After watching videos and hearing talk from lots of people about all kinds of these Chinese/knockoff welders, I think the only real variable in any of these welders is that there is no quality control coming out of the sweat shops. One might be great and one might be horrible just like the one I have. Also, it may be a matter of opinion, this “welder” does, can and will weld, just not reliably or consistently.

@@trailercourtsupervisor I just bought this welder, the J422 electrodes that came with it worked great. I bought some 3/32 6011 and it doesn't run like the others. I'm going to keep using it to see what happens.

@@jasongarcia1758 yeah it worked great even with the 6011 I have but it just would NOT run the 7018, it was probably more to do with being up at 100 amps than anything.

@@trailercourtsupervisor any tricks that may help me get the 6011 rods sparking? I changed the ground clamp to a beefier HFT clamp. You know, that good Chinese quality. Then used the skinny 1/16 AWS 6013 rods. I'm surprised at tensile strength of those cheap rods. I made an fitting to attach my gas auger bits, to my electric mortar mixer for some tunnel plumbing work I'm doing under my home foundation. I'd like to get the 6011 rods working, I have a stainless steel tank I'm making into a solar water heater. My mig welder spatters too much and burns too hot.

@@jasongarcia1758 you aren’t aiming to run 6011 on that stainless tank are you?
