Also it’s healthy for him to take breaks cuz if he’s not healthy mentally, the channel in the long run will never be healthy at all. Even then, he’s channel is as healthy as it can be. It’s almost guaranteed that he gets hundred thousands to millions of views every video and he doesn’t even necessarily need the yt algorithm to help him (tbh that’s kinda been like that for a while). As a member of the samurai, you’re 100% correct about all of this. Social media spaces dedicated to Cory are literally INFESTED with people whining about him taking breaks and even demanding that he returns. It’s so ridiculous and dehumanizing.

That’s the issue with parasocial relationships. A lot of these feel like they know Cory personally and in turn feel as if he owes us content. Which isn’t true, he himself said he could quit whenever he wants because he has enough money, but keeps doing it because he enjoys making videos. He’s a normal dude and should be able to take a break whenever and for however long he needs to. People get way too attached to strangers online

I've been a fan of Cory's channel for about 5 or 6 years at this point, and I never knew about this side of the fan base. I knew about people wanting him to return to CZcams, but never at this level. Some people never understand boundaries.

At least a lot of the newgen fans are. I've been a fan of Cory for YEARS, and he's a big reason why I'm starting up content on a game I really like because of some of his things he said. Like the "Are you gonna be making money off TikTok? If not, you don't need to be there." This kinda got me like doing research and finding a passion, and he's a HUGE reason, but I don't wanna be a copycat.
A lot of older fans you'll meet (I'd say from mid 2020 and back) are probably trolls that mess with the newer fans or just kind of see he takes a break and just let him be. Personally, I like to let him chill because I know it takes a DAMN lot of effort for the videos. Just wish the fanbase could go back to what it was, you know?

He handles filming, editing, merch, the brand, everything by himself pretty much. I do videos on another channel and it gets exhausting. You touched on so many great points. If I was at his level of fame, I’d definitely take enough breaks to make sure I could make great videos, no matter how long it takes.

I think the big problem with Cory’s community is that they don’t understand that making videos like one hour long videos or streams can be very stressful and draining for that person. of course they want to make the content but they’re humans just like us and just like normal people contact creators like CoryxKenshin need breaks. At the end of the day if you truly support Cory and what he does youll respect when he goes away for a break. it doesn’t matter if it’s one month or even a year it’s his choice to go on a break because he at the end of the day needs it
I’ve been a fan of him since 2016 and he’s taken multiple breaks since then and it’s never bothered me. It’s important to maintain healthy mental and if these “diehard fans” genuinely cared about Cory, they wouldn’t be bothered by these breaks because it’s all for the best and to help better himself and his mental health.

I don't get why people think that they DESERVE an answer from Cory. If he decided to quit, he can do it. He reached his initial goal but decided to keep going because he wasn't here for it. I understand Cory wanting to take a breaks. He deserves time to himself. Content creators aren’t mindless machines (some of them are, but not all of them), they’re people who also deal with the struggles of every day life.
For me personally, I don’t want to leave just yet, because I’ve been on CZcams for years, and I’m close to 100k subscribers. I’d like to reach that milestone, so I can feel like I’ve accomplished something, and I’ve made it this far, I don’t want to stop now. I try my best, but sometimes I feel like no matter what I post, it doesn’t get the attention, despite the channel having 60.9K subs.
Even with my normal life, whenever I’m at work or college, I would have CZcams on my mind.
Overall, despite everything, I don’t want to just leave without finishing what I started, nor do I want to quit when I’m close to Reaching 100k.

i remember about 7-8 years ago when i was just starting out, i remember he had a few thousand subscribers, came to my channel community tab (when the community tab was where people could talk and post and not just where you could post updates and polls) he asked if i would check out his channel and his twtich and he was just starting out, i did, been a fan since (one of the OGs), sucks he doesnt upload as much as he did a few years ago,miss the content, but we are only human and we all need breaks, the fans who beg for him to make videos is understandable cause they want more content, but when it goes as far as what it has gone is parasocial and needs to stop, hopefully one day he will come back full time and we get content, but until that day comes i have other people i can watch, love the video btw great job!

i'm sooo glad someone's finally talking about these content farms. every once in awhile i look up cory to see if he posted, and EVERY SINGLE TIME without fail there's a video from 1 day ago, 8 hours ago, etc. i've always found it nice when the community makes lighthearted jokes when he's on break, but people take it way too far... he really is just a person who gets exhausted like everyone else. with so many youtubers retiring, it'd be so sad if he felt pushed to do that with all the pressure.

I'm new to your channel, but I think you did great. The video's well-made, concise, to the point, and really does shed some light on his fanbase that we - myself included - haven't really seen before. I personally don't watch Cory as much, but I do love his content. That, and I don't usually hang on every moment waiting for a favorite CZcamsr's return. I have a lot more patience than that. And I hope the other fans of Cory soon learn to have that same patience, too.

