- Come with me on a typical day working the weekend as a hospice nurse. Working the weekend is similar to on-call as we can get called out to visits at any time during our shift but we also have scheduled visits we do.
Scheduled visits will be updated in the morning and we receive report via our charting system on what the visit pertains to, which visits we (might) have to go to first, and any other pertinent information.
I love working weekends- I call it the hospice emergency department. The day usually flies by and I am kept on my toes with different tasks and situations that allow me to maintain and expand my skill set as a nurse.
