing from start to finish wooow . Just woooooow 👏🏼❤️
Beautiful voice from a beautiful soul.

'A beautiful woman. Talented artist. And she seems to demonstrate sensitivity to what is good, in life and in music. Let's move on then.'

Simple beautiful....cant wait to hear this one live in concert!
I just ran across this young lady, love her music,!!
What a story in such a soulful song
Sade and Roberta Flack type singer. Kandice will bring back the Jazz Club Singer era .................Cigar's, suits, bourbon, Always tasteful from this beautiful woman.
Heard it for the 1st time on Sirius XM Watercolors this morning - utterly fabulous.
This is not music, this is ART!
The sparse, bass-heavy arrangement really features her vocals, which are effortless and incredibly smooth.
what a absokutely amazing and soothing voice my brother introduce this to me love her
Utter Brilliance. Full Stop!! She blows this one out of the water. I love you Sade Adu ... but this! 💖💖💯💖💖
Wow! I saw this pop up and was like I don't remember this song from "Indigo" and played the video and see it's from a new album which I can't wait to get. This is silky smooth and delightful. 😊👏👏👏👍
You need to get her 1st Album... Its amazing... Very much like this song. It is a classic that you'll love.
@@fastguitars4380 I agree. I do have both Soul Eyes and Indigo. Novocain Heart is my ringtone. 👍
My Lawd!! Everything in me wants to cry! My stomach cramps feeling the pain. Thank you!!
Uhhhhhhhh Just wow! Incredible twist on a classic...I'am DEFINATELY a new fan!
Ohhhh.....yes....!
One word describes all aspects of this performance...gorgeous.
Majestic!
What a great version and tribute to Sade. She’s my favorite vocalist.
Lovely rendition, Kandace! ❤️
Great!!!!!!
Absolutely beautiful ❤️🎶
I love this track because it tells of a woman who's been through hell but it gives her beauty an edge. She is a woman who can wear her pain like the grandest of diamonds around neck even though it hurts like brand new shoes. ( Big props to Avishai Cohen )
Ms. Springs, this is beautiful, special art. I just saw your new album on Apple Music and your song selection is so exciting, I am so looking forward to hearing how you and your band paint them, can't wait. I will be out of town on business for your upcoming gig at Jazz Alley in Seattle and I am musically heartbroken. You are a special artist and I will hear you live someday God Willing. Thanks for your art!!
OMG, I just found this and I can't put it down. It's like she is picking up where Sade left off. Incredible Voice and Talent. Now I have to find everything she has.
Love Kandace Springs, saw her here in Pittsburgh and was about 20ft away. She was exceptional.
I Literally played "pearls looking for Kandace, but saw Sade had a song same title so I listened. That is when it hit me....that it' s the same song!!!! Two beautiful voices❤❤

Oh my God!!!!
I was getting ready to write that stylings are a little bit similar to that of Sade's. Had no idea that this is a cover. PS I know all of the locations in the video. I live in that area. She has a beautiful voice!!
I’m in love with this woman!
Holy Hell. Perfect.
Beautiful as always ❤
This is pure magic of a cover and an amazing band !
