"I need something light. Googled some salads around here..." Ends up with two soy milks, dumpling buns, phở, tofu/ground meat dish, millet congee, fried artichokes and something else I can't even remember 🤣❤️
there were no salads...😢
🤣😝💥💯
The bun with the pork, was that the dumpling bun?!
@@MikeyChenX so sad xD hope you still enjoyed your Meal Mikey^^
@@MikeyChenX I'm sorry you didn't get your salad, but it's so much more fun for us to watch you eat these smorgasbords of amazing foods. 🤩Thank you for always sharing your food adventures with us even when your plans go awry 🙏🏻
The Filipino aunt's soft skills are on point. She automatically just started having a conversation with him and made him feel comfortable. That's what I like most about Filipino culture. Of course there are bad apples everywhere but most often than not, they're extremely friendly.
I used to work at a school that had quite a few Filipino families (I’m in Australia) and all the parents were so kind, so lovely and generous with their time and food at every single school event or fundraiser. I still miss the foods they’d make for the annual school fetes 🤤
I grew up around Filipino gang members.
@@pittmma7618 My condolences. Gang violence amount Asian communities isn't a cut and dry, no asian is involved in gangs or violence schtick, isn't really true. Of course saying that, all gang activities are exceptions rather than rules throughout ethnic communities.
I AM the one who made that “ bo ne” Mikey had 😂😂 Really stoked when I saw him walking in the restaurant!
Dude! What restaurant did he get it from?
It’s at Pho Bo To & Bo Ne in Houston, TX!
Aw congrats! That’s so cool to cook for a food CZcamsr you actually watch lol.
It looked so good!
Tuyệt vời :>
Dear Mikey you were asking how to order the Filipino way, you kinda did it the correct way by just pointing to the dish. We call eateries like that (as well as the way you order) in the Ph "turo-turo" (literally point-point). The saucy beef dish you had are called kaldereta (the one with bones) and mechado (the one that you liked the sauce and with beef fat). You have the best food content as always. Keep safe. Ps. Congrats on the girl
*This is how many people starving by watching this?* 👍🏻🖤💗
Hubby was jealous of this meal, so he wanted to get pho. Even though our meal for dinner was already ready 😂 Thanks Mikey for another video ❤
Mike - "I wanted something light. So I ordered these 20 dishes"
That tofu soup is what we call a "happy accident"
🤣
Kind of random, but I have to say that these videos and all the education about Asian culture helped me fix my bad eating habit of skipping breakfast. I still love cereal but more as a snack and I got really tired of the usual American breakfast fare. Having ramen with an egg, or rice instead got me hungry again in the morning. So thank you! 🤗
love it!
Eggs with rice and some kinda sauce (like literally anything I have in my pantry lol) is my go to comfort breakfast if I don’t feel like eating. And Loco Moco when I’m super hungry and cold is the best 🤤
@@MikeyChenX insert drooling noises 😂 😂 😂 😂
I go for a piece of salmon and rice with furikake when I want a "big" breakfast.
It's super amazing.
😊
@@adelaamarante I have to say, that sounded amazing enough, and I was lucky enough to have some seasoning left, I just had it for breakfast 👍👍
betcha that happy "accident" was some restaurant recognizing Mikey and were like "hey, give him our meatiest, hot oiliest tofu dish on the menu! he's sure to like that!"
meta unlocked
lol If it works, it works.
You did it right, Mikey! It’s called “turo turo” in the PH, which literally translates to “point point” because you just point at what you want to eat. Hehe
“I was looking for salad places-“ stop right there. You okay, Mike? 😂
Mikey, please make "This is what I eat when I'm not eating" into a shirt 😆😆
Agreed.
Definitely!
Here here
I am envious of your lifestyle. Due to health issues I live vicariously through your videos. Keep up the great work, Mike.
Houston's Vietnamese food offering is very diverse. When you're craving a certain item on a typical menu, there are restaurants that cater to that specific item. Here are some examples of specialize item restaurants: pho, pho ga, hu tieu, bun bo hue, banh canh, banh cuon, banh mi, quán nhậu, Hue cuisine, Viet Cajun, com tam, ga hainam. There's also places to get speciality items such as xoi, che, ko bo, nem chua, nước mía, goi tu, Cha Lua, cafe su da. If you can't decide, there's also Kimson buffet that has a little of everything
Viets from Dallas will drive to Houston just to eat a whole day and drive back home.
