GameMaker is Free for general use. You may purchase a commercial licence to sell and distribute your games en masse if you like - See the Get page for GameMaker Professional. Enterprise subscriptions are available for console developers.

Free for non-commercial use 😅, we've chosen Godot because it's free for any purpose. Our goal is to make money from creating games, as that's the ultimate purpose of game development.
So is Godot and it is way more powerful.
I'm not sure how godot is more powerful.
GM has been proven to offer better tools, support, and resources when making a game. Plus, it's pretty well optimized.
@@gamedevwithmatt9686 im a godot meatrider (though i just dont mindlessly worhsip it all of the time), and ill put my take, its definitely NOT more powerful than GMS ... BUT, if you want to actually make a commercial product, godot is great for the independent developer, given that its completely free with no licences, and still is a very well designed tool for developers, with very easy to understand ui and language and an ever expanding community. it also has way better support 3d games, with many of that dimension being made on the engine already. though GMS has many merits itself, and is probably way better optimized than godot, and is the magic machine behind many amazing games, with pizza tower being a great recent example.
