This might be one of the best release videos I’ve seen. He conveys well and his articulation and delivery is impeccable
i agree... but uh... what is supernate and pronate?
Hey Dice, it really is the best video I've ever seen on the release! Fantastic and very well explained. Thanks Jonathan🙂
Wow very well explained
I agree...best I've seen
@@bermchasin They are refer to the relative hand/palm positions to the body. Supination = thumb points outside of the body, Pronation = thumb points toward the body
The best, clearest and most straightforward explanation of releasing the club I've ever seen..
WHY DIDN’T ANYONE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME WHEN I STARTED PLAYING GOLF?????
I’ve had quite a few lessons in my life and have specifically asked at times how the club should be released and this is the first time anyone’s ever explained it simply and clearly!
Jonathan, thanks for a great video! Can’t wait to try this out!
Been trying for 2 years now to make my golf swing look more pro like. Although I'm older, 67, I still hit the ball well with compression, but not consistent enough. I've been comparing my swing almost frame for frame against all the pros and teachers/coaches, and every frame looks just about identical up until after contact. My finish was has been so awful, I hater looking at it. I pretty much was being taught how to get my swing correct right up until contact and was even told "we have to work on that finish". I was doing exactly as you mentioned with the arm out straight after contact, keeping trail wrist unreleased at contact and continuing with club aimed at the target up until horizontal. But that finish looked awful.
So I've been looking hard to find the right video that will teach me how to finish. I found a great explanation yesterday before watching this video explaining how to turn the lead forearm facing up after rolling the past contact. (hope I explained that right). Once I tried it, I realized what I was missing in my finish from contact to follow through. Very relaxing, and really no tension at all in any part of the body. My back has never been happier. I wished I was taught this during my lessons a while ago. It would have made things so much easier and faster to learn the complete swing.
One of the biggest problems I observed while trying the correct video to learn from is how the explanation is presented. That is so important to keep it simple yet concise with the proper steps and in the right order for the average golfer to learn from. Too many go off on tangents trying to explain a simple process and giving a simple drill that hits the point precisely. This video explained every part of why my lead arm was bending after contact and why my finish look terrible. This only the second video I've seen explaining why so many amateurs have a chicken wind type finish who otherwise have a decent swing. I watching this channel and subscribing to see what else I've been searching for.
Excellent video. I work on this all the time; it is difficult with today's light weight clubs. The heavier high D, low E swing weight clubs make this really easy to accomplish. Cheers!
I just had a lesson from my pro about this and was looking for a reminder video so I remember what I'm meant to be practicing, and this is perfect and so clearly explained.
I was taught this by the club pro I worked for about 38 yrs ago in college. Not sure why I stopped this move. Have a few lessons over the past 10 yrs with other pros and they all told me this was wrong and I needed to use my body to release. They said “stop rotating your firearms”.
I went back to this 2 weeks ago and my iron shots have more ball speed (added approx 6-8mph), more height and a better decent angle.
Great video!!!
Best lesson I’ve received in 50 years.
Hey JKM, I’m a golfer in my mid 30s returning after a 10 year hiatus. I came back to a deteriorated golf swing with constant slices and everything just felt off, despite consulting various CZcams “golf instructors”.
I found your channel 3 days ago and have been following along, practicing in the living room in front of the tv lol. I watched your in-to-out series last night, and within a single hour and a half practice session today at the range, I 100% fixed my slice and re-discovered how to hit a draw. Thank you so much for your time and effort in creating these videos. You have, hands down, the best golf instructional videos on CZcams.
Literally me but 5 months after this comment + bad car accident. But just came back after many years. Used to be pretty decent. Long story short im pretty much having to re-learn my entire swing everything.
I wish I’ve seen this channel 20 year ago. I took a few lessons from “local pros” at the nearby golf courses. When CZcams started getting popular I must have watched at least 5 different golf instruction channels and I would rank them from below average to not bad. Now I’ll have to say this channel is the best I’ve seen. Excellent.
Try Danny Maude’s videos, as well. 👍🏻
how did you like the lessons from the pros? Were they engaged, and trying to make you better?
Watched a few of your videos tonight and i think you are brilliant at explaining things clearly! Feeling confident about going to the range tomorrow and hitting balls better! Keep up the good work!
I was told for years that going L to L was outdated. And all those years I believed it, to my detriment. I've never had more success squaring the club than going L to L. Great video.
