  • August of 2022 brings the return of Costube Symposium, a four-day virtual event celebrating costume content. This is my second year contributing to the event, and for the "Meet a Costuber" prompt I'll take you on a studio tour behind the scenes where we make our costumes at the theatre where I work.

This, as your videos always are, is excellent. Best Costume Auntie Bricoleuse - mindful of professing on the fun and the safety. Huzzah.

Looking forward to this year’s CoSy! I am particularly interested in glove making/patterning, both modern and (primarily) historical. I would love any resources on the subject you can recommend!

We use a 1950 title called How to Make Gloves by Eunice Close as the primary reference in my class-it’s out of print but you can find it free online and several people offer reprints on Etsy. I also found a good article on it in Threads Magazine back in the early 1990s but that's probably not digitized. Good luck! Gloves are difficult because hands are so complex, but they're so satisfying when you get the pattern right!
