Horses defend themselves by kicking when they feel another horse is getting too close to its food, its foal (baby), a special herd mate, or if another horse is acting aggressively towards it. In the wild, horses use powerful kicks, often with both back legs at the same time, to ward off predators.
Like two kids in the back seat during a long car ride!! "He's looking at me! She's touching my space! Stop or I'm telling mom!" "Don't make me pull this car over!" 😂😂😂
Hahahahaha! That was fun watching those two escalate with each other. Stop looking at me. I wasn't looking at you. You were. I wasn't. Look at me again, and I'll kick you. Oh, yeah? I'll kick you. No way - kick, kick. Oh, woops, we forgot, we have people on our backs.
Wow. That is amazing - I didn’t know that horses could do this kind of sideways kick. I imagine it can be quite painful to them or a human. Now I see why they say “Beware horses may bite or KICK”. They most certainly do. Very interesting. Thank you!
They obviously had it in for one another I did laugh it was as though one was saying You kicked me first the other saying you started it with the look you gave me.! The guard scuffed hold of the horse dragged him away.. lol Aww how funny that was I cracked up laughing.🇬🇧❤🇬🇧❤ Thank you for a most enjoyable video ❤
Again..I don't know how many times I've watched this, it still cracks me up . Like me & my brother in the back seat...you know the old days of piling kids in the car &, the inevitable fight.
...another "unfinished business" started probably way earlier back in the stables. By my experience horses are actually quite resentful and for a very long time. Clearly the most pissed one is the horse on the left. I think he won this first round of an argument that may become neverending. Btw, not the usual punishment parade, great catch!
The one on the right as we are looking at them started it and he won this round (I think we are probably talking about the same horse, as he's on the left of the other one as far as the riders are concerned). The only kick from either of them that really made contact was the last one, and that was also from the horse on the right where he caught the one on the left a hard kick on his hock at 2:27. The horse on the left stood with that leg hanging for a couple of seconds and then resting on the toe of his hoof for the remainder of the video.
@@laceandbits i agree on the horse who started it, was more aggressive and made contact with its kick (you are right, i maybe did not explain myself correctly - the one on the right as we are looking), yet i do not think this one necessarily won this round. Imo, both horses tried to kick hard the other one: they just cannot stand each other right now, apparently. If, even, someone won this match, i once again, still think it's the horse on the left side of the watcher. I also think that the groomers should have known there's something going on at the stables, since these kind of "feuds" are common to groomers, as far as my experience. I guess those guards have to deal with several different horses, so that they are not following some of them so much closely. Pretty much comprehensible.
It wouldn't surprise me if one or both of them were mares. They can get very stroppy on and around being in season. The tail swishing is gives it away that one was very annoyed.
@@ragland9658 According to "London City Walks," 5-10% are mares. He has a list of all their names. Some of the mares even have feminine names, so it makes no sense for those to be geldings.
1 Horse: I have a plan to get us out guard duty today. 2 Horse: what is it? 1 Horse: just follow my lead. 2 Horse: Ok, but it better be brilliant. 1 Horse trust me.
I wonder what had them upset, they were showing extreme stress by being mouthy the entire time. Perhaps they just disliked each other and this is an ongoing feud.
Muuummm! He kicked me! Well you kicked me! Did not! Did too!! I had this happen to me with my 12h pony stallion and one of his mares. I was caught in the middle of their squabble.
I have a pair of well-matched mares. Full sisters, a year apart... And they'll do that slow-motion cow-kick thing too. They're just messin' with one another. Ill-intended kicks are WAY faster.
I hate to see horses trying to kick each other. Many years ago the stable I worked at lost 2 horses due being kicked and their front legs being broken. Everyone was heartbroken.
So funny! They touched noses and ticked each other off. Like two kids who can't behave for few minutes while we do this official duty. 🤣😂 He kicked me first! I did not! You kicked ME first! You touched my nose!! 🤣😂 Dad, he's touching me!!
I have seen them out in the field and although they can potentially injure each other, you cannot miss the humour of two little boys scrapping!! See White Tiger 333. 😂😂😂
Horses are like people. Some you like and others ...well, nah. Addendum: I thought so, the one on the left looking at them, is a bossy boots. You could tell, just watching.
Yours is the only astute comment on this unnatural and possibly painful practice of making horses stand still for long periods on hard ground with the added weight of a rider. This borders on animal abuse and should stop.
They only do one hour. They are quick to take horses in if they get upset. Years ago when there was a British army based in Germany any horse that didn't settle to doing this job got moved there to become riding horses. Think know maybe they go to the riding school in Windsor.
Right from the start it was obvious that the horse on the left was uncomfortable... The amount of times it was throwing its head is just. And they should have noticed that the horses were getting restless and moved them away from each other... I always get scared when my horse gets less than 3 metres away from another horse because you never know what might happen.
Do the soldiers get an opportunity to ride the horses in an unstructured environment where they can gallop? I assume the horses get exercised regularly. How is that done?

Maybe they were fed up with the crowds of tourists
Patting them on the nose.maybe they thought "not more of it"jean in Australia 😅😮😮😮
Never watched horses in a field, then ….

Horses do this all the time when aggravated
They were winding each other up as soon as they appeared 😂
Like two kids in the back seat during a long car ride!! "He's looking at me! She's touching my space! Stop or I'm telling mom!" "Don't make me pull this car over!" 😂😂😂
Perfect comparison!😂
Lmao!
That is exactly what I thought about 😂
😂
Horses: Just because we work together doesn't mean we have to be friends. 😂
They were definitely interacting with each other. It looked like sibling rivalry. It's the naughty step for those two.😂
The one on to right seemed to be intimidated by the higher (taller) one, poor love
Omg my thought was that they were siblings too lmao 😂
Horse's are clever creatures , they can communicate mentally and this two were certainly having a telepathic argument lol .
Uhh, no.
It's body language. They're the masters. No telepthy here
Acting like brothers! Why can't you two get along! No apple treats for you.
😂
Hilarious! Those two horses were SOOOOO having words to each other before the kicks! One said "You look fat"...That was IT!
I love how the guard stopped looked at him. Grabbed the reigns and the horse just knew he messed up.
Look again. The other one started kicking and the left one got hurt.
The guard comes to get hold of the left horse... Why me... he started it 😂😂😂
2:55 Guard stomps. Horse stomps twice like "Oooh, you think you're better than me?? Look, I can do it too!"
That Horse copied the Guard on foot when he stood to attention..!! 😊😅
I was thinking the horse was saying “ I can do that too!” 🤣🤣🤣
I saw that, he did the same thing.
One horse said to the other," I haven't forgotten that argument we had earlier."😊

Not what before coming out, but even when they are coming back inside from getting off duty

Cute 💘💘💘
That is SO TYPICAL of horses when they get to close to each other and are not happy the other horse is in ‘their space’.
Daaaaaddddd, he’s looking at me😂
Horses have a hierarchy too . 👍
They have a social structure, often in a herd it will be an older mare that is the leader.

2 Horse: what is it?
1 Horse: just follow my lead.
2 Horse: Ok, but it better be brilliant.
