Clint speed dating isopods. It's rough.
fun fact: the infamous tongue-eating louse, which is famed for eating the tongue of the fish and replacing it, is actually a type of marine isopod.
That is a fun fact!
Well it sounds like you're gonna HAVE to do a video on this ever so intriguing "marinopod"(see what I did there?😉) Clint, best get on that nugget of entertainment gold...🤗😃👌 Wait that came out sounding sarcastic and it definitely wasn't sorry, heh. I'd truly love to see a video on that particular isopod. I've heard of them before, they sound crazy tubular interesting❣😮👀🙃😲🤓👏
The only known parasite that consumes and then assumes the host's body part
@@dmc3489 it's an Imposter
@@dragonsoul123 And yet still such a great kisser! (threw up in mouth)
You two are such nerds that I now am totally fascinated by isopods. Thanks for broadening my horizons.
What a great, positive and articulate comment. Well said
Best first pet. I've kept a fun colony out in a punch bowl and it's an awesome display. I wish more parents got their kids isopods over betta fish. You should do a pet display tank of these guys.
This was so much fun! I must say, you have excellent taste in isopods, Clint!
Russsss
while these small isopods r cool, in our heart, our favorite is the cute and ginormous giant isopod from the deep ocean.
They are quite rad!
Just imagine the headlines if we can domesticate them!
GIANT OCEAN BUGS WREAKING HAVOC DOWNTOWN!
they have those awesome shiny silver eyes!!
@@superdupergrover9857 A worthy goal for genetic engineers. After they develop more literal versions of the beefsteak tomato and leopard tortoise.
No. Deep sea isopods are the things of my nightmares. And apparently there are people that eat them?! 😐
Clint isopods are like Pokémon gotta catch them all😉, they are all fabulous. Russ is an awesome fella, it’s wonderful seeing you two interact. Thank you ever so much for sharing and best wishes always.
A real isopod tournament would include downhill conglobation, just sayin.
The best bang-for-the-buck is the dairy cow isopods. However I think the Deep Orange armadillidium vulgare is very attractive to me. Dairy cows are very fast breeders, they grow to a decent size, and are low-cost. They are an excellent cleanup crew and secondary or even primary food source.
Perfect combo of creature loving dudes here
Thanks for having Rus on the channel Clint. He's awesome and has helped me with all of my isopod cultures, he is an extremely knowledgeable individual. Your channel has been wonderful in teaching me so many various things. My girlfriend and I are now pursuing an Animal educational business and i just wanted to thank you both for teaching me so much!
Who else thought they were going to be like... competing in little trials and obstacle courses and stuff?
I like the big isopods, the titans and the flavomarginthingy. Mostly because of their big, expressive feeler thingies. Also thank you for not including a taste-test phase of the tournament.
Not even the Oreo crumbles?
They all look great! I think the Oreo crumbles are my favorite, but tell Russ thanks for bringing all of these isopods in! I love seeing videos like this
Russ and Clint are both so cute and educational I love themm
OMG. You're such an adorable dork. This reminds me of being a little kid and seeing isopods in a creek. I'm fairly positive I've seen the yellow dots here where I live in Kentucky.
Be honest, this was really just a video to help you narrow down your buy list for isopods wasn't it! It's what I would've done!
I would love to see Emily of Snake Discovery do a bracket like this! Their isopod collection is quite large now, and still growing!
They're addicted.
I’ve never considered these as pets. But it seems like an interesting and very different hobby.
Poor Russ was worried about cross contamination and even used rubbing alcohol between opening containers. Clint was like “ must seeeeeee them alllllll “
At first I did not at all like isopod but now they look cooler than I thought
This episode along with the "part 1" episode that was posted not long ago, I thought were SO fun! I didn't know ANYTHING about isopods before, and they were actually REALLY interesting to learn about! I LOVE the rubber duckies, I can see why they're so spendy! Russ was AWESOME and the chemistry you two have over your passions for isopods was SO great. It was really fun to watch you two geek out! Thank you for the kick-butt episode y'all, it was a great sprinkling of variety and something new to many of us❣💚🐊🐍🐢🐛🐜🐞🕷🦂🐌🐝💩💛
I just got my first isopods for my snake enclosure, I got dairy cows at an expo, 20 isopods for $15, with tons of babies as well! I've already grown my colony quite a bit and find it more fun than expected, so tempted to get more
Clint should have no problem at all breeding any of these isopods
It’s real isopod hours bois; two isopod videos in a week.