That is great about Houston. Any cuisine is here
@@susanriddle9408 Who has the best Louisiana/Cajun food over there? Please don't tell me Pappadeax's....lol...Hi, from San Antonio....
Nothing like this in Europe
@@tekkenfan01 not even France?
"That was a good breakfast - hey, look, it's lunchtime!" Classic Mikey!
So what have we learned today class?
We learned that when Mikey isn't eating, he's eating but slower...
I can't hahahaha 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for loving Filipino food, Mikey! Just a tip tho, use a spoon with your fork when eating Pinoy food to scoop the sauce. You can also ask them to pour sauce over your rice for maximum flavor. Great video as always! 😊
14:17 - "At this point the eggs have pretty much scrambled itself" ~ (proceeds to beat the crap out of it with the fork)... 😂🤣😂🤣 Awesome ! LOVE your sense of humor, never a dull moment. Thanks for keeping us laughing !!
that vietnamese steak and eggs made me hungry again
The abundance of great Asian food in Houston was a pleasant surprise when I first moved to the city. There’s food from the Middle East all the way over to Japan and a bunch from in between! It’s definitely one of my favorite attributes of Houston.
Thanks for posting the video, I can’t wait to try some of these spots and support the local food biz!
Mikey: "i wanted something light, i ordered pho just broth"
Also Mikey: 12 buns, congi, fried artichoke, mystery soup and a beef plate
The fear when he said “did I say soy sauce” 😂😂😂 such a legend
I can't wait to run into one day Mikey. Native Houstonian here. We all love your content on both channels! Keep up the amazing work!
Man, you're living the best life! I'm Khmer and we're obsessed with rice, steak, and the awesome fish sauce for dipping. My husband makes this at least once a week lol. Also kimchi nachos are sooo good.
This is the first time seeing the Chinese fried dough being split like that before eating. . . I'm definitely gonna be doing that for now on 😋 IT JUST MAKES SENSE TO BE DOING THAT!!!
miss you
Mr mike keep ‘em coming so much to learn, you are the Asian brother we have never had!!
That’s my favorites Filipino spot in Houston! It’s so underrated!
Hey mike! Thank you for making the video of going to Golden Dumping House! My gf has been constantly talking about trying new things, & the dumplings was a golden hit!! We’re definitely going to be trying this spot out!
wow everything looks so yummy! The dill dumplings looked amazing. Never really heard of dill being used in Asian cuisine. My family is Ukrainian so we use a lot of dill - I LOVE anything with dill in iy!
Sometimes I wonder if when Mike has something AMAZING he walks away from the camera JUST to tell them. Like he can't wait to compliment someone on how delicious their food is. Sounds like something he would do tbh
Mikey- “ I only have $15 in cash”
Then Eats 3 lbs in grilled meats… love it
Dill dumplings are life changing! I will always remember the first time my aunt made beef and dill dumpling! 😍
Yummm!!!!
"...A saucy thunderstorm???" 🤣🤣
Leave it to Mikey.
Yes! This...
This right here is what I needed! Im hungry, don’t care and am so looking forward to this!
Your live stream kimchi was a lot of fun.
I am really having a lot of fun exploring all the Asian food in my area. Thanks for the inspiration. 😊
Mikey: "I'll order something light for dinner, like a salad or something."
Also Mikey: *orders the whole menu of 2 restaurants
dont worry mikey . just this past weekend my parents went on vaca and i was home alone and decided to order some Chinese food and because of watching you every morning i had ALLOT of ideas!! i spent $60 just on food and appetisers for myself and gave the driver a $10 tip. My parents joked that when we order for all 3 of us they usually only spend $30 LOL
I love that when you tell us what show you are watching. Too many options and I only watch what people recommend
I love that you love Filipino food!!😆
I’m so glad to know that one my fav creator love the food that I grew up with! If your ever in Chicago again let me show you around my favorite Filipino restaurants!!
