You guys are awesome. I've been meaning to buy one of these for a while now. Totally getting one
Hey, dear Brian!
No need to say, that Your vids are PERFECT and most entertaining at the same time 👍🏻, -thanks a lot.
As to the lack of throttle-cut possibility when using relatively "primitive" transmitters like the Spectrum-MLPs:
Me, i realise a kind of throttle-cut by simply and unprofessonaly !! winding a rubberband around the stick / over the transmitters back / and the antenna.
Then, of course , one must CONSTANTLY push the stick forward during flight, BUT releasing it guarantees an IMMEDIATE motor-shutdown - , AS QUICK !!, as no one (not even You) can ever realise via a switch.
(This , my! disgusting method helped me in a lot of times to prevent damaging the propeller or it's under- dimensioned shaft.)
Best greetings from Austria !
I've thought about that, but never taken action on it. If memory serves me, didn't "Doc" do that in "Back to the Future" with one of his models??? (dang it - now I'll have to re-watch 3 movies to figure this out - LOL LOL LOL)
Thanks for being here, and for the kind words & glad you're enjoying the content!
... maybe , a producer prefers some minor weak-points in his ( generally perfect !) products, because THAT generates further income by the way of spareparts... 😂
..... as an "entrepreneur" I would do it just like that .... , or eventually NOT !? ( ... depends on how much beer i have already had.) 🤣
Dear Brian ,
I never expected, that You would ever answer to my probably silly writings, but You DID (- , which pleases me alot !)
I always greatly enjoy, when i am quasi together with You and Your lovely "Camera Crew" in Your kitchen !! ... , even if THIS Brian -or his cat- just injures a Vapor . 🤣🤣🤣
@@BrianPhillipsRC:
You probably get SO MANY silly "inputs"/ questions- like mine, just before- that even only answering all that "shit" must be a fulltime-job for You, i believe !
Poor Brian.... 😜
Great video my friend. Looks like perfect fun. Oh yeah. Big salute from Slovenia, Pilot Robert
Thanks! Hows the hand been? Glad to see you guys got hooked up with Horizon - They really are a great group of people to deal with.
Hobbyking was wanting to have us do some reviews, but I was a bit hesitant. I've enjoyed some of their stuff, but it's so hit or miss....
@@BrianPhillipsRC Nerves in my hand are dead. Iam trying to do my best with what I have. And like you said HorizonHobby does have great products. You dont have to worry how you will film the video. As for HobbyKing its really hard for the last year. They put out planes that are hard to fly good and always with something that needs to be fixed. I still love HobbyKing but its hard to film good. But at the end its all about having fun in this amazing hobby. Keep up the good work Brian and big salute from Slovenia.
Hi Brian and camera crew ! I have that exact night vapor and just love it. I also have two old ones. They still fly beautifully. I go to my hobby shop to buy extra props and prop shafts . I always have on hand extra motor mounts in case I need them, and couple extra motors. I know it’s overkill but there’s nothing like having parts ready to go when you need them. I do outside flying a lot, because I do not have enough room in the house .Great job flying!
Best purchase ever! No need to wait for the weather to clear up, I can even take off of thick carpet and every single part is available online if ANYTHING breaks!
Couldn't agree more! So much fun, and like you said, great for bad weather!!!
Just got my night vapor today! And needless to say i am having a blast with it! only hiccup i had was plugging in the battery too hard and bending on of the prongs in the connector. Thanks for your help Brian!
Enjoy it - Keep the cats away from it!!! They will murder it while you're sleeping if you're not careful!!!!!!! My cats killed one of our two ;( I was PISSSSSSSSSSED, so I put them out for like 24 hours, and I think they liked it - LOL
Got one yesterday! probably one of my most unique and favourite models! Awesome vid Brian!
It is a blast to fly, until you cat eats it LOL ;) We HAD two of them - LOL!!!!
Nice to see the other pilot in the house. I'm gonna start teaching my G son to fly this summer. Cool plane for after dark barnstorming the back yard.
Camera crew we love you!! Haha
Absolutely awesome I would love that if I had the room🏴
Having room is helpful I flew one downstairs the other day, and it was more challenging.
