@@eitanberechman2787 last time I flew Lufthansa was in 2018 JFK-MUC on their A340-600. Between first time and last time I loved flying them. Hoping to catch their A340-300 before they leave the fleet.
You are so right about FRA. I’ve connected several times there, and it is always a horror show: no available gate, no wheelchairs, no clear directions for staying in secure areas when moving between terminals, filthy toilets (worse than any airport, and I’ve been to dozens). Munich is far far better. And people have the nerve to complain about Atlanta or Detroit, which are models of convenience compared to FRA.
To be honest I never understand why there’s so much hate on FRA. It’s my home airport and if you get to know the airport really well it’s a really convenient and tidy airport and no where close as bad compared to Heathrow or CDG. The only big disadvantage where I’d agree on is the amount of delays of flights and baggage receiving.
Sat in 16c on this exact flight (in the tiny economy class section right behind business class and in front of premium eco). Together with 16H, best value on the plane, you can stretch your legs through the curtain into the business class and are the first economy seat to leave the plane recommend 10/10 and will always try to book this seat when available
I'm flying with lufthansa in two days and I am binge-watching flight report videos hoping someone will leave a nice review. But no. This company seems hopeless. Paying for extra snack, seriously ? No menu option ? A cold breakfast ? Crew ghosting passengers ? What the actual F**k ? I used to complain about Air France, but compared to lufthansa, they are gold. Crew comes regurlarly to serve you water and snacks, and you one meal with two options and one hot breakfast.
@@oliverschmitz1721 In terms of food, it wasn't as bad as I expected and I ended up eating business class menu because they ran out of economy menu anyway. So I had salmon with steam vegetables. There were options, you are right, and I think it was quite decent, but breakfast was a joke. I still don't know what was in that sandwich, I just ate it because I was hungry. For the rest…snacks in-between meals were not included, of course (which I think is total BS if you fly for more than 7 hours - my flight was like 13 hours), screens hardly working, movie selection really limited, earphones crappy, seats just okay. I flew back with All Nippon Airlines, and it felt so luxurious in comparison (although I am not recovering from the fact I was served pancakes with fries and brocoli for breakfast)!
I flew from MUC to LAX in 2017 too. In May. I can say that it was very good back then with Lufthansa. The showed literally every 45 minutes to offer drinks and some food and everything. I enjoyed it very much I have to say. So sad that it changed like that.
Yes. Back then, Lufthansa was an amazing airline, even offering free hot drinks at the gate for all passengers at their hubs in Munich and Frankfurt. Sadly, they went down the drain.
Lufthansa: Decreasing service, increasing prices. There is no longer any reason for booking this airline if there are other options. I am wondering what the attendants are doing the whole flight when they are not present. Nothing? Ignoring the service button is really poor.
The service and catering of Lufthansa economy long-haul makes me very sad, they could be much better. Btw that 747-8 wing is by far the prettiest in the sky!
Nice video, man! 👍It is truly sad that Lufthansa had to reduce their service levels. I am sure they have their reasons, and my guess is: the global economy slowdown. Oh well, at least they make it possible for us to fly on a 747-8 when pretty much all other airlines give you no option but to settle with the old and boring 777. Also, sad to hear that the food is "better than it looks". That means presentation means nothing to Lufthansa. I guess the next time I fly on Lufthansa across the Atlantic I'll bring tons of snacks and crackers from Trader Joe's with me, so I won't get hungry while enjoying the 747-8.
To the passengers: Sorry we can't afford to give you a 2nd hot meal or a bit more space or get off our butts and help you. To the shareholder: We made record profits this quarter. Yes, 1,1B Euros. Yes, in 90 days. Aren't we amazing.
I'll be going to Germany this spring, and just like you, I specifically picked the Frankfurt to Mexico City route to fly on the 747-8. I could've gone MUC-MAD-MEX but decided the Queen of The Skies was irresistible for me.
i flew dozen of times via FRA, never had any issues with passport control or security checks even during time of low stuff at the airport. Always try to book a flight with at least 2,5 or 3 hrs of transfer time 👍. But i agree, MUC is the nicer airport, of course it is the newer one.
I am not a Lufthansa-Freak at all, but is it possible, that is was a special flight? Fully booked and to USA? - My last experience XXX-MUC-CPT-FRA-XXX was a bit different: food options (the famous pasta or chicken...), free gin tonic (beer and wine anyway the whole night) and baileys with the coffee-tea-service after dinner. - And to be honest, long ways ín MUC as well and only ONE border control stall open. But weve had serveral ours and a nice Schweinsbraten at Airbräus...
Honestly the rating seems kinda weird to me. I mean like you criticized many things. Canin crew was not presenting at all but giving them 3/5 isnt the best I guess. To me I guess a rating between 2 to 3 is the most correct. But anyways thanks for the flight review 👏👏👏