I’m lying here all night in pain -can’t sleep. Then I saw this r3commended (I’m a long time subscriber), & watching it was the most relaxed I’ve been able to be all night. You have a great way about you. Thank you for your content.
hope you feel better!
@@MikeyChenX thank you
I love updates on the latest dramas Mikey is watching! 😂 thanks for the tv recommendations!
Thanks for this happy video, just what I needed this morning to get me started before I start my working from home days. New Zealand has gone into national lockdown for 3 days (except Auckland for 7 days where the single community case of the delta variant has been identified).
P.S. love that Chinese fried bread!!
21:15 Finished a giant plate of cecig , 2 plates of rice, tomato beeth and some spare ribs....
Looks at time.. oh. Lunch time. Time to get some more food....
Awesome..
Hi im from philippines, im happy to see you like our food. Its so heart warming.
When Mikey uploads i drop everything and come running for the play button
One of the best things about Houston when I lived there was the sky. The colors, the cloud formations, the sky seems so low, and the clouds move and change so fast. But then ... there's the humidity, the bugs, the heat. But the food was wonderful and so were the people
Hehe, nicely timed Mikey! Just submitted all of my assignments and I’m ready for my food video marathon ❤️ Thanks for the consistent uploads 🥺 Appreciate you lots sir~
God bless Mikey, light dinner turned into a feast! Love your videos.
I have watched "Use of my Talent" three times. It is wonderful, I hope you like it as much as I did. Another good series is "When I see you again". They both have Jasper Liu, who I just adore.
Once again, I love your videos and have been watching for years. Please show us you finishing every meal like you used to before, even if everything in between is cut out. I get immense satisfaction and relief from the fact that you are finishing every meal and nothing is going to waste.
Edit: 15:32 I am so happy.
@MIKEY CHEN, YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! CONGRATS TO YOUR NEW RELATIONSHIP!!!
That unexpected tofu dish looks like it should be spooned over rice 🍚.
Mike's, "just a little bit of hot oil", is the equivalent to Gordon Ramsay's, "just a touch of olive oil".
I kept thinking, that what was in the jar in the first place was a Mike sized portion already.
“Olovol”
Good in supporting local small business in the community....
I have been so excited by your last couple of videos on both channels because I just moved to the Katy area!!! You are just making my list of places to visit! Yum!
Oh wow!! Another mouth watering video!! All those places looked wonderful and the outdoor Asian market is super! I wish we had something like that in NW Arkansas. I had my first philippine food in Arizona at the first of the year and I saw a Philippine Restraunt has opened in a town close to me so we will be visiting it ASAP! Thanks again for this video!!!👍👍👍
The Steak and Eggs look like a must. So good.
Gotta tell you - I love the non scripted part. Just makes Mikey like someone I want to meet some day. Love ya!
I absolutely love your version of 'a little bit' of hot oil!

Love to know even if I can't get to go to the these countries, you show us where we can these specialties, thank you. Stay safe and enjoy your life,as always your biggest fan from Arkansas 😉👍🏻
I went to that otaku festival on sunday!!!! I wouldn’t of ever thought you went there! I enjoyed the different stalls they had there! I would of wish i seen you and had some good food together! Love tour content man!!!
I actually did a double take when Mikey said to dip it in Soy sauce
Me too I had to pause and I laughed so hard when he realized what he said 😂🥰
Every time I think of breakfast… or just a hearty fulfilling meal… steak and eggs is what comes to mind, with some cheese and onions. Ah. Amazing content Mikey!!
saw that show when it was released on Netflix... waiting for the episodes were tough... great show and the actress for you guys who didn't know is the same one from "meteor garden" and its a Taiwanese show...
Every single time I watch your videos, I get so hungry lol seeing that egg 🍳 in the beginning of the video, I know what i want to eat for breakfast!!🤣
I just learned this about Katy and I've been in Houston for 10 years. My coworker is always bringing us Asian snacks . It's soo funny how he just comes from out of nowhere with treats lol
Mikey killn it with the uploads. Love it. ;)
You know what you should do Mikey? Have portable silverware so you don't have to use those tiny forks, that way you can get a good full bite, then when you're done just stick it in your bag & go to the next place. Love how much you love food!
