    I swear I didn’t make this video to talk about the 4th Gundam Mk.II
    Disclaimer: Due to recent developments surrounding a certain virus, I feel the need to point out that my joke about the Dutch invading Belgium was not meant as a jab at the current situation. This video has been in the works for over a month, including the joke. It’s simply unfortunate that my joke now holds some truth.
    (For most people reading this: The Netherlands are currently in lockdown, leading to many Dutch people going to Belgium to shop instead. And yes, our newspapers are printing things like “Dutch/Orange Invasion” en masse, hence my disclaimer)

    What always struck me as hilariously ironic is how Gundam was the first real robot show, meaning the mecha are just another piece of military vehicle, but in real life the production version of any tank, airplane, etc. is alwags better than their prototypes. Victory is the first and only time in the series that a Gundam was genuinely mass produced and better as a mass production model than as a prototype.

      In Gundam they do stuff a little backward. Instead of iterating on a base design, they make the best possible unit and work backwards from there to mass produce it, which doesn’t necessarily make sense in the real world. You’d want to put the best stuff on your production units as well.
      In real life, the gundam would be impossible to use that extensively due to the lack of spare parts and other logistical issues in running the thing. Plus the idea of one unit coming out on top in multiple enemy engagements where it’s completely outnumbered head to head also makes no sense.

      @@davidvasquez08 G-Reco takes place during the "Regild Century" era, which is a relative far future to the Universal Century era (the main Gundam timeline). More specifically, the events of the G-Reco series take place in the year 1014 of the Regild Century timeline.
      There is some debate as to whether the Regild Century era occurs before or after the Correct Century era (the timeline for Turn-A Gundam). This is relevant because animated works have pointed to the Correct Century era being a point at which all Gundam timelines (at least, all of the ones produced prior to the production of Turn-A Gundam) converge.
      Additionally, one recent animated work, "Light of Life: Chronicle U.C." indicates that the multiple eras/timelines are the result of a cyclic near-extinction event in which the Turn-A Gundam seemingly spontaneously activates, resets civilization to an essentially pre-industrial state by using its Moonlight Butterfly system to destroy all modern high technology, and then reburies itself, leaving the survivors and their descendants to rebuild over the course of centuries/millennia (including eventually redeveloping variations of MS technology) before doing it again.

    Awesome video, dude! One quick correction, though: according to their profiles at MAHQ, the RX-78-2 and RX-78-3 were definitely NOT upgraded RX-78-1s. The RX-78-2 had 3 units produced; the two not piloted by Amuro Ray were destroyed during Char's attack on Side 7. Their remains were loaded onto White Base, and after it reached Jaburo, they were cobbled together into the RX-78-3.

    • @daitoray9876
      @daitoray9876 Před 2 lety +1

      Actually, they were. In addition, the Rx-78-1 and Rx-78-3 were not built from destroyed units. The Rx-78-1 was probably still in its disassembled parts form since one of the Zeon soldiers thought that the Gundam was a ton of unassembled parts. The Rx-78-3 is probably the same story but it appears to also be used as replacements for the Gundam if it was damaged really badly.
