Honestly I feel like a c6 corvette is gonna be a much better alternative. They can be modded to the moon and back, same aftermarket support, probably about the same mpg, only downside is that the interior is shit and they are a bit older but still a miles better option.

the reason its not is because most brz are not bought by the driver they are bought by there mom/dad and a c6 insrunace/saftey is not the same as brz
c6 has a good interior the c5 is the plasticy one but the c5 has a better exterior and same amount of aftermarket
I dont understand why people hate on the BRZ and GR86, their fun to drive
They hate on the old model of BRZ and GT86 due to the lack of power and the massive torque dip half way through the "power band". Its a car that looks more than it feels. The new BRZ and GR86 have since fixed a lot of these problems and has become a true enthusiast car loved by many. Including myself as I drive a 2023 GR86.
A small bump in power and a simple time gets rid of that dip most talk about. The car is a great drivers car regardless. I’m happy I bought my used one for 10k with 50k miles on it in 2020… right before process went crazy
As netgear said, these priced themselves out of where they’re meant to be. They aren’t affordable really for the people who want them. You have to give up an arm and a leg for a fun car that isn’t really practical. And all the fun practical cars are as expensive or more expensive. That’s why getting an Aw11 mr2 is the right decision for everyone
an aw11 isn’t cheap and these kids will snap oversteer off a touge pass it’s not a good beginner sports car

BRZ with 93K miles, and they want close to $16K. Bwahahaha!! Sadly that appears to be the trend with cars, especially Hondas. I don't care how reliable the brand is. If a car has close to or over 100K miles on the odometer, it's ridiculous that they're being posted for $30K. Effin joke.

The pricing really is crazy for these in the US. They're still cheap in Japan 8-10k USD for a Japanese bottom of the market - so 100k miles and no accident damage. UK is also around the same price as Japan for these; you'll pay around 25k USD at the top of the market for a very clean one with around 30k miles. All manuals of course.

I started modifying my 2014 Mazda 3 at 2,000 miles as soon as aftermarket parts were being released for it. Intake, exhaust, short shifter, HID headlights and fogs, stiffer engine mounts, lowering springs, etc. Got it tuned for Premium and have been enjoying it ever since. Took 4 years to pay off and I’ve been enjoying the last 5 years with no payment and a nicely build car for the last 9 years.
There’s nothing wrong with modifying a car still under warranty and being paid for if done properly and carefully. 🤷🏻♂️
It's not a flex if the bank owns the car. You have to have outright pay off the whole loan for it....

I bought a auto 17' 86 with 29k miles that was written off as totaled, for 9k at an auction. The repairs and rebuit titled was about 4k so I got a good first car for 14k.

These things are meant to be a HS graduation present or first cat for your kid to learn how to wrench and hoon in without killing himself since it's slow. Remember the Ae86 in thr Initial D anime was literally just the kids first car his dad passed down to him and he just made thr most of it as he could as a tofu delivery driver.
Problem is with these listings and people is they think these cars are something more than just the turorial level to your auto adventure. You're supposed to turn this into the 120k mile gutted track car 10-15 years later when you're a expert wrencher whose already purchased his actual dream car he spent those years saving up for. They really aren't meant to be resold.

An alternative to the BRZ would be the Genesis too. Very similar but a little better reliability-wise unless it's a 1st gen 2.0. 86's are definitely overpriced and Genesis coupes as well but not near as much.

I'd like one of these just for a point a-b car. Way better fuel economy then my trucks, and I don't care about practicality because of said trucks. And I've torn my ACL's like 6 times. So daily driving a stick isn't impossible for me, but it's annoying and painful, so I'd want an auto.
