Season 2, Episode 24
If anyone is wondering
Yes I was wondering that. Thanks. Sometimes whoever posts something like this is kind enough to put the source in the description.
After a former patient shoots House, House awakens to find the shooter in the next bed. He also finds that he's been given an experimental treatment that has eliminated his leg pain, but may have also affected his mind. Meanwhile, the team tries to treat a patient whose test results keep coming up negative even as his bizarre array of symptoms continue to get worse. As the shooter continues to confront him about his seemingly diminishing mental skills and lack of humility, House figures that something is seriously wrong and that must solve the puzzle posed by the other patient in order to get things back to normal.
@@monkeyman3847The whole episode was a hallucination except the shooting. Also this is from Wikipedia
not an experimental treatment but ketamine,
he does take an experimental treatment later in the series but the thing causes his leg to develop three tumors that he removes with a scalpel in his bathtub
except... no it's not... this is all dream he is having 5 seconds after being shot. He hasnt even had surgery to remove the bullet when this all happening.
Yo figuring out that your hallucinating while hallucinating is cool asf you gotta be smart asf to do that
Nah not really, if youre schizophrenic, experience paychosis etc etc for extended periods of time you can eventually tell, sometimes they go away sometimes theyre still there even though you have acknowledge it
Same thing happens with dreams. Sometimes new dreams reference old ones, and strangely the old ones can be remembered within the dream. It's very odd....
Ive done that myself many times, sometimes giving the power to control the dream.. weird huh@jdp3578
While watching this, I thought this was one of the last eps of House where we find out the whole show was him hallucinating (treating patients), but he's a patient himself in the hospital... and his 'colleagues' are his doctors, and his 'patients' are the people he meets/ sees in the hospital. Then I read the comments...
Nah, that's not how house md ends. The True end has more holes in the legs and more fire
@@Latzz but it turns out it wasnt true and alfred was just trying to stop him from being batman

House really got stuck in an inception.
@@tenshironobunaga7347"in an inception" but first let me get pressed and say paprika
Watching Hugh Laurie act like a man losing his marbles is cinematic poetry.
Quick way to check if you're dreaming is counting your fingers or checking the time. Much like early AI image generators, your brain struggles with precise details and you will find a weird number of fingers or a time that makes no sense
Yeah, if you get any other number than the ussual 12 fingers, that is good sign that you are hallucinating.
Also if you try to find a time or a clock you won’t. It while dreaming.
This doesn’t work, neither does the “no phones or books” myth. You can read in dreams if you can read irl, and phones and computers still exist.
The real tell is way more subtle. Door hinges. Do the doors have hinges and do they open the same way consistently? The brain does forget small details, but not typically something so integral like your own fingers. Tiny things which you wouldn’t otherwise care about.
i just stick my finger through my hand in my palm and it goes through when im dreaming.
Tbh that's really impressive to get that self aware in a hallucination
my man was hallucinating a hallucination and still knew it, house is one of the best
Alvin Olinsky’s early villain days.
I like how his eyes dialate when he is hallucinating
This was followed by an episode I would have expected to see as the series finale. Instead this was just the last episode of season 2. The patient, the one under the care of team House, had a heavily swollen tongue. As the episode progresses, more parts get swollen until they try an experimental surgery. House botches the surgery by accident and learns that everything that happened after the gunshots was all in his mind.
After this episode House changed and started to become more empathetic, I never forgave Cully and the others for making him go back to abusing
the whole thing was a hallucination, everything after he got shot was a hallucination. he wakes up by killing his patient, shocking his brain back awake. when he wakes up he's being rushed into surgery for the 2 gunshot wounds, one in his side, the other hitting the side of his neck, severing the carotid artery. blood loss caused the hallucinations
For anyone wondering… After he was shot at the beginning of this episode, House started hallucinating. It was only at the ending you discover that while House was being taken to surgery right after he was shot, he was hallucinating the entire time in which his mind figured out how to stop his leg pain. This means throughout the entire episode literally right after he was shot, none of which you watched actually happened. It was his mind inceptioning itself to problem solve his own leg pain issue. This episode is one of the best episodes of House and gives you more of an in-depth view of how House’s mind works and how he is able to figure things out and problem solve.
I'm a little confused because I'm sure his leg still hurts after this episode.
@@DGneoseeker1 yes and no. The treatment did work, but only temporarily. House explains that the treatment only had a 50/50 shot of permanently solving his leg pain issue and could only be done once. He was pain free for awhile after this episode. However, his leg pain eventually came back after a few episodes meaning House unfortunately fell into the 50 percentile where the treatment was only temporary.
@@andrewbell7996 or the director thinks a limping House with a cane is more memorable 😅😅

Bro I feel like he’s a real like Rick from Rick and Morty 😂
Bro house knowing when he’s hallucinating it just gives me Batman vibes I fucking love it ❤
The twist is that after getting shot, this whole coma and deep conversation with the shooter was all a hallucination, similar to the concept of dreams inside dreams in inception.
So he basically hallucinated a whole case, a philosophical conversation with the shooter, and blackouts+hallucinations due to an extra surgery done to alleviate his pain,
all while being transported to the OR right after getting shot.
He asks for the extra treatment and it removed his leg pain for a while, letting him run around with no cane for one or two episodes.
Pretty cool!
Finny thing was is that all of it was him hallucinating. Amazing episode
That happens to me with dreams. I wake up from a creepy dream, get ready, go to work, realize im late and getting fired, then wake up again but make it to work on time.
Honestly, this was the most confusing episode of the series
But it portrays hallucinations like that perfectly
There is no particular transition between real and hallucination, only when the hallucination ends.
Amazing writing.

This episode confused the hell out of me years ago recently rewatched the series and it still confuses me.
Basically everything is an hallucination while he was in a coma after getting shot. None of this is real and it’s a way of his mind telling him to tell the doctors to use ketamine during his surgery to fix his leg pain. Just shows how smart house is

It's all a hallucination. Not just the ones he notices, but his time in his room, the conversations with the gunner (because they wouldn't put the shooter in the same room as the guy he shot), the case he was working on, his treatments. None of them ever happened. Only by killing his patient, going against what he could rationalize, was he finally able to wake up and ask for a ketamine treatment that got him walking right again.

That’s some fucking Rick Sanchez type shit right there.
Fun fact: the guy next to him on the bed, also a hallucination, he only gets out of the hallucination when he goes into an operating room and kills a patient with a machine, only to wake up in the ER as he is rushed in with a bullet still in his body, the entire episode happens in the span of a few minutes.

Your brain when you start to get self conscious when you're younger:
Me when I try to wake up in the morning
2 things:
1) I remember vividly as a kid having one specific dream inside of a dream where it took me what felt like hours only to “wake up” and be in the same scenario but slightly different in it’s course; more specifically similar to how I would have went about my daily life at the time. After noticing something off quite exactly how House did that’s when I consciously woke up
2) House broke Tsukuyomj
Notice how House through sarcasm unwittingly put up Cameron for Sacrifice??