Ordered this from Horizon and it's on the Fed Ex truck today for delivery. Where's the truck, where's the truck, where's the truck???LOL. Nice flying. I think you can nail that cat condo landing.
AWESOME! Enjoy - it's a BLAST! One of the BEST flying indoor planes we've ever had, and we've had quite a few!
Hi . Very good cameraman because she's not sick to her stomach when she's making a carousel video.
Brian , I have this plane and love it . I fly outside all the time as I have no room in my house . I have 3 of the old Parkzone vapors and I needed some parts but they said they were discontinued on a lot of the parts. You can get the parts from Horizon and E- flite that will fit the old vapors , and now these new vapors. They are under a different parts code ,not the PKZ numbers. I’m going to order couple extra motors and props shafts , and props . It’s always good to have them on hand . I’m so glad they re-issued this plane. I just want everybody to know these parts are interchangeable even though park zone may not carry them just order from Horizon, E- flite . P. S. Camera crew , you are so patient filming all Brian’s videos . It’s like pulling teeth to even get my wife to do a 2 minute video . She has a short attention span . Oh well . Stay healthy and safe guys !
Thanks Jim for the heads up. Many of the planes that get discontinued, are getting discontinued due to a component that becomes unavailable to Horizon, I'm finding, and when they get it back, they're re-release some.
There's one more trick I've used too, call up Hobbytown and they'll do a nation wide search for you ;) This doesn't help our channel at all, but when you NEED a part, I want to help if I can ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thank you very much Brian . Yes ,I’m getting vert confused on what’s going on . I just ordered tonight three extra props and two motors for the UMX Vapor that I have and I know they’ll fit my other old night vapors. I ordered two extra motors, three props, and motor mount because you never now. I just like to have them on hand. Thank you for your great videos. They are not only great, but very entertaining and I really love them. 👍
pretty sweet guys. its seems more durable than it looks. nice video
It is! That film is stronger that I gave it credit for, especially after the vicious cat attack!!!
Enjoy your rc reviews man. You make them fun. Btw I followed your setup on my new p51 June nite.
Awesome! Thank you! We have thousands of videos, so hopefully you'll come back again too ;)
Hello guys hope you had a good Christmas and New Years. Great video guys!😁
Thanks! You too! We did, it was nice to have some time off work, but then I have this PESKY habit of working my butt off making CZcams videos ;) LOL
Hey Brian. Well, my lil tiny Night Vapor came today. What a blast! I tried to do your mixing trick with the rudder to aileron, and had my NX-8 screen identical to yours, but my rudder acted weird. Kinda went the direction, but the further I pushed the stick, it snapped back to neutral. really weird. I always flew my planes with the right stick, but lately been flying some helis, and getting used to using that left stick to really 'steer' the heli didn't translate well to my first few seconds of flight till I remembered how to fly one handed. lol
Thanks for the great videos!
That is STRANGE! I wonder if you only set the ONE DIRECTION and not the OTHER??? Revisit this one, and see...for me, if not for you.
when you're in that screen for RUDDER and AILERON MIX, you have to turn BOTH sides on.
@@BrianPhillipsRC OKAY! Watched again, and saw that I had my setting at the way bottom, the "switch" setting, on Rudder stick, instead of "on", and that seemed to do the trick. Thanks again man! for outdoor flying, I keep the battery forward, and add a tiny bit of down trim on the elevator, speeds it up a bit, ya know, as *fast* as this lil guy'll fly, and am looking forward to trying your sliding the battery back to move CG rearward for that slow, harrier type indoor flying. And yup, didn't even mess with any other batteries, went right to the 200 Mah cells. ;) This thing's a blast!
It does fly outside too! My maiden flight was outside with a 5mph breeze. It did GREAT! (Tho I caught myself always adding rudder to turn, even tho the rudder was set AS aileron.)
I've been hearing this, and it's got me intrigued. I want to fly it out in the dark in the next totally calm night of snow. That would be very cool!