Very nice video. The B747 is my favorite aircraft of all time having flown on it numerous times in the 1980s with the former Wardair Canada from Toronto, Canada to Prestwick, Scotland (before they opened Glasgow to international traffic). It is definitely Queen Of The Skies. I liken it to a 21st Century version of a Star Trek Constitution-Class Starship. Shame that the meal service/cabin crew were not the best/attentive. My spouse and I are considering flying the Lufthansa B747-400 (in Premium Economy) this fall from Toronto to Frankfurt on our way to Croatia as it will probably be the last time I have the opportunity to fly on such a magnificent aircraft and a large piece of aviation history.
Good video..I was planning to go to LA for the 1st time in 2023, but was put off by the lack of public transport options....Went to NYC instead, which I know very well.
Great flight report ... as usual. You certainly can't complain about the service ... because there is none ... Lufthansa really need to up their game, I certainly wouldn't fly with them at the moment, no matter how cheap the fare is.
Great video, as always! Sadly, Lufthansa's service has been decreasing for ages now. It's just not fun flying them anymore, at least not in economy class. This year I flew with them to Vancouver and the pre-arrival sandwich was so disgusting. I mean, how can they have the newest aircraft, millions in income and such a high rating and then fail to invest a little more in economy class? I don't ask for much, but in my opinion a second meal like they had before and a drink service in mid-flight should be standard on long-haul flights - at least for those carriers not calling themselves "low-budget". While Lufthansa announced lots of improvements for 2023, they only affect the experience(s) in the more premium classes, which I can't afford.
Hey great video, I flew D-ABYA from IAD-FRA in 2013, and funnily enough I sat in 32K (I collect my boarding passes) great trip down memory lane for me here.
Nice report! LH used to be my go-to carrier but now they look more like a budget airline to me...with premium pricing. No choice of meals, no tea/coffee service and digestives after the meals, no snacks during flights and no snack bar, all while maintaining/increasing fares. And dont get me started on entirely cutting free meal service on european flights in eco and making it seem like that was what customers wanted. The smuggnes of LHs management is unreal. Its also sad for the cabin crew since most of them want to proivde good service. But since now the crew for each flight is reduced to a minimum they simply cant. Until they completly change their attitude one should try to avoid them as much as possible

I'm from El Salvador(SAL); I went to Frankfurt via CDMX (Mexico) just to fly in 747-8 🙂. There is a shorter and cheaper route via Costa Rica (SJO) from my country, but I wanted to fly in B747-8i 😆
The seat is comfortable but with that said the light on the right-hand armrest is very annoying. I turned it on multiple times when I didn't want to when I flew on D-ABYC.
4:14 35 € sind heutzutage relativ normal finde ich. Als ich mit meiner Familie mit KLM von AMS nach MCO geflogen bin, musste ich 43 € pro Sitzplatzreservierung zahlen! Also 344€ nur für Sitzplätze (dazu kamen bei Delta für den Flug von ATL nach MCO auch nochmal 120€ (15x4))! Und das war im Jahr 2018!
Lufthansa kann man mittlerweile auf Langstrecken in Y vergessen. Ich bin letztes Jahr von FRA nach MIA geflogen und es ist echt traurig, dass man während des Fluges keine Getränke oder Snacks mehr verteilt.