Clint's hand picked favorites: All of them!
This is the content I subbed to Clint for, weird specific and niche animal husbandry and biology videos.
The zebra isopod looks the best in my opinion
4:48 "I always have to look at them again" 🤣
I just wonder, who wouldn't like isopods? Like they're frickin cute and they look like trilobites which is absolutely cool, and they're easy to feed.
if they were about as large as a wiener-dog with the same attidude and affection? Yeah!
People who like faces.

Clint's Reptiles probably has one of my favorite opening themes of all time.
YESSSSSSSSSSSS ! Another collab with Russ!!!!! ♥️💕
I expected to see isopods fighting each other to the death. I’m kinda glad that wasn’t the case.
I love how they look like trilobites but even just the ones that roll up into a ball bring me joy thanks for the video Clint! Have a good week! 😊
Great episode. Love the content. Two of the best CZcamsrs! You forgot a few things though… “Safest isopod to house with reptiles?” (Dwarf White) and “Best isopod as a feeder for reptiles?” (P. pruinosus… Powder Blue, Powder Orange, Oreo Crumbles, White Out) We got into isopods as feeders and safe clean up crew species for young Crested Geckos. We now have our first pet-only species… Zebras. Love them all.
I love my mom, but i wouldn't feed her to my cat
Magic potions with the spray paint marks are insane.
I'm currently breeding powdered blues to go into my bio active when I set it up
Very cool
They're all so cute!
I love the enthusiasm with these videos!
My favourite is definitely the zebras, I would love to have a culture, because I think they are very pretty but isopods in general can be hard to find here in the uk!
unless you just want a woodlouse, plenty of those everywhere ^^
I'm having a bad health day but suddenly it's better now that I can see Clint talk about isopod lads.
This was awesome. I love watching the pain of being forced to choose. But the joy in both your voices over these little guys wins. :)
Stinkin rad man, stinkin rad.
The video we didn't deserve but needed.
great video man
just a couple of guys and their bugs. wholesome
My pick would be the expansus. I never expected to ever have a favourite isopod, but here we are. Thank you!
Video so good I had to watch it twice back to back
Clint's what is the best isopods to handle
Dr. Laidlaw, we humbly suggest two stinking rad videos: green basilisks, and green ameivas.
When I was like 5 or 6 there was this show called rolly polly ollie or something like that, and for some reason I associated these bugs (who were also called rolly pollys) with that show and they were my favorite to play with.
same
Ayyyy perfect timing
This was awesome!
That was an stinking rad video
I have adored isopods ever since I was a very little kid. We only have a few wild species here, but I used to keep them as pets as a kid, in old margarine tubs. My mum hated them, as she doesn’t like invertebrates, so whenever she found my margarine tubs she threw them out into the garden. Man, I need more isopods.
More! 😍😄 This is my favourite content on the entire internet right now!
Thank you for posting friend
This is a great Isopod Battle Royal
This was an amazing isopod geek out!! Clint got so damn happy and damn, Russ knows his stuff!!
I love these last 2 videos, along with your other content, but these have been casual and informative, but with the quick fire at the end there was alot of information on a good few species if you were looking for something specific.
i LOVE my armadillo officinalis
i have sicily greys and reds/orange crush, surprisingly the greys are my favorite of the two so far
(but the reds haven't had babies yet so it could change, the greys had babies immediately, like a few days after i got them, and they're sooooo cute and they don't start out white like the rest do! mine started light grey, and i've heard baby reds start out yellow or light orange!)
they're one of my top favorites for the ones i own, which i honestly wasn't expecting at all
cubaris murinas are the ones that got me into isopods a few years ago (originally as a clean up crew for my snails) and now i have about 18 bins of different isopods
other favorites include venezillo parvus ( i call them seed bead isopods since they conglobate into the size of little 2-4mm seed beads) and armadillidium espanyoli marbelized, which are also small and they have really nice intricate patterns, especially on their little faces! some of mine look almost like they have 2 stars!
