Totally! I can see why you see it that way. I do believe however that Baden might have had a small amount of resentment towards OG cake which was mostly due to disappointment rather than hatred.
i swear cale and his children are the ones who keeps me sane from punching my laptop because of stress of seeing cale just randomly almost dying or coughing out blood

That’s true but in the beginning, it wasn’t like that. since the original Cale was so badly behaved, his relationship was neither friendly nor antagonistic towards the original Cale but he hold a small resentment towards him.His personality and relationship towards Cale changes after Kim Rok Soo affects the course of the original novel.

Novel spoilers:
I’m pretty sure both Basen and Violan knew what Og!Cale was doing, since it was mentioned (chapter 656) that no matter how much their relatives wanted to kick Og!Cale out, they wouldn’t budge; Especially after the pep talk they did. If anything, Lily has the highest chance of holding a resentment with Og!Cale since the only Cale she met was the trashy distant one.
As much as holding resentment and disappointment for Og!Cale is really likely for Basen, he didn’t, as shown in chapter 9; everyone wanted Basen to act as the family successor, and yet he wanted Cale to act as the family representative (which is the heir’s job) in visiting the Capital, where he can literally meet the crown prince and form more connections.
Basen was most likely a submissive child growing up, maybe even timid(since it was implied that he didn’t fight back against the people mocking and bullying him), either way, he didn’t naturally think of himself as having Henitsue blood. Then the prep talked happened from Og!Cale then Og!Cale turned trashy then Basen turned into the unofficial successor- All these events happening, *in my opinion* , Basen had a lower self esteem than most people think and thought of himself as stealing Cale’s birth right. Hell, he didn’t want the position even when Krs|Cale bluntly told him that he didn’t want it and asked for time. Disappointment? Maybe. But I think it’s more of a mixed feeling, like Cale thought, Basen probably did think of Og!Cale as a rather difficult person, but that’s because of the amount of distance that Og!Cale put between himself and his family and his trashy behavior. But moreover, in my head canon of Violan and Basen noticing Og!Cale’s motives, Basen probably felt grateful yet guilty about what Og!Cale did

Yes true the original cake acted like a trash so to elevate his step family’s statues in the eye of the nobilities however original Basen did hold a very small amount of anger towards Cale(? I don’t think I’m using the right words lol) he didn’t despise him by any means but was sad cause he was disappointed in his older brother and overall just ignored him. I was trying to show that disappointment in the reaction video but for some reason it came of as hate 😭 he didn’t know his brother was acting like trash to protect them but he did know that it was strange. Countess however definitely knew Cale was not acting like who truly is. She is just that smart 😅