Look up the article in Golf Digest (Jan 1985) by Tom Kite about forgetting the late release. He talks about this exact drill & method. 😀😀😀👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Such a refreshing channel, none of that "stop this" and " magic trick to add 50 yards" crap. This breaks it down and explains what you should do in easy to understand terms. Loving this!!!
Agreed! Jonathans delivery is spot on and the information imparted is great. Keep up the great work!
I have been researching golf lessons for a long time, but I recognize that Jonathan Kim-Moss is undoubtedly one of the best, because he explains all the movements and consequences in detail. I had to reside in Portugal to be able to receive some classes.
By far this information is valuable for all types of golfers! Thanks for breaking things down vs other popular videos that just demonstrate "hit it like this".
This is the best release video I have ever seen, very clearly explain and easy to understand.
This class is one of the best that I’ve seen on CZcams. Excellent!
Finally explained properly and truly needed in the swing! Great job young man.
This is super helpful. I've never seen anyone explain the swing and release this clearly before.
This is hands down the best RELEASE VIDEO I have seen and I have been playing golf and watching videos for 30 years. This attention to detail is impeccable for that wrist action that I always seems to struggle with when I'm away from golf for 3 months or so.
Love the bio mechanics terminology. Clear and precise. Practice drills are helping me. Thank you.
This is one of the best golf instructional videos I've seen. Its so simple, but effective.
Excellant explanation of releasing the club. Seems like the weight of the club head should facilitate the release. I suspect that oftentimes it doesn’t because of 2 things: 1) We (amateurs) instinctively feel as though we need to help the ball up into the air (which causes flipping as opposed to releasing) and; 2) We think that releasing the club will send the ball drastically to the left so our instinct is to hold the club head from releasing. Your thoughts Jonathan?
That was fabulous! Thank you for the detailed explanation. No one has ever broken it down this way for me.
What an incredible explanation of the release. Makes so much sense, thank you so much
Absolutely amazing teacher. Im blown away at how in depth and how perfect your explanation was. Love the videos 100%!!
Jonathan this is the best drill for release I have seen. It’s brilliantly explained and broken down into two great drills and fixes. I look forward to your videos they are excellent I’d love to do a day’s coaching with you 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Very well explained I gotta say. The most difficult part of learning golf is having someone who expresses efficiently and clearly the drills. U did a great job!
One of the best tips and lessons I’ve seen. Time to put it to practice. Saved to my favorite lessons. Thanks
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! After so many CZcams videos, finally someone breaking down the swing accurately. I've been struggling with my follow through as I tend to chicken wing my left arm (lead arm). I've been trying to mentally tell my arms to twist after impact but it's been difficult. Your video has definitely helped.
Adjusting my swings again after watching your video, my shots are terrible at the moment (due to the swing change) but man thank you thank you!
Subscribed to your channel!
This is the one that I am looking for and he explained it loud and clear...Now I know the timing from impact to closing the club..Thank you..
Awesome, waiting on this video. You are one of the absolute best on CZcams. Thank you taking time to share, explain and demonstrate. Many thanks
Dude you broke it down better then anybody I’ve seen on CZcams, thank you! New sub!!
An excellent video that shows, very clearly, some of the common mistakes that we amateur golfers make in our swings. This one helped me understand why I'm not getting the real clubhead speed that I need in order to hit my irons better/further. Very helpful with a good teaching style. Thanks
This has to be the best definition of a release I’ve ever seen. Thank You so much. Step out back tried the drill and it fit me like a fine tailored suit
This is by far the best explenation I have ever seen on youtube for releasing the club. Awesome!!!
Excellent demonstration of release problems with clear drills and instruction to improve. Thanks
You’re a great teacher mate. Moved overseas 8 years ago and have finally got my golf going again! My swing needs tweaking and your videos are really top draw.
Best and clearest instructions on all your videos. Thank You
I've struggled with this exact problem for years... Couldn't figure out how to properly generate more clubhead speed. This explanation and the drills are fantastic. Can't wait to hit the range in the morning. Great video!
This is absolutely the best instruction ever on how to release the club. So we’ll described and extremely easy to understand.
You are a great instructor.
One aspect we need is timing on aspects / techniques that you explain. THANK YOU JKM
Outstanding. I’ve watched hundreds of videos on release and straight arms and never seen a demonstration like this. I can’t wait to try this tomorrow. I’ve been struggling with that dreaded chicken wing for years. Thank you.
