  • After living with the stock seat on my CRF450l for long enough we picked up a Seat Concepts Comfort Tall seat and a normal comfort seat. We debated getting the Comfort XL but decided not to. Here we'll explain why we're glad we didn't.

    Seat concepts seats are great. I have a standard height on my WR250R. It is the single best modification I’ve made to the bike. Their customer service is also outstanding. I had a minor issue with my seat, and they fixed it without question. Turn around time was 8 days. I would recommend their seats to anyone. Nice review!

    @ShaneZettelmier Před rokem

    I’m glad you made this video. I look at their website and I have no idea what to get either I kind of like the idea of the lower seat but not enough to trade Comfort for it. I drove an 85XL 600 and I love those big fat cushy seats, I get it high-performance motor crossers wanna thin little hard seat understanding most of the time but the truth is I wrote it most of the time on the street and dirt roads and gravel roads and I didn’t do a ton of hard-core motocross and as well for my writing style I want comfort. I get the advantage of it but that’s a very small portion of my riding and I’m spending most of the time sitting down, on the XL 600 I can go ride for three or four hours and other than the XR 650 L or one of the big adventure bikes there all ridiculously uncomfortable. I totally get it if you’re riding motocross but it’s not a motocross race bike it’s a dual sport. It should be comfortable do decent off-road decent on the road and be just a good all-around bike in my opinion. I know a lot of people disagree and that’s cool people should definitely get what they want but the market is left out that comfort option except for the XR 650 L, but I’m still torn. I like simple air cooled thumpers that are incredibly easy to work on and take very little maintenance but you can’t deny the performance advantages in these newer bikes either but I’d like to meet somewhere in the middle. In concept 450 L with a very comfortable seat would be kind of my dream bike but I’ve got some other problems with it, there seems to be a problem with running cold especially in the throttle with it killing the bike or having a little hesitation and it’s an electronics problem which from looking around is going to be about 3030 $500 to replace the computer which is really the only way to fix it. I think Honda should fix that for free because I don’t wanna pay $11,000 for a bike and then have to throw another 3000 in it to just make it work decent, But it’s not that bad so probably just live with it but again it’s an $11,000 bike it should be pretty flawless for what it is, but seat concepts saves a ton of these bikes because the DRZK Alex, all of them are very uncomfortable. Yamaha went for the straight up dirtbike with a tail light and turn approach and it’s very cool but I don’t want one and the whole dual sport community or not hard-core off rotors and the manufactures keep shoving motocross bikes with turn signals on us. But people love the Kahler 650 the XR 650 LTW 200 and the Omaha XT 250 and even the DR 650 and part of it is because they’re just very simple very easy and they’re actually a dual purpose motorcycle they’re comfortable easy to ride simple to maintain and they can get you there off road without being a race bike. I think the manufacturer should have both. Bring back a 1985 Honda XL 350 with an electric starter and a rear disc some decent forks and that’s what almost every non-motocross and non-adventure bike rider once in a dual sport. I like some of the 250s but I’m a big guy and it just feels like riding a toy, the old XL 350 the Yamaha XT 350 and even the DR 350 had just enough power to make it work but still be a very easy ride simple multipurpose bike you could ride it on the motocross track and have fun but you definitely weren’t going to win but they were fairly comfortable and you could ride them around town all day as well or do a short adventure run and to do a two or three hour ride was fine. I think seat concepts sells as many of these bikes as manufacturers because pretty much everybody I talk to you either has one or once one because the seats on the stock bikes all pretty much suck and that’s kind of sad, it’s not rocket science and the manufacturers could fix this problem.
    But I’m glad you did this video, I get confused also and anytime I look at reviews everybody loves what is ever when they’ve got which is the problem with most reviews so it’s not really telling me much. This gave me some good insight.

    Really excellent video. Thank you. The SC website is pretty confusing with the various options they offer. At 6’1 1/2”, 185 lbs, I’ve considered the tall seat to get me more forward on my CRF300L and improve my body position standing. My riding is not that technical or aggressive - I’m an old guy - but 80/20 with 80 offroad. I stand alot. I’d appreciate any suggestions or recommendations. Thanks again.

    Hi, I opt'ed for a black & red Comfort Low, just to give me a less to reach the ground, and it will get better as the seat "settle's in"...I'm from Australia, and no one had any Seat Concepts in stock, and where pretty expensive, so I went direct, and ordered a seat, and they mentioned that there would be some delays due to Covid, and I think it took approx 6 - 8 weeks, and it ended up costing just over AU$600 incl shipping, which is cheaper than if I had of been able to source it locally. Well worth it, for the comfort & the different "look" it give the CRF450LX.

    • @DadsDomain
      @DadsDomain  Před 3 lety

      I normally use the deltran brands but for this bike I don’t leave them on a tender. Lithium is actually happiest stored not at a full charge. The only draw at a rest is the clock so I just start it every few weeks. I also have an RC charger with a life battery mode to match these so I can charge it and or charge/drain it to a storage mode (60%) at anytime so I am set. But if I bought one it would be a battery tender from deltran with a lithium mode