I love watching your videos, after my dad had passed in 2018, I found a coping way with Kpop music. I then began to love many Asian things , so I only came to say that I watched that Chinese drama you were talking about , “Use for my talent” and yes it was cute! I love Asian dramas on Netflix. I’m currently watching hospital playlist! So good! I also live in the next state, in Louisiana!
Thank you Mikey for always promoting filipino foods..👍
4:32 in Indonesia it's called Cakwe, served with chili vinegar as dipping sauce. It's actually a chinese influenced cuisine
Hey Mike. 👍 Excited to view your new upload. I'm gonna munch on some Pringles and try not to get food envy. 😊
Just the video I wanted... To accompany with my dinner...!! Keep it up buddy... 😉
LMAO when the sisig came with no egg I knew Mikey was gonna be sad panda
I love artichokes way more than a person should and I’m so jealous of those fried ones! Have to check if that place is in Austin, too.
Hello Jenn
I hate to tell you Mike, but any nonstick coating from DuPont is very toxic. They claim to have fixed some of the issues with nonstick coating, but given the company's history of cover ups I would stop using that pan.
A well seasoned cast iron or good wok is what you need.
@@Steve-bm3cq yes, well seasoned cast iron is better than any nonstick pan.
@@nopandakit8051 Is DuPont same same misen? I have the same misen pan Mike has 😭
Non stick pans suck period. As soon as they get scratched a single time you have to throw them out, but people don't of course, and bacteria will get in the scratches. All of those products are toxic so you are eating that as well. Stainless steel, copper, or cast iron would be better. But Mike is only talking about that pan because they are paying him to. How often does he even cook I wonder with all the restaurants he visits.
We love ours no issues
Tea cup Cafe is my go to bubble tea/drink place! It's so wild recognizing a lot of the restaurants you go to in Houston
Mikey made the best breakfast sandwich! Love the flight reviews! And food
Hey Mikey, we just finished "Use For My Talent" and it was pretty good. I also recommend two K-Dramas, "Vincenzo" and "The Uncanny Counter".
Hope you can visit Singapore one day again soon Mike!! 🇸🇬 would love to binge eat with you 🍛🍲🍜🥘
Watching your channel has inspired me to try new foods.
I just received my Hot Oil collection and I LOVE ❤ THE Crispy Garlic Chili Oil.. tried it in my Pho 🍜😋 .. Definitely going to try them all..😃👍
yes mike you got to point on the food that you want to eat on that resto, in the philippines we call that kind of place turo turo meaning point point have a blast and more power
Imagine your order bring wrong and then watching this video and seeing Mike eat your food 🤣🤣
As someone who will be moving to Houston soon, thank you Mike Chen for this video! Can't wait to enjoy the Asian food scene in Houston soon!
im glad katy is treating you well Mike hope to run into you in my hometown again in asia town!
Love you Mikey for featuring Filipino foods ❤️
He constantly lives in food heaven
Love the videos! I was born in Houston, so I love seeing you there. I actually live in Midland now(west texas), but I still like seeing Houston. I am a car guy, so I would love to see more about the cars you are driving. I try my best to figure out what you are driving, but it's hard sometimes. I know you drive a lot of rentals, but I would still like to know what you are driving. A quick little view would be fine, and maybe a thought or two about it, like, not like etc... Thanks!
Omg I live in houston! How am I just now finding out about this market! I am going this weekend! Thank you!
Great vlog as always Mike !
Just something light to eat ! Orders enough food for a week but that’s Mike all over lol
I am looking forward to travel to taste these amazing dishes
Mike is the person that after having his breakfast he’s already thinking of his lunch 😂🤗
No, he is thinking of having another breakfast! LOL
no. he thinks of lunch while eating breakfast
When I was in the Army I served in Houston at a unit for almost five years and yes Houston does have some interesting clouds I called them skyscraper clouds. Because they look like high-rise buildings of course LOL
when you said highly recommend this as a breakfast... after seeing how much you ate I was like wait what that was breakfast? Lol
As a Houston native, you description of the city is spot on. Well done.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022
MIKEY CHEN
Little V is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant near me.The truffle fries and mango sticky rice is so delicious!!!
