Thanks to my Mommy who spent the time to teach me how she makes leche flan! Her favorite is the coffee leche flan, but in this video we also used lemon zest and vanilla.
Making Filipino leche flan has always intimidated me, which is why I asked my mom to guest star on this episode! Apparently, I used to eat a lot of leche flan as a child in the Philippines.
If you want me to make a dairy-free (or even, vegan) version of leche flan, let me know in the comments below!
Let me know in the comments if you've made this recipe!

Probably my favourite Filipino dessert of all time! I love my moms recipe...takes me back to when I was a kid. She doesn't have the recipe anymore. You've inspired me to try your version! Love your energy and you're fun to watch. Keep it up!

    Coconut Macroons
    4 egg whites
    4 cups sweetened shredded coconut
    Dash of salt
1 tsp of vanilla (I want to try with pandan)
    Reheat oven 350°f
Scoop on to parchment lined baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 mins or until golden brown. Let cool and enjoy.
Variant: add half a maraschino cherry to top of cookie before baking.

Thanks for the video. Family is really enjoying watching your videos. Definitely going to try adding some coffee flavor next time I make flan. If you haven't already, you should also try sous vide leche flan. Some of the smoothest and creamiest flan if that's how you like it. Not so airy since it's purely yolks.

Thanks for watching! Glad I can bring some enjoyment to you and your family. I gotta get a sous vide first!

    Hello Jeanelle Eats:
    Great video cooking channel :)
After watching this video, a few thoughts, please consider permanently adding your mom as co-host
    here's why:
1-she's beautiful (inside and out) and charming and knowledgeable about cooking, beauty-skin products and differences between the U.S. and Philippines health care system
2-I hear she's popular with a certain segment of your viewership and would help drive up ratings/views
3-According The Baby Yoda: he's a big fan on your mom... "i have spoken"
4- The American people have spoken :)
    Thanks
    your fans :)

Why are the recipes for Leche flan different from others in terms of the eggs. What if we used all yolks, what happens? Some recipes call for less eggs but uses same full size cans.

    • @Jeanelleats
      @Jeanelleats  Před 4 lety

It really is your own preference! More yolks makes it creamier and thicker. Adding egg whites will make it lighter.

    Why is my flan lumpy?
The texture of my flan is not smooth but lumpy with many tiny holes/ flaws: If the surface is lumpy: the eggs may have been overbeaten or folded too much, thus too many air bubbles are created in the mixture during the process. During baking, these air bubbles will rise onto the surface, making it lumpy.
