    Don't listen to Intex telling you to buy a new cartridge every couple of weeks. I was in the inground pool industry for about 20 years. Cartridge filters can be cleaned using a bottle of cartridge cleaner. Or you can make your own with a solution of muriatic and water or vinegar and water and soaking it for a few hours. You should be able to get a full season or more from 1 cartridge.

    • @descendantoffools9767
      @descendantoffools9767 Před 2 lety +2

      @@lesnla you can just hose it off every couple of weeks, but then every couple of months do a deep cleaning with the cleaning solution. It's like washing your clothes with just water. It will take off a lot of the surface dirt, but to get a real good clean into the fibers, you need a cleaning agent like soap.

      I'm using it for an unapproved purpose of cleaning an underground pond, so getting it primed is done by pouring water in through the air purge valve opening with both hoses elevated until it's filled up, then closing the valve and quickly immersing both hoses down into the water before turning it on.
      Then it's able to get a proper prime to operate.

    I ran into one more reason your pump may not turn on. The GFCI reset plug gets wet and water can get inside of it and pump will not go on at all. I had to take my GFCI plug and disassemble it and blow compressed air inside of it. Reattach the wires and reassemble. Hit the switch and pump turned on. If screw are corroded use rubbing alcohol to clean on screws and allow time to dry before reattaching. Hope this helps someone else after first checking everything in this video these are the first steps to take. Especially the air in the system is very common.

    Or #4..your tubes are in wrong location on pump.
    The intake tubes with screens that T together go to top hose on pump.
    The one by itself with single hose goes to bottom hose on pump.Think gravity from top intake to sick water from top then blow out the bottom to the exhaust..I always use dielectric grease on my o ring seals (pure silicone grease.)
    Those O rings last about 1 season and dry rot easily.
    By next season they may look like hell when you go to reattach them.

    Hello . Thank you for the review, it was very helpful. I learn something new. Just a quick question. Do you or can someone uses the pool while the filter is running? Because I saw your family in the background but I am sure the pool wasn’t running yet. Just out of curiosity because it has a warning sign not to occupy it when operational . The reason for this inquiries is that I have bought an extension water fountain to replace the outlet into the pool. It’s quite fun to see the water falling and my daughter loves to see it but I am afraid to let her use the pool while operational. I don’t know if you’re the right person to this question maybe intex can explain why not to use the pool when the filter is on . Apparently due to experience you can help. I am sorry I have written to much but I appreciate your time reading through. Thank you and keep safe.

    • @DutchSailingFamily
      @DutchSailingFamily  Před 4 lety +3

      Hi Ekiti, thanks for your comment! To be honest the warning is simply because it's still an electric device operating with water, so theoretically there is always a certain risk of electric shock. Obviously they have to build it to standards to make sure this does not happen but the best advice I can give you is to not swim in the pool when the pump is on.. it's for your safety.

      Hi Kim, oooh that's pretty bad! First step I would take is switch it off, lift the pump above pool level on a table or so, then open it and inspect the rubber seal. Maybe just take it out of place and put back in. It's possible that when closing it, it doesn't go in place perfectly, and then it would leak a lot but that should fix it... I hope that helps!

    I'm unable to get a few of the clamps to screw together tight on the hose, what else could I use? Also, how do I know if the water intake is working?

      Maybe cable zip ties would work? You'll know the intake works when you see water flowing in and out when turning it on.. It should be quite obvious..
      Hope that helps!

      @@DutchSailingFamily Yup. Zip ties and teflon tape are very helpful.

    Thank you so much! You really helped us! How many hours per day should the pump run?

      Hii! That's so nice to hear!!! 😃😃 I've read in Intex info to run it at least as long as to filter all the water in the pool once a day. So it depends on the capacity of the pump and the pool, which are numbers you can look up on the packaging. Mostly that's about 1 hour. But no harm in running it more, your pool will then be cleaner and fresher! Just don't run it while swimming. I hope that helps!

    Hi , what if the pump is pilling water from the top? From the lid and the air vent screw area. It spills a lot of water when turned on.

      Hi! Check the seal, maybe it is not properly closed or damaged a little or some dirt.

      Hi Jeric! If you give some more info maybe I can help. First of all, is any water moving in the pipes?

    I’ve been watching videos because I’m confused as to how the pump can be turned off? Is it only by unplugging, no specific button right?
    I had mine running for about 8 hours today and when I went back outside it wasn’t running anymore. I unplugged it and then plugged it back in but the water was flowing very slowly. It’s my first week with this pool and filter so a bit worried already 😩

      Hi Monica, you're correct. There is no button to switch it on or off. If it stops running it could be that the filter needs to be cleaned, especially if it runs slower after getting it back on. Otherwise could it be overheating? Try to put some shade over it.