The best clear instructions with explanations and actual demonstrations, Thanks JKM
It IS the best video on the release of the club that I have seen. I have been using the L-to-L drill for myself and my students fro a long time, but this is the best explanation of the drill that I have experienced. Thanks, Jonathan!
Outstanding young man. Great teaching of a fluid and dynamic swing.
Thank you Jonathon. i am a beginner at 63yrs old. The way you explain and relay what you are trying to teach me and everyone else who watches your video's is amazing. Thank you for improving my game.
You're very welcome!
I’ve been working on this specifically for weeks now and no matter how many videos I watched I still feel I’m struggling understanding it but this made a lot of sense to me I have to try it tomorrow
I've been struggling with my follow through by doing the first thing you mention! This really helped! Thanks so much!
Keeping the head down and behind the ball until well after impact allows the 2 very important moves highlighted in the video to happen. Pronation and supination of the forearms and radial deviation of the wrists. Freddie Couples does this as well as anyone and is one of the reasons his swing looks so smooth and effortless.
Really loved the explanation of the follow through in a way I've never heard using the lead thimb. Well done!
Yes sir this is my next step. Jonathan you are killing it on here. Thank you keep them coming. 🙌🏼🙌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👊🏼💪🏼🤘🏼🤙🏼
I favorited this video about a year ago when I first started playing and I had no idea what you were talking about but I knew at some point it would be helpful. Well i just came back and watched it again and my god this is probably the single most helpful lesson I’ve ever seen. The fix for the chicken wing just solved so many issues I was having.
Fabulous lesson!!! Love the drills and your explanation and direction is concise and clear.
This is the most helpful tip to my slice so far. And the L to L it the best warmup swing for me so far!!!
Just an excellent explanation of the mechanics of the release, for sure one of the best out there.
This video is AWESOME! Easy to understand and execute!
The drills and solutions are exemplary!
I have watched so many golf videos in my 11 years of golfing that I decided not to watch anymore videos and just go out and use my right brain to just hit the ball, but I came across you for the first time and this video makes so much sense, and it is exactly where I need help. I haven't tried it yet, but being the athlete that I am, I'm sure the tips in this video will help me tremendously my next practice session. Thank you, and I did subscribe to this channel.
Very well explained, to keep it simple, it is an art, and your démo are really appropriate. Top world instruction Jonathan. One of the best, BRAVO
This is one of the best videos I have seen. I will definitely be following the instructions on the video and hope for some improvement. Thank you J.K.
Yes, explained this clearly and visually. Consistent ball-striking is a big problem of mine. Plan to practice these two drills. Thx.
Simple, precise and smart! Great job
you are so patient and consistent. well done mate.
I understood this perfectly! Very clearly explained - Can't wait to see the result on the course.
Well done mate, super clear explanation and examples! Keep the good work up and I am sure this channel will explode in no time!
Very good explanation thank you. I’m a big believer of acceleration and deceleration of the hands to get the energy into the clubhead. I actually think about stopping the hands out in front of me as part of my normal swing, it’s always been more than just a drill for me :)
Glad tohave found your tutorials. You have a definite talent for teaching! Thanks
Watching this video earlier would have saved me a lot of headache in trying to find out what I was doing wrong. Thank you so much.
Thanks for this video Jonathan. I think I have this problem from time to time. Your explanation and drills look like something I will really benefit from. I’ll give them a try at the range tomorrow. Thank you!!
You are really gifted for teaching. You explained the concept very well. Thanks.
Absolutely imperative for squaring club face, solid contact and max distance. Well done 👍........
Glad to see you back with the lessons.
Love your videos they give fantastic detail on the mistakes and how to correct them in practice. Wish they were there 20 years ago when I first took an interest in golf… by now I would have been a scratch golfer.
Great Teacher! Super explanations, and demos!
Great Video, you really can see the difference in speed using your arms and hands compared to the body. I am a Senior golfer and I think this video is exactly what I needed to increase speed and distance.
You are amazing. I've only been playing for 8 months but have learned so much from you. At 53, I broke 90 today and shot an 88 because of you and I'm still learning and practicing every day. Thank You for everything.
Great to hear! That’s awesome
This was really great. I never even really think about my release, but the next time at the range I'm going to work on the fundamentals you are showing here.
I freaking love this video 👏🏽 finally an instructor that shows and explains this in great detailed. No instructor on you tube has been able to perfectly show this in sequence the way you have.
