John Denver is about as close to country music that I can enjoy. Incredible voice on him. Another great musician taken way too early.
He was huge in the 70’s. Probably among the top artists and singer-songwriter of that era. I feel that Rocky Mountain High is his absolute best song. It’s almost magical. Seriously.
I have always like when John Denver was on the Muppets
John Denver is nostalgia for me. Born in ‘71. Grew up to my parents playing his 8-tracks and seeing him on the Muppets. So while I tend to listen to rock and metal hearing this brings a lot of nostalgia. Love his voice. This was also my favorite song of his as a kid.
Everyone that talks about him say he was just about the nicest person to know. Tragic to die so young.
Every time I hear this song I can't get the visual of Pauly shore on a large tractor in the movie son-in-law lol!
My family listened to john denver all the time while i was in grade school, everyone was sad when he died - just like Lennon, it’s frustrating that we will never know what could have come next. He did a few “TV specials” in the 70s that might be on youtube, I remember one was in Lake Tahoe
Who can’t love John Denver!! He was great and gone too soon! Great video! Be well and God bless… from Texas!!
You married up, big time. Your wife is lovely. Well done. I feel the same about my wife of 33 years. Good job .
John Denver lived in Colorado but moved to California not long before he was killed in a plane crash John was a pilot and owned I believe 3 planes the one he was killed in was new and the gas tank switch was behind him and he was going to have it moved to the front but he took the plane up knowing he had a full tank on one side but the tank he was using only had 20 gallons or so but the gage was showing he had well over 100 gallon but he did it realize he was on a 20 gallon side and when the tank ran dry he tried to reach behind and switch tanks but did not reach it before the engine shutdown and he crashed just offshore and was killed.
You have probably heard Rocky Mountain High, but if not you should show her that one, it's a really cool song.
He was huge in the 70’s.

His real name is John Duesseldorf…grew up on a farm in Colorado. In “Rocky Mountain High” (another great song!), he pronounces the states name the correct way 😁. I grew up on John Denver…one of the greats!
John Denver is my most favorite singer! Has a diverse array of music! I heard you say that you have a few records but I want to throw out others songs: "Rocky Mountain High," "Sunshine On My Shoulders," "Leaving On a Jet Plane," and the title song of the album you played "Thank God" on is "Back Home Again." That album was a #1 album with a few top hits on it including "Annie's Song." You guys would enjoy him!
John was a real Treasure. 😊
John Denver was a great singer and song writer. He sounded just as good live as he did on the studio versions. He has loads of great songs but if you want a love song listen to his live version of 'For You' from the Wildlife Concert it is stupendous. He died far too young. R.I.P. John.
Need to do Rocky Mountain High & yes we lived in Aspen in CO but was not born there.
This was so fun! I had forgotten how great this song was. John was fantastic in "Oh, God!" as well, which I recently saw again for the first time in years, maybe decades. "Well HE thinks he's God! And I'm in no position to argue with him!"
There's a funny story about Buddy Rich going in for an emergency surgical procedure. Just before the surgery, they ask him if he's allergic to anything and, without missing a beat, he says, "Country music." 😂I don't happen to feel the same way at all, but I always thought that was the greatest comeback ever.
I remember his weekly show. John Dutchendorf...
That was my 1st album and excellent top to bottom.
His voice is crystal clear & kinda rings like a 12 string guitar.
I had this song on a 45 when I was a kid
The West Virginia song guy. Yes Camilla, I agree, if someone just sang those two words most people would instantly know the song.
Yeah first to like
Justin, you know Rush is my absolute favorite, but love me some JD as well. You chuckle.
First song I ever liked on the radio was Take Me Home Country Roads
I’m not sure but I don’t think you’ve ever seen this clip at least the excellent quality this is why I love jazz bass
Really need to react to the LIVE PREFORMANCE of this song!
If you want to hear the absolute beauty of his voice listen to Calypso, a song he wrote in honor of the ship named that.
