USAC eats its young. I love circle track racing, asphalt or dirt. Fifty years ago, a race at Winchester or Salem would have been loaded with drivers with household names. NASCAR (and the Outlaws too) still have leading drivers in the field. USAC inherited a top league from AAA. What happened?

Their first half of the race is spent holding onto the handling, burning off fuel, and saving tires.