there's a bunch of expensive ones i really, really want, but i don't trust myself quite that much with caring for them yet - they're more like ones i would buy with gift money (like if i get a really generous gift card/check from a family member) right now, but i am hoping to get some eventually
i LOVE the spiky ones! i have armadillidium scaberrimum and peraccae, both of which are bumpy, and they're pretty cool too... but man some of the ones with spikes are just....incredible
and i would love some duckies someday
thankfully isopods don't take up as much space as most other pets and they're so easy to care for! they cost pretty much the cost of the original culture, plus the bin (shoeboxes are like $1-3, i got most of mine on buy one get one half off sales) and substrate, moss, bark, and leaves... then just some extra food every now and then, which makes a bin like $6 to set up, including the bark (i buy 1lb of cork bark bits at a time and that's enough for about 10 bins).. maybe a bit more if you like going all out or get bigger bins, but.... pretty much can't be beat, especially if you have a lot of isopods living in one bin
other pets like spiders can have a similar setup, but usually you just keep one in the container, where with isopods you can have 100 or more!
i also got a pound of calcium carbonate that i mix with water and put into little silicone candy molds to dry.....so my isopods get cute little calcium stars and hearts and gummy bears and stuff as a calcium source, that was like $10 and i still have some left after a few years
Love this!
I agree even though I was upset the Zebra was eliminated so soon, the Porcellio flavomarginatus are the best but oh so expensive. Wait I paid $60 for a tarantula sling, who am I kidding, I'll be getting these whenever I have the opportinity.
Great job
it would be awesome if clint did a video breaking down the difference between
'new world' and 'old world'
Thanks!
They missed mu favourite.... Granulated isopods...the pearl morph.
They get big, easy to keep, look so cute, and can roll up into a ball.
Stuff got wild towards the end
Rubber ducky isopods tho!
My favorite is the expansus, I got the orange morph at home
I had Dubia roaches at some point as an insect feeder. They have “pet” potential, alas illegal in some parts.
Yeah here in Ontario they are very illegal, which sucks cause they seem interesting to keep and feed to my beardy
They pretty much are close to being my secondary pets. So cute!
I like the new video ideas!
Ahh big fan of aquariumax pets i have a culture of powder blues
Glad to see you here!
Im with Russ, I want some of each lol. Love the rapid fire questions, I think you guys should do that more often! You two definitely got me into these guys now
That was fun
I traded an addiction to drugs for an addiction to clints videos
I own some clowns and they’re my favorites visually that I have (quite active too). I really want magic potions and zebras someday, they’re gorgeous!
How did you get rid of magic potions so fast? They’re so cool!
Expansus Isopods look like the Pokémon Anorinth btw :)
trust me, you need The Lemon Blue in your life, that isopod is increadible !!!
Y'all are the sauce
just rewatched your Top 5 Insect Feeders and I realized that you may not know about cave crickets since they do not chirp
Good choice btw. 🐍💜
Thank you!
Next do an isopod video showcasing the various morphs and varieties found in Vulgare, Maculatum, scaber, etc!
wow isopodes are so cute
Oh Yeah!!!
I've been hunting isopods in ny back yard with my kids. Its amazing how many different morphs I see. Our toads love them too
Awesome.
I love isopods!! I only have two species, but I’ll be getting more soon.
Awsome
Man, how did I miss this video?
Clint is me trying to figure out what my favorite jellyfish or slug/snail is. It's so hard…! For these guys, I'm torn between the Expansus and Titan… I like when they get big lol and the Expansus has such a pretty skirt, while the Titan has a super cute alien face… aaaaaaa I love them all tho!!! Such fantastic critters!!!!
Dat expanses tho I can’t argue with you on that
Can you please do a care video about basilisk lizards because I a thinking about getting one and you care guys are amazing
Wow didn't know there were so many
All losing isopods were fed to a beardy. There can be only one!
You should do a Roly Poll of which your followers/patrons think is their favorite.
That's a great idea!
Clint it would be great if you could talk about the petco situation
DO THIS WITH SNAKES PLZZZZ!!
I think my favorites are percellio expansus and porcellio flavomarginatus
The only thing better than isopod content is frog content... Please Clint, more frog content.
Great video as always. I have a question that doesn't to do with isopods, but do you know anything about deep heat emitters. Thank you. 🐍
