Pevensey Bay to Eastbourne Coastal Management Scheme Coastal Schools Partnership (CSP) project

The Pevensey Bay to Eastbourne Coastal Management Scheme have been working with the Coastal Schools Partnership (CSP), a group of schools and colleges in Eastbourne and surrounding areas.
We have been working with the CSP to:
• identify students’ understanding of flood risk and the challenges and pressures that are facing the coastline in the future, including climate change and sea level rise.
• build students’ awareness around the factors which influence the development and delivery of a resilient and adaptable coastal flood risk management scheme
• gather their thoughts on what they value and would like to see happen along the coastline in the future
In June 2023, we hosted a day with CSP students to visit different areas along the scheme area. At each of these sites, the Project Team gave presentations on coastal processes, climate emergency resilience and the challenge of engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
