    I thought the customers cables are suppose to be label so the technician knows which cable goes to the customer that is having problems? MMM I guess different company's have different procedures. Great Instructional video thought I like that tester too! :) Cool tech

    @Sparky Channel. Thanks Bill for making this troubleshooting video. Question. Do you prefer this Ideal VDV tester or the Klein Scout Pro 3? Just got the Scout Pro 3 based on your review. Like that it has 4 coax and RJ45 test channels and a TDR function for locating breaks or cable lengths.
    Hope you and your family stay safe and well.

    • @SparkyChannel
      @SparkyChannel  Před 4 lety +1

      I really like the TDR function for locating breaks and cable lengths. That's an exceptional feature. The IDEAL is very professional model so you can't go wrong with either. Thanks!

    Couldn't you have just measured the resistance on each cable back at the splitter from center conductor to the shield? The unused (open) cable would have read much differently than the connected cables.

  • @shawnsworld3

    It should be grounded to a ground block

    So when you say the cable going to the bedroom is dead, (the one you checked with the ideal tester) is it not being used? or is that line going to be removed, just curious keep up the great videos.

      I just marked it as unused and left it there. Perhaps it will be needed in the future.

    I noticed you're using a wrench to loosen the cables, why not the Ideal coax screwdriver ?
    (Also, I made that video of the magnetic 11in1. Mine works perfectly. I'll upload it today.)

    • @eosjoe565
      @eosjoe565 Před 4 lety +1

      Wrenches are cheap and everyone has wrenches. Most cable techs I've watched use wrenches (as have I). I've ran into situations where the person before me tightened the connectors so tight it was tough to crack them loose even with small wrenches. :-)