I feel like the biggest issue is communication. He doesn't need to constantly update us. By no means is he obligated to update but even just a little "Hey, I'm alive" that's it. Cory has been doing yt for over a decade. He doesn't know how to communicate with his fans and that's a big issue for us. Communication is the bare *MINIMUM.* Pushing aside all of his weird fans, everyone else has been nothing but loving and supportive and before anyone comes at me I need you to really listen to me when I say this, he acts as if the fans who aren't weird are out of line for simply wondering if he's okay because we care about him. I just think he needs to learn how to communicate correctly because we are a little tired of everything overall. That doesn't mean we won't support and love him just as much but *something* needs to change.

Going off the grid is normal for youtubers who want to enjoy their lives outside of CZcams without all the baggage that comes with. I never understood that because he always explains everything when he comes back. He communicates everything all in one go so it's easier to digest for most people. The harassment for him not uploading isn't acceptable at all, doesn't matter.

Parasocial relationships is a heck of a drug
I've been a fan of Cory since 2018, and I notice how bad his fanbase is. No matter how many times he tries to tell them not to be toxic or that the Samurai should not be a toxic community, they don't listen. And to be honest, it's the newer fans too. Back then when I first got into his stuff, it wasn't that bad. But now it's just people comparing Cory to others or people saying Cory is better than everyone (which he explicitly states he doesn’t like). Or even people just hating on others for not liking Cory's content. That's not how we uses to be, and that's not how Cory wants us to be. These people need to chill.

I remembered watching cory for the first time back in 2014, watching one of his geometry dash videos. A school friend, whos mother is my sitter (or was my sitter), watches his geometry dash videos too. In fact, he had the get y ankles broke apron too. He was the reason on why I had to watch Cory again. Seeing this man take numerous breaks was normal because everyone needs to take a break at some point. Cory's life is like ours, we are all the same person. We usually like taking breaks because we've taken our time on something. Me joining and uniting with the community is one thing, but the community, just glazing on him, waiting for his return is another. Cory has talked to us numerous times about our behavior and we need to change. Have some patience, Cory's just living his best life and we are too, but you dont have to go all out on the dude. Just leave him be.
Every CZcamsr takes breaks regularly…so I don’t know why when he takes breaks they get impatient and milk his name….that behavior is disgusting for humanity

THANK YOU for coming out and talking about this stuff. I don’t get how people can’t understand that Cory’s life doesn’t revolve purely around youtube. Yeah, he is a big presence on the platform, but he has a real life, a family, and personal issues he has to deal with outside of the internet.
I am a relatively new fan that discovered Cory’s content while he was two months into his most recent break. I began frequently watching his older videos until I had watched most of them. When I grew tired of rewatching his old content, though, I did something that some fans clearly don’t know how to do - I found other things to entertain myself! I watched Markiplier, Matpat, and got into new fandoms and tv shows. I still watch Cory’s videos, but I don’t rely on them solely for entertainment. I learned that Cory taking breaks wasn’t unusual, so I decided to just sit back and find other things to occupy myself until he might come back.
Looking through the comments of some of his last videos, I saw a lot of comments that joked about him taking breaks. I’ve seen short and funny videos about that stuff too. And those jokes are funny as long as they are lighthearted, and most of them were. A lot of comments were simply reassurances to Cory, telling him to take all the time he needed. And that was wholesome, kind, and thoughtful. But then I scrolled down, looked at some of the less liked comments, and there weren’t any jokes or reassurances - there were literal demands for Cory to come back. That’s something I really didn’t get. Talking about the fact that he’s on a break is fine - it’s not some taboo subject everyone will hate you for because it’s really not that serious. But people are actually taking it so seriously that they are basically telling Cory to drop everything for their short-term entertainment. It’s sickening.
I love Cory’s videos. I love the positivity and kindness and fun that he embodies. I love the honesty he always shows. And part of his fandom embodies that same patience and respect. It’s the other part that I don’t get - because how could you be so blatantly ignorant when your whole life seems to revolve around one of the most considerate guys on the internet?
If you’re a fan in the better half of the fandom, love and respect to you. If you’re a fan in the other half? Well, maybe you should take a page out of Cory’s book and take a break from youtube.😊

The fan base is annoying. I've been following cory since 2016 and I'll be honest, when he took his first break which was 9 months, I did get a bit eh, yk? But after a while I stopped caring. He's been telling us he had family issues and wanted to spend time with them in general so I understood. He's a guy with a life Afterall, yes, he provides entraining videos but no need to harass him or say he should do something. Just let the man live.

Bro, like I unconsciously forgot about Coreyxkenshin because of how long he has been away until I searched if his coming back. Tbh, he's still my favorite Ytuber out of all I watch daily and I will always wait for him to upload another return video and few others. It doesn't really matter to me if he takes another break unless he forgot that he built an family of over millions of people that would jump to any video he uploads. i remember being 30 mins late for one video and it already had like over 10 million views. What i like is when he does upload its always a mood changer and it makes me really happy. Corey just got that personality that all of us wants as a friend daily.

Being a CoryxKenshin fan has made me me realize that CZcamsrs are human beings, they have lives outside of recording videos, they have families, responsibilities, spouses, some of them are married, some of them have kids, I don’t understand how people don’t understand this concept.