You have to keep in mind that Frankfurt is a lot older than Munich and with that amount of passengers it isn't easy to vacate and demolish an entire terminal. I never had an issue in Frankfurt. But of course you need to know when Security is busy. A look at the flight schedule helps quite a lot. When you have a lot of trans-atlantic flights, of course Security is busy and you should consider that it takes longer. But that is common sense. When you know the basic layout of the terminals and you know the alphabet it is not difficult to find your way from one point to another. You just need to be able to follow signs. So I really don't understand the negativity. OK, you are used to smaller airports, but that is not Fraport's fault.
Good report, but I think Frankfurt is a good airport, and much better connected than any airport in Germany and probably in the continental Europe…well connections by train, a lot of commercial offers and services (even out of the airside), yes I love Munich airport, is more modern, but Frankfurt is Frankfurt 😅
thank you for your detail report but shame on LH what the hell is this look at the meal service and nothing till landing I have one suggestion for you sometimes check the galley they put some snack I mean before they were leaving pretzels but I think they dont want to give that either its horrible I always say LH its a low cost airline I prefer Austrian business and Swiss economy its much better avoid this airline this is shame for Germany and Germans because this is long haul easy jet!
Lufthansa lives only on its name and customers who unfortunately do not know any better. The prices are outrageously high, the service and the product is incredibly bad. And that even in higher classes. Lufthansa cannot compete in any area. Not even in Europe. Unfortunately, they also still have the monopoly in Germany. The arrogance and overconfidence due to the former glory days of the management and employees can be felt at any time. They consider guests in economy class as worthless. It's not just a bad experience, you really feel ripped off. Great video nonetheless. A little slower subtitles would be awesome.
I get cost cutting, but to completely eliminate the snack bar is just stupid, even turkish kept a "you wont die" snack bar (it only had one type of dry biscuit, but its something)
Mein Flug aus Namibia heraus wurde gestrichen. Der neue Flug ist jetzt Windhoek-Johannesburg Johannesburg-Frankfurt Frankfurt-Zürich Zürich-Hamburg. Fliege jetzt auch 11 Stunden mit der 747-8. Das wichtigste ist das Entertainment System. Hoffe da gibt es auch aktuelle Filme 😬

Wusste gar nicht dass mittlerweile so viel extra kostet bei Lufthansa und die Auswahl so minimal ist. Dürfte man eigentlich seine eigene Lunch box mit in den Flieger nehmen ?
Ja, das kannst du theoretisch mitnehmen sofern du keine Flüssigkeiten (es zählt auch Brei oder Mousse) > 100ml dabei hast. Zudem solltest du sie im Flieger aufessen, je nach Reiseland ist es nämlich nicht erlaubt tierische und pflanzliche Produkte einzuführen und du könntest Probleme mit dem Zoll bekommen.
Ich fliege bald von Hamburg aus über Frankfurt nach New York. Kannst du mir sagen ob du in Frankfurt nochmal in die Passkontrolle bzw zur Sicherheitskontrolle musstest, nachdem du das in München schon gemacht hast?
Yes. The whole airframe is designed differently. The 747-8 is longer, has a larger upper deck, new wings and engines compared to the previous versions like the 747-400.
I flew yesterday with Lufthansa 747 from Toronto to Frankfurt, it was a not pleasant experience. It look like a cheap flight comparing to other flying lines . The meal was very small ( thanks god i had snacks with me) the entertainment is old . The tray stayed 45 min till the collected.😢
Ive never flowm LH on long-haul but i can see that service was very poor. I think that Gulf and asian airlines have best crews! It's not just a LH's issue. Well anyway i would expect a better service from this airline.
1:48 disagree, since I live in Qatar, I’d much rather fly to Frankfurt because Frankfurt is busier which means bigger aircraft go to Frankfurt, Qatar brings the baby 787-8 to Munich, but a large 777-300ER to Frankfurt. I’d much rather fly on the 777
O allways wanted to fly with Lufthansa because the 747 and the service. Now only because the Queen. Até least Swiss still offers free snacks and fruits.
First of all i want to say i enjoyed your awesome 10/10 flight report,nice work dude👍And i have flown on the 747-200 plus the 747-400 but not the 800,and my favourite plane which i flew on back in may 1978 was a Air New Zealand DC-10.,reason why it is my favourite plane is because of it's fast steep take-off.
No, masks are not mandatory on planes departing from/ arriving in Germany anymore. However, I choose to wear one in crowded areas. But please visit the websites of the responsible authorities for the recent rules regarding illness prevention measures as these can always change.

I'm Diabetic I do this all the time. 11:30 min Tipp: normaly between so long times between meals, you can ask for a snack in the back kitchen for free. So you survive between meals. ;-) 15:41 min Always the Nussini (eye roll) the badest bar in the world.

Good idea about bringing your own food. Alot of people are doing that these days with the quality/quantity of airline food declining.

I'm from El Salvador(SAL); I went to Frankfurt via CDMX (Mexico) just to fly in 747-8 🙂. There is a shorter and cheaper route via Costa Rica (SJO) from my country, but I wanted to fly in B747-8i 😆

The seat is comfortable but with that said the light on the right-hand armrest is very annoying. I turned it on multiple times when I didn't want to when I flew on D-ABYC.
4:14 35 € sind heutzutage relativ normal finde ich. Als ich mit meiner Familie mit KLM von AMS nach MCO geflogen bin, musste ich 43 € pro Sitzplatzreservierung zahlen! Also 344€ nur für Sitzplätze (dazu kamen bei Delta für den Flug von ATL nach MCO auch nochmal 120€ (15x4))! Und das war im Jahr 2018!
Lufthansa kann man mittlerweile auf Langstrecken in Y vergessen. Ich bin letztes Jahr von FRA nach MIA geflogen und es ist echt traurig, dass man während des Fluges keine Getränke oder Snacks mehr verteilt.
Ja, genauso habe ich mich auch gefühlt.

