      They may call me a creep, but one of the main reasons I switched from the audio podcast to the video version is the only voice I can recognize on audio is Charlie. I have trouble distinguishing Glen and Rob's voices and get confused trying to figure out who is talking. Not an issue on podcasts with a male/female host, or with people with very distinct voices (such as Smartless where Batemand, Arnett, and Hayes all have very recognizable voices).

      I totally agree, I love his voice, but I'm not at all surprised to hear him say that. After watching many an interview, I've noticed he's usually the first person to make fun of his own voice (and his height, and his intelligence) and I think that's something he learned to do as a way to take the steam out of anyone who might try to make fun of him for those things. Sometimes he seems quite vulnerable.

      They made a running joke of saying things like “what is this show I’ve never heard of?” When ever they mention Mythic Quest or AP Bio to prompt the other person to say the name of their show multiple times because it’s how they subtly plug their other non-sunny shows during this podcast. Which is way better than stopping the show periodically to do plugs of their other projects because it stays funny and the show keeps it’s flow.

I really hope that this can help some people who might be afraid of vulnerability and confronting areas where they can improve. It's also nice to see just how different they are from their characters. Like, you know the show is satire and that the gag is these people suck, but sometimes after working on something a while the lines between actor and character can get blurred, so it's nice to see that they pretty much went in the opposite direction and are doing their best to be great people and great parents.

    The last thing I expected for myself when watching this episode was that I’d get emotional lol hearing about Charlie’s insecurities about his appearance and voice makes me so sad! Attraction is subjective, but I think Charlie is so cute. And his voice just makes his characters, especially in Sunny. One of my favorites is in Kitten Mittens when he goes “is your cat making too much noISE ALL THE TIME?!” The tones he hits are perfect. Charlie we love everything about you!
    And the second time I got emotional was at the end when they’re talking about how they’ve found a home with one another and feel so loved and supported. Goddamn, that was so sweet to hear and makes me love the show and the gang even more.

I'm having fun listening to their random banter and getting to know them a little better as people rather than their characters. It's also interesting getting a little peek behind the scenes of one of my favorite shows. As the actors and creator/writers they're able to give us a new perspective on the show and let us see the process by which they've created it. Plus being insulted as an audience member by the writers of such pieces of garbage as the gang...it's a gosh darn dream come true. My life is small. Let me have this.

    This feels like the best podcast that you've done in a long while. I've enjoyed all the episodes don't get me wrong, but this one really got to the heart of what drew me into the podcast from the start. I love the conversations that come from a lack of structure, like how talking about some element of the show ended up on this long deep tangent about their response to criticism and some of their other shows. It often feels like lately the podcast has sped jokes along in an effort to keep things entertaining which is fun, but these kinds of conversations are deeply entertaining too because the three of you naturally have such a funny dynamic. Long, natural conversations are what really set podcasts apart from other mediums in my opinion, so having less 'segments' and cuts is a really welcome change!

    • @AdamKeele
      @AdamKeele Před 2 lety +3

      100% When they started to change things up to seemingly keep it interesting, I don’t think they realized why it’s so enjoyable to most of us is that we like the feeling of spontaneous conversations between everyone involved. We get the structure from the show, and in the podcast we want the unrestricted, natural versions of everyone.
      Plus, I didn’t like it as much when they watched live and reacted as much as them just watching it the night before. There were certainly good moments, but it felt different. I guess there’s just something to when they watch it again in their own personal bubbles, stew on it for however long they do, then collectively come together to talk about it-sounds more natural and we seem to see the best commentary and tangents from them. For instance, if they had watched this one live, I don’t think we would have gotten that great tangent of cults and religion, then ghosts. The part about the lack of ghosts in culture from other animals is such a brilliant observation and ties SO well to religion. I know some don’t want to hear that, but it helps show the hypocrisy and simple oversight when people create these religions and cults over the millennia.
