The Grandmaster Heartside serves as the culmination of my Celeste experience. I've been setting up that line for 4 videos now.
The heartside itself, while not the gameplay of the rooms, was almost entirely the project of valkyria. She carried this entire map, and more than that, she put up with my eternal bitching. My relationship with this map is pretty complicated - I playtested a significant portion of it, but still had an absolutely terrible experience when replaying it for this video. I don't think I'm going to be playing Celeste again for a while. The amount of times I choked at the end of a flag totals over 120. At one point, my thumb started to bleed to the point where I needed to play the next couple flags with a band-aid. I recognize the objective quality of the map, regardless of how questionable the philosophy behind it may be, but I can't say I had fun.

The shatter song polyrhythms go crazy
As someone who’s struggling with the red advanced stages, I’m looking at this like “i can’t move my fingers fast enough for this shit”
something I just now realized is that at the end of flag one, when you are going up the tower, each heart crystal is the same color as the ones from each of the lobbies which are the same color as the fruits they are based on.

Edit: that end gave me fucking chills that was so good
the ending gives me chills every single time, which is very rare for something that gives me chills
The ending made me cry when i was finished the map (it was a blind playthrough)

I'm aware I'm so not getting to the skill levels required to beat any Grandmaster map, but goodness if that entire section after flag 1 completely synced with the music gave me chills 0.0

I "know" my skill would be around advanced/expert and currently at advanced heartside, watching this hurts my fingers, eyes and brain even though I don't actually play it lmao (and prob never gonna touch this)

On a scale from 1 to 10, how fun do you feel this is to play?
I really gotta know if it's worth grinding the hell out of the game to get to this level of skill lol
10 for me, most gm+ maps are fun as hell! But only if you find playing celeste fun in the first place ofc
This map was a 10 for me, it was a really great culmination of everything I loved about SJ
if they got to the point where they could beat this, they must have found it at least somewhat enjoyable
it’s fun to try and climb the lobbies though, so why not give it a try
Absolutely 10, this is some of the best mapping you can get from this high level of difficulty

what don't you like about the map?
the philosophy behind a lot of the rooms was "make it as hard as possible" with quality as a second consideration, I recognize the insane polish on everything and the general strengths of the map but I feel that philosophy kind of hurt it overall. In general my bad experience doesn't represent the map, that's the only objective complaint I have

This is Grandmaster Heartside, one of the hardest modded levels, and the final challenge of Strawberry Jam, the largest modded collab. It has an incredible skill curve, and anyone can get to this level, with enough time. If you haven’t already, I highly suggest playing Strawberry Jam. You won’t regret it.