I agree. I hit my 7 iron 180 yds today. I’m generally in the 160’s. I noticed that I whipped through the ball in this exact motion. I searched youtube high and low for some details and found myself back here, yet again. This is a game changer for club head speed.
I take that back. Mike Malaska goes into detail as well!!
I found this invaluable. I have the utmost respect for this young man who invests his time to give us what we need. I am so afraid to do these exercises because of my tendency to go low and left. Anyway I trust him and will see what happens after some practice.
I struggled with my follow thru since I started playing. Watched videos on the follow thru but never worked for me. You nailed it with the explanation of Ulnar Deviation. Thats exactly what I do. Then you hit me with gold when you said "player doesn't know how to accelerate the opposite end of the club". I never thought of getting the clubhead to move faster than the handle. Tried it at the range yesterday and my follow thru was automatic instead of me trying to force it. Thanks. You just changed my game in this valuable video. Been playing since 90's too and everyone I play with tells me that my swing stops as soon as I contact the ball and I need to just let it go. I just never knew how till now. Thank You!!!!
This guy is very good. This vid changed my swing.
Are you still playing well?
@Stackin Paper: It was 6:30pm where I am and had to race down to my local club to try this 😂 For the first time in 10years of playing golf regularly I freakin end up finishing my swing like a normal person. 😅 That’s all I wanted to do. Your comment and your donation made me think something actually did work for someone. This young guy is good 👍
@@Will-nb8qk Yes I am. This was truly a game changer. This video along with proper footwork in this video makes you strike the ball like a pro. czcams.com/video/Hbxtlxx0yIs/video.html
I was practicing on the grass at a local range last week. A PGA instructor was teaching a class to the left of me (behind). I had my headphones on and practicing on my irons. I looked up between irons and noticed the entire class and instructor was watching me. He started saying something so I took off my headphones. He said "Thank you for letting us watch you swing. I'm telling my class if you want to swing well just do what he does" That right there confirmed I'm releasing the club the right way!
@@Will-nb8qk check this video out too. It tells you the proper foot work. Combine it with this release video. czcams.com/video/Hbxtlxx0yIs/video.html
I have found this video incredibly helpful with my driver. I find that I try to "steer" the club or ball and by doing so, don't release properly and the slice the heck out of it on occasion. Thanks for the tips!!
Great video. Best instruction on the release I've seen. Thank you
Excellent video. One of the best golf lesson I have ever had
Best explanation for squaring club face through impact.
Faldo explain this well in 98 book the Winning Formula
Love your series
You broke this movement down so expertly and do a great a job with introducing the drills. Instead of just saying "stop doing this" you introduce a drill to help feel what the player is doing wrong and how to correct it. Thanks I can't wait to try it!
exactly , this is the best video and the truth about the hand and wrist release that almost not one is revealing , Jonathan you are a great master teacher , the people obsessed with ben hogan body release forgot that hogan did had wrist hinge , and no one dared to get into this major move . great job great mastery Jon !
Great videos. I took my daughter out and applied another video of yours where you took half backswing and hit it hard and stopped fast post impact. This one really helped ball striking by syncing up arms and body. Sill have to work this one in as well because the misses are pushes out to right.
You sure have a way of making me understand what I have NOT been doing correct on release… I will like, follow and subscribe simply on your exquisite explanation!
One of the best golf tip youtube videos out there, if not the best.
I love the clarity of the fault and the solution. Great video. Got my Subscription.
Thank you for the clear explanation and demonstration. First time I see it on a golf tutorial. I like what you do! 🙂
I’ve been trying to figure out for months why I chicken wing and my arms collapse on impact ! This is the best video I’ve seen by far ! I totally get it now ! Thanks mate off to the range 🙏🙏🙏
I really do like your instruction as its very easy to listen to and to understand. Excellent from you.
Great video! Really good breakdown of all the components in a simple way!
Fantastic video on release. I now have a much better understanding for this 76 year old 16 Handicap
Excellent explanation. Better than anything on CZcams
as a beginner , this video is the best solution for me, on my way to the range now and try it. thanks.
Great instructor this young man. Great demonstration, Keep up the great work. Can't wait to get out on the range now to try-out.
Duuuuuude, that thumb drill is MONEY. I have been working hard to stop getting over the top and I have developed a bad habit of blocking it right in doing so. The thumb drill just helped me tremendously. I was consistently pounding the ball on my simulator for the past 20 minutes. Love it.