In the 60s I saved lawn mowing money all summer to purchase a Cox Dune Buggy. It cost me $40. I charged $.24 - $.50 per lawn back then huge lawns sometimes took half the day and we got $1.00 for them. The buggy had an .049 engine and ran off model airplane fuel. It was fun to run free or tether line but I always wanted radio control. During that time period the transmitter and receiver combinations were very expensive and required an FCC license. It wasn't until the last 20 years and the evolution of spread spectrum technology that RC has become affordable. Now I have so many cars, trucks, airplanes, helicopters, boats and quads I may never get around to running all of them again. I think I have over compensated the lack of radio control from my childhood.
I just ordered this beautiful bird, but after watching this video, I think I made a mistake since I ordered four 180 mAh batteries hehe.
And btw, you ARE a good pilot. I remember you landing on a narrow grass strip with the Apprentice S 15 e ( old video). I couldn't do that haha.
Thank you! P.S. Don't let your cats eat your Night Vapor!!!! They ate the SECOND one we had, which broke my heart - until I used the electronics in a small Cessna 182 from some crappy Chinese company that was just TERRIBLE before...now it's AWESOME!
Oh no! Yeah, I could imagine cats would love to rip those wings apart.
Interesting you found a way to use the electronic.
If my plane's fabric doesn't hold, I'm going to look for some tougher but still light material.
@@BrianPhillipsRC
Nice vid Brian, I’m hoping to buy this and have fun with it
It is SUPER fun, just don't let the cats eat yours - LOL ;) They got one of our two!!!
I have this plane too, outdoors maybe 1mph wind ok. Safe mode is docile to video on my iPhone in slo motion mode!
I may have missed it, but the RTF transmitter can do dual rates, you change the rate by pressing down on the right stick. I think the transmitter light flickers on high or on low, not sure. But it has dual rates. I have one ordered and should get it Thursday.
Great video, your camera crew is awesome. Nice home, too. Lucky Devil.
@@BrianPhillipsRC You're Welcome, Brian. Your video was entertaining and fun all through.
Hello again, Brian. I think this is the best review and demo of the NV on the tube, and I've had mine for a few days now and figured out some easy fixes for the few foibles it has.
The spinner should be retained better, it is a nice bumper to protect the tiny prop shaft in collisions. Mine fell off once outside. I took a white paint marker and made it white so I could find it next time. To keep it on better I used a tiny spot of Blue RTV sealant down in the center hole to kind of stick it on, but still be removable. The glue can be picked right out of there easily if it becomes necessary.
The heavy 200 mah battery tended to fall loose and dangle in tight turns or bumpy landings. A twist tie (bread tie) cut in half and put around the battery in its holder fixed that. It's reusable, too.
The battery wires will eventually get pulled out of the plug on the brick, so I put a small blob of Blue RTV on the brick frame and stuck the wires to it to sort of stress relieve them. These two fixes should make it last a lot longer and cost almost nothing in weight. The RTV can be picked off easily any time.
Hope this helps other noobs with their new Night Vapors.
We fly the old versions outside when very light wind, this new one can handle it even better with the as3x. Half loop push out inverted, yes it can be done...
I recommend a small dab of hot glue on the tail landing gear. Lost mine during first flight and hard to find. Excellent flying
Yay I’ve been waiting for you to review this a but I was expecting a garbage bag special for this video but this is way better😂
The secret to genuine sustained and eager enjoyment of building and flying in the hobby should recognize that the hobby can in fact represents an economical pursuit of the absolute fundamentals of the miracle of flight in its most rudimentary elements and understandings of flight. The Night Vapor is a perfect example. Though most in the hobby remain interested in only mastering the flight of one plane and to thus lead to the desire to move to other and more advanced models I find it far more interesting as follows; Just collecting another plane in no way compares to taking the most basic of models such as the economical night Vapor and simply finding another person or anyone else to compete for the task of landing as close to a target. Additionally and also competing by putting a stopwatch on each plane for the skill to maintain flight the longest after motor shut off. Thus measurig one's skill in both turbulence and thermal condition in both inside and out side flying. Every one can buy the Night Vapor and compete economically for pilot skill and the miracle of slow micro floaters like the Night Vapor.
Yep, well said - We can all enjoy these planes so much more than WE showcase, since we're always "onto the next model" but I recall from my earlier years, before working with all these MFG'ers and Companies...I would just squeeze ALL the life out of every plane!!!! I miss those days, but there are so many people who aren't even aware of this hobby, and the joy it can bring, so it's a fair tradeoff, that I'll have to delay some of my own gratification to help reach this audience. We really want to get people off the couch, and into the air!!!