4:15 I don’t think LH’s seat reservation is high price since all airlines which used to have free seat reservation don’t have it anymore, every time I fly Qatar I pay like $25-30 for a seat
You have to keep in mind that Frankfurt is a lot older than Munich and with that amount of passengers it isn't easy to vacate and demolish an entire terminal. I never had an issue in Frankfurt. But of course you need to know when Security is busy. A look at the flight schedule helps quite a lot. When you have a lot of trans-atlantic flights, of course Security is busy and you should consider that it takes longer. But that is common sense.
When you know the basic layout of the terminals and you know the alphabet it is not difficult to find your way from one point to another. You just need to be able to follow signs.
So I really don't understand the negativity. OK, you are used to smaller airports, but that is not Fraport's fault.
Fully agree! Never understand the hate on FRA. It’s actually a very good airport compared to many others. Big airports can always be busy.

Good report, but I think Frankfurt is a good airport, and much better connected than any airport in Germany and probably in the continental Europe…well connections by train, a lot of commercial offers and services (even out of the airside), yes I love Munich airport, is more modern, but Frankfurt is Frankfurt 😅

thank you for your detail report but shame on LH what the hell is this look at the meal service and nothing till landing I have one suggestion for you sometimes check the galley they put some snack I mean before they were leaving pretzels but I think they dont want to give that either its horrible I always say LH its a low cost airline I prefer Austrian business and Swiss economy its much better avoid this airline this is shame for Germany and Germans because this is long haul easy jet!

My favourite is also the 747
Lufthansa lives only on its name and customers who unfortunately do not know any better. The prices are outrageously high, the service and the product is incredibly bad. And that even in higher classes. Lufthansa cannot compete in any area. Not even in Europe. Unfortunately, they also still have the monopoly in Germany. The arrogance and overconfidence due to the former glory days of the management and employees can be felt at any time. They consider guests in economy class as worthless. It's not just a bad experience, you really feel ripped off. Great video nonetheless. A little slower subtitles would be awesome.

I get cost cutting, but to completely eliminate the snack bar is just stupid, even turkish kept a "you wont die" snack bar (it only had one type of dry biscuit, but its something)

Ja, das kannst du theoretisch mitnehmen sofern du keine Flüssigkeiten (es zählt auch Brei oder Mousse) > 100ml dabei hast. Zudem solltest du sie im Flieger aufessen, je nach Reiseland ist es nämlich nicht erlaubt tierische und pflanzliche Produkte einzuführen und du könntest Probleme mit dem Zoll bekommen.
Ich fliege bald von Hamburg aus über Frankfurt nach New York. Kannst du mir sagen ob du in Frankfurt nochmal in die Passkontrolle bzw zur Sicherheitskontrolle musstest, nachdem du das in München schon gemacht hast?

Yes. The whole airframe is designed differently. The 747-8 is longer, has a larger upper deck, new wings and engines compared to the previous versions like the 747-400.

I flew on the 747-8 once, and it was with Lufthansa. It was a decent flight, but the breakfast was terrible. It was just a vegan sandwich.

I flew yesterday with Lufthansa 747 from Toronto to Frankfurt, it was a not pleasant experience. It look like a cheap flight comparing to other flying lines .
The meal was very small ( thanks god i had snacks with me) the entertainment is old . The tray stayed 45 min till the collected.😢
Ive never flowm LH on long-haul but i can see that service was very poor. I think that Gulf and asian airlines have best crews! It's not just a LH's issue. Well anyway i would expect a better service from this airline.
1:48 disagree, since I live in Qatar, I’d much rather fly to Frankfurt because Frankfurt is busier which means bigger aircraft go to Frankfurt, Qatar brings the baby 787-8 to Munich, but a large 777-300ER to Frankfurt. I’d much rather fly on the 777

No, masks are not mandatory on planes departing from/ arriving in Germany anymore. However, I choose to wear one in crowded areas. But please visit the websites of the responsible authorities for the recent rules regarding illness prevention measures as these can always change.