Thanks for the comment, and for being here, and please don't see what we do as trying to undermine your position, as it's really not. We're just trying to get these people to take the "gateway drug" (terminology from the local hobby shop who talked me into pulling the trigger for my first two planes) - then we'll hopefully help makes some more addicts for life ;)
I'm shocked SHOCKED! I saw this newest upload appear as if by magic on youtube. I felt so proud but I watched for awhile and Paul beat me to posting. Drats.
I've always been drawn to competition with a plane and pilot for the most basic of skills like landing as close to a target as possible, or stop watching the duration of a plane and pilot's ability to take advantage of the micro weather conditions such as managing turbulence and thermals under deadstick or glider conditions. Few are aware that indoors like gymnasiums or large building with atriums have micro weather systems at play as well as those micro weather conditions outdoors. Better known as the hunt for the mighty "Thermals". This little Night Vapor would make a great competitor for such indoor competitions. If I can get even one more guy to buy and compete in my Condominium atrium then it's "game on". LOL
after few times of use, when i accelerate or the fan spin, all plane vibrating , didnt expect that with its price
Great video Brian, you and your wife really put a lot passion and Effort in the videos. I want to ask you, do you know where I can buy the velcro for the umx planes and batteries?
I wouldn't. I'd just get whatever Velcro you can find at your store, and make sure it'll mesh up with what you have on the plane.
I DO understand why you're asking...that stuff is super SHORT...shorter, and higher quality than what you can generally find, but I've used the junk from the hobby shops and the junk from walmart - it all seems to suffer from quality I need in the end, so I just get whatever I can find and I usually just live with it.
Thinking of getting one of those for sure. Hey, what's the story with the B-26!??
If I had a convenient big room to fly it, it would be a buy. Beside I'm still waiting for my T-28 Trojan 1.1 m to be shipped. 😀
To change the led color: Set aux1/chan6 to button I (bind button). Press bind button 3 times to get into “set color” mode. what or how can i fix it ?
I saw that at the Covington rc hobbies it’s cheap for you but it’s a lot for a 9 year old.
At the rc hobbies in Covington it was rtf for $100 i think or it was bnf.
You just taught me what bind and fly ment and a little what binding is what is it?

WHY is it that when you turned the lights off... The lights suddenly went bright in London.......
Stay well
Where do you store all of your RC planes and stuff? If you don't kind me asking.
In my basement mostly, and there's a CRAP LOAD of them. We also have them all over the house, living room, kitchen, office, office closet...ALL over the place!
I wrote the Night Vapor off when i saw the price but after this video it's a "buy on sale" item lol. Great video as always you two 🛫 but what is on the kitchen table?
Ok you can’t do this to me, you can’t let me see that awesome B/A26 bomber and not talk about it!
It looks as if it uses the same transmitter as what comes with the Sport Cub s 2. Can the Sport Cub S 2 RTF transmitter bind to the Night Vapor?
I think you could, but not 100% sure you'd have access to SAFE on/off...give her a try!
What kind of connector does the battery you use have? I think this plane would be a blast indoors but I can’t figure out what kind of connector it has!

great little flyer, need your help Brian, got my 60 size ugly stik converted to electric but my motor doesn't come on until 50% stick position, using DX8 2nd gen,any ideas?thanks
You gotta look at the monitor...does the throttle move from the bottom of the stick (0%) to the top of the stick (100%) in the monitor mode? If so, then you can just calibrate the ESC. I thought I just answered this question yesterday???
Power down the plane, transmitter throttle at 100% ,then plug in the flight pack on the plane...the ESC will chirp like it's confused, then throttle to 0% and be careful, it'll arm at this point too... then try it carefully! If this doesn't work, you need to get a programming manual, and follow the steps, OR get an ESC Programming card.
@@BrianPhillipsRC thank you Brian,I finally got it fixed the other night, your instructions were spot on.I used the instructions from another mfg and they matched your instructions exactly. The esc is now calibrated, lol. It was driving me up a wall, kept following their instructions and it wasn't working, thanks again for your help
Need help battery and wire came off in flight i guess the Velcro turned loos bat and wire hit the ground now i nee to know how to take take the wing off to re sauder it back on please help. Ty
Sounds like you have it figured out...unfortunately it's pretty SMALL and not super easy, but you will have to scrape off the glue covering the two solder joints.
You CAN melt it off, but it's hard to get it to work.
There is no EASY answer, but for a skilled solder-er, it's doable. I've done it maybe 3 times on these micro bricks. This is probably the easiest plane to do it on, since it's basically right there (you don't have to dig the board out)
I bought the BNF Night vapor and picked up a DX6e, flew it around for a bit and now motor won’t turn on. Elevator and rudder work fine but throttle won’t work any help please.
Try giving like 10% throttle after starting up at 0% throttle, as usual, then FLICK the prop and if it starts up, you probably have a bad BRUSH on the Brushed motor. The part is cheap and easy to replace, if you need it. If you call HH they might replace it for you, but I can't say what they'll do.
So I bought this and the battery kept dropping and hanging by the wires and they broke off. They are sending me a new esc can I solder the wires back
When you get it, think about making a loop of clear tape, then use that to secure your lipo. I've had to do it on a few planes. I haven't personally needed too on this plane, but I did that a lot of times on my UMX planes that used to have opened bottoms.
one question, if there was a toothless rc model, would you buy it??
@@BrianPhillipsRC like if there was a toothless dragon rc plane model, would you buy it??
I seem you are not in mode 2 as your aileron is is on the left stick telling me you're in mode 4?👍
It's been a long time since we filmed this video but definitely Mode 2. I hadn't taken the time to check what Mode 4 was, until you asked this question. I do sometimes mix in a rudder control on BOTH left and right sticks, when it's a 3 CH, since I like the FEEL of "rolling" the plane with the rudder FROM command of the right (would be aileron) stick.
Hope this helps.
P.S. We just did this on the Avanti S 50mm, only it was to simulate aileron on the Throttle stick too, since it helps when you can't get to the right stick while hand launching. Check it out, if you're curious what I'm talking about.
Ok no buddy asked out of all these reviews what is the 4 screws for its driving me crazy .
Hey Dude! I did not know you are a cat person. Not wanting to be alone but low nurtering. (Dog person same but high nurtering!) I love your videos though!

Time to take the tree down pilot. 😜
Well, we were thinking of leaving it up for next Christmas - LOL!!!! Actually, my wonderful camera crew is going to deal with it soon ;)
So does this just have rudder and elevator please tell me
Rudder Elevator and Throttle. There's also a channel for LIGHT control, and SAFE.
I LOVE my Night Vapor. I mean, how many airplanes can one really fly indoors?
If ya put yours in High Alpha mode, you can fly it in the living room or base6. IF its fairly large.
Mine is one of the first ones made. The one with clear wings and tail feathers
A 7p may battery if remember correctly BUT ya DO need to be very careful.
I also have a UNUM Ithink its called. Its has like a 10 inch wingspan
And a 50 or 60 mA batt. Two channels only. Just throttle and rudder. The faster ya go, the more altitude you get. Then, you just steer.
I think I paid $40. Delivered.
UNUM or UNIM? I dunno. Too lazy to go look.
It's all light weight foam. Its easy to walk faster.
I think they might even make a mini Night Vapor too? Mine is 3 channel.
I guess yours are newer ,because none of mine have SAFE technology. Gue6i gotta check Ebay and Ama9now. Thanks. LOL
They are amazing! I too had the Inum...10 grams, and very fun, but HARDER to fly by far than the Night Vapor ;)
RTF $120.00 Thank goodness do not have to put FCC transponder in it. It would not get off the ground. The poor camera crew round and round. I would need an extra propeller.
LOL - I'm so glad they backed off the EVERY PLANE rule...but still plenty to be pissed about in Remote ID...
Brian, you can change the color of the lights so you and your son can tell which plane is yours. You did not show this function.
I knew it was there, but didn't know how to do it... now we do...
Press the top left button three times then push the RIGHT STICK UP, then left or right, then when you get the color you want, press the TOP LEFT BUTTON to exit.
It's a COOL feature!
